Fort Belvoir Commissary is described as the nicest and hands down best military commissary by many, with some comparing its overwhelming size to a Wegmans. It is a big store with a great selection, fresh produce, and so many choices of meat including seafood. It offers a variety of foods from different cultures and is the place for odds and ends from Europe. The staff is noted as extremely friendly. While prices have increased, it is not nearly as much as off-base grocers. Some mention it does not carry all the variety found at other commissaries. A consistent note is that the posted hours can be unreliable across different platforms, but the store is open seven days a week, typically in the middle of the day. I thought about giving this Commissary a 4 star because it is just so big and overwhelming. Very nice store with all your food delights.

Always an adventure for me. Great selection of foods, quality meats and fish, all at better prices than the local markets. Clean facility with friendly staff. Shop and Go is nice when we don't have time to walk the isles and know what we need ahead of time. I love walking the isles because I always find something unique... read full comment
