The Virginia DMV is just a mile or so away and recommended Skyline Bank to notarize a document, so I stopped by around 4:30 today. There were plenty of tellers and not many customers. To my surprise, they weren’t willing to notarize a simple DMV document because “that’s a courtesy for our customers.” Well it’s a discourtesy for this non-customer who wouldn’t patronize their bank if they gave me 50% interest on a savings account. What an opportunity missed to show a potential customer and his four year old son how to attract new business to their bank. I gladly offered to pay for the service but was given a hard “no” from all the tellers who who were otherwise not busy at all. I’ve never encountered a bank with such a silly policy. This is a sign that management doesn’t empower its team, rather insisting they recite company policy than have any flexibility to win new customers.

Horrible customer service at the Galax branch location at Lowes. You'd be better off to make the trip to another branch location in particular the Hillsville Branch where customers are treated with respect.
