Place needs a lot of work. Management has let it deteriorate over the last few years pretty bad. Refuses to groom any of the sites and remove some of the hazardous conditions, rotten decks, or picnic tables. The boat docks are so wobbly that you feel like you are in a fun house walking around. Not sure what they consider maintenance, but what they do is a far cry from it.BTW, anyone that writes the glowing reviews is a friend or family of management. The members will not write such blasphemy.Basically if you want to camp and visit friends, it is a good place because it is on the water. But DO NOT expect “Resort” conditions.Safety: I could write a comedy show on the safety hazards there.

We arrived after a long drive from upstate ny , we are ROD members , made a reservation for the “Admiral” motel room upon arrival we were told it was 105 per night & first we were never told this . After seeing the place we said we were leaving due to the poor condition of this place & they proceeded to inform us we would still be charged , “whatever “ it is so dilapidated this is no resort !!! Everything is dirty & hasn’t been updated since built !! As other reviewers have stated it’s a dump ! ROD should be ashamed to even list this place !!

This place is a DISASTER! We were potentially looking to get a permanent site, so we decided to stay for a weekend. Spots are crammed in there. Extremely difficult to park. If you have a fifth wheel or motor home FORGET IT! 28 foot travel trailer was TIGHT! Trash laying around everywhere! How hard is it to pick up? There are permanent sites that look like they haven’t been touched in YEARS. Decks falling down, mobile homes that should be condemned. I am SO SORRY we paid to stay here, but wouldn’t recommend it if it was free OR if I was paid to stay there! Go elsewhere.

What in the world has happened to Lake Gaston Resort? From the water, it looks horrible - so rundown, etc. stopped at the marina and it was awful, too; what a shame - used to be so nice; we used to have a membership there years back but the dues got so high we couldn’t afford to stay; I am sure they are much higher today - not sure what they are doing with the money they take in but need to make the lake view more desirable and fix/clean the place up!

The atmosphere is AMAZING, and perfect for coming off the lake for a bite to eat. The reasons I'm giving 3 stars is because the host seemed a bit annoyed when we mentioned to him the group number we had, like visibly annoyed EYEROLL and all, and one of our meals had a hair in it. The waitress and staff were quick to right the situation, and took half off the sandwich, and handled the situation humbly, but it still happened. Don't let this stop you from stopping in! They have great drink selections, and different decks/areas to hang out in. Very cool place to visit, and the other food we had was good!

My parents have been members/owners at THE CLUB - Lake Gaston Resort since the 1980s, and we use to attend regularly. It was great...way back when!We recently visited the club with Mom after many years of us and her being away/unable to visit. We had even taken family friends with us. ALL of us (5 adults, 1 child) were APPALLED at the HORRID CONDITIONS!First off, there have been some changes that Mom hadn't been informed of - like charging for guest entry. Also, my parents never received the directory that was promised (according to the website) to be sent after printing in 2017. It is now 2021.The property was nearly desolate of members, guests, etc., and it is still summer! Why is this place so empty? Upon further inspection, we found the following:-Store/Bait & Tackle Shop - barely stocked-Dock & Piers - in an absolutely neglectful state. All need to be removed and REBUILT for the safety of everyone!-Beach - an area of sand full of pet feces, which is a MAJOR HEALTH HAZZARD to people & the lake! NOT a place for kids, nor adults, to enjoy relaxing in the sun, playing in the sand, or swimming in the lake. -Clubhouse - no employees on site, bar contents easily accessible to anyone, fallen ceiling tiles, thousands of dollars worth of commercial kitchen equipment sitting around in public areas - all FILTHY, and worst of all - dead roaches and other bugs- again, a MAJOR HEALTH HAZZARD! I don't believe the clubhouse has been updated since it was originally built.-General Grounds - not well maintained, equipment left out in the elements and obviously not touched in a very long time since the overgrowth was higher than the equipment. We were all so disgusted with the property that we decided to cut our visit to THE CLUB short. We actually went down the road, sat and talked at a lovely local restaurant for hours to enjoy the time we had to spend with each other. My husband and I remember the fun, clean, good times we had a THE CLUB so many years ago with my parents. We, along with our friends, had all discussed investing in THE CLUB prior to our visit because my husband and I had spoken so highly of the property and the investment opportunity. Now, NONE of us wants to even think of having to revisit this desolate place.Resorts of Distinction - THE CLUB-Lake Gaston Resort, in particular, you should be ASHAMED of how you have let this lovely property run down, especially after the so-called "Maintenance Fees" you charge owners each year!If I were able to give you a ZERO on a recommendation, I would.

Took my friends there to hopefully have some fun. Couldn’t say we did. The whole bowling alley is outdated. No A/C only about 5 fans. EXTREMELY high prices. The only thing I can say that was redeemable was the fact that the staff weren’t mean. I would never recommend this place. Biggest waste of money and time in my entire life.

Is it off season?... rotting wood planks everywhere. SpiderS in ladies restroom along with webs and hornets nest on the door. Ceiling tile in main Club house has crashed to the floor. Food prep machinery sitting around dirty and cockroaches dead near by. YUCK. Check-in lady was nice. No desire to ever go back.

It’s a campground, not a 5 star hotel. It’s a bit outdated. Can’t deny that, but if you’re looking for a place to take your children for the weekend, it will do the trick. A decent pool. Private beach on the lake. The boat docks are there to use, but they are pretty rough. If you choose to go on the 4th of July there is an outstanding fireworks show with live music just around the corner on the lake.

We are currently here, and were suppose to stay for five nights. We will be leaving tomorrow. We are Resorts of Distinction members who have paid over 5k to be able to stay at "first class" RV resorts. We are stuck in the woods on a concrete pad that doesn't even fit our RV at a site so small that we can't even open our awning. Pine Pitch everywhere, and a resort that was last renovated in the 80's. ROD will have a lawsuit shortly. My attorney is already on it. I have recorded conversations from what we were promised when we signed up. ALL LIES.

Good service, nice people. Apparently you have to add more than "good service" to the review, so that is the purpose of this sentence.

Staff is friendly! Campground is clean! Could use a little repairs and upkeep! Also needs some DJ, karaoke nights in the summer! But overall great place to camp! The kids love it!

We checked in today at The Club Resort at Lake Gaston. We're in the Commodore motel room and there is nothing that resembles a resort. It looks like it was built in the 50's and has never been updated. The 1st thing I saw was a big old dead roach. The vertical blinds on the sliding glass doors were missing pieces so anyone could see into our room. The toilet is about 18 inches high, not good for senior citizens. It is a horrible pukey green color with a white worn out toilet seat that doesn't match. There is a coffee maker and coffee but no coffee cups. The outside of the building needs to be pressure washed to get rid of dead bugs.Poorest excuse for a resort motel room that you could imagine. The only positive is the beautiful lake. Needless to say we will not be staying the 2nd night that we reserved.
