Just cancelled my membership at acac Short Pump after 2 years. They increased the price of training $160.00 for a package of eight sessions. The only way I found out was by the charges on my credit card. No email or text. They increased membership fees and will now charge a fee to use the pool and deck on the fourth floor. This used to be part of monthly membership, They took out the indoor track during a never ending remodel, which everyone uses. I was told the reason was members wanted more machines. They now installed a recovery area, and you guessed it, it will cost another $79.00 a month to use! And...... you now have to give them your bank account information or they will charge you 3% to use a credit card for payment. All of this adds up to additional charges of $ 2,256.00 a year on top of the $ 4,644.00 I was already paying. I was beginning to feel I should keep a roll of quarters in my gym bag as I am sure they will install pay toilets next!

I love the people and awesome facilities at ACAC! We have a wonderful community here getting after it! I love the new renovations, the pool, the long-tenured staff and the 5am openings!

ACAC Short Pump has a very friendly and professional staff. I find it difficult to navigate the inside of this lovely gym because of all the changes since the renovations. Three stars for the staff and the nice look that makes exploring the fitness floors quite interesting. It seemed very busy while I was there. I was able to park in a reserved ACAC space. Be sure to checkout the photo. I parked very nicely between the white lines. Unfortunately, I found an Escalade parked next to me when I returned to my space after my workout. An Escalade really needs to be parked in between the white lines and this one is parked in such a manner that the front wheels were turned toward the right. I had to get into my vehicle from the passenger's side and climb over to my seat. Parking at ACAC Short Pump is always challenging.

Very disappointed in how I was treated while trying to sign up for a new membership. Seemed as if staff didn't really know what was going on, and management was never really there to help. I was really excited to start my membership here.

Not family friendly. Swimming coaches took a lot of pool area during family time and kids have to be very mindful not to get in their way (We tried our best but it is not fun to have to constantly move because the swimming coaches are coming, it feels like we are not wanted there.) Lifeguards micromanage (If they are tired or simply don't like people or kids, please do not take the position, the energy comes out.) Not a pleasant experience. Is it possible for swimming class to be conducted in a reserved lane rather than all over the place in two pools during family time? Or simply do not designate those slots as family time because swimming coaches took a lot of area of the pool and the staff act like customer owe them instead of the other way around. It is not good program design and condescending customer service (aquatic center).

The ONLY reason this pseudo "luxury" gym gets 2 stars is because of the amenities it offers. The reason it doesn't get more stars is due to the fact that such amenities are usually closed early or unavailable to members during posted hours. Also because of the laxidasical attitude of the employees due to poor management and lack of upkeep of the gym facilities. This gym closes the pool 15 minutes earlier than closing time to allow the staff to clean. They allow the lifeguards to clean the pool while people are swimming laps then yell at members for swimming. Tonight they closed the hot tub half an hour early to add chemicals and water and kicked members out of the hot tub to do so.There is black mold on the seal to the shower. They advertise a steam room... but there is only one in the men's room. I almost got hit in the head with a racquetball in the pool that the lifeguard was bouncing around on the pool deck.I could go on and on but please save your money as this gym is a joke of an establishment.

I really wish they would higher older people like (retired vets) instead of teenagers and young adults under the age of 25. Here's why. The people at this ACAC has horrible customer service skills when it comes to alerting the members of new rules, issues that happened that day, pool closures, pool cleanings, etc.For example, an older man happened to be in the pool one day when the pool had to be closed. He had no idea the pool was being closed he was just in the pool like he normally is everyday on the rooftop. The young girl closed the pool and did not tell the man to get out of the pool, as she puts up the pool closed sign up. Later, she saw the man in the pool and goes over to the gentleman and with an attitude tells him, he needs to get out of the pool (as if he had gotten in the pool after she put the sign up.) Had she just paid attention when she was walking out she would have saw the man in the pool before she closed it. Either way, the way she approached a man was unacceptable. But I don't think he complained. I just feel when we adults are on the rooftop and we are doing something wrong the staff should pull us to the side and talk to us instead of embarrassing us in front of everybody and talking to us like children. And some of the managers on the rooftop are guilty as well. So their managers need to talk to them. Maybe you shouldn't be a manager if you don't have good customer service skills. Stop talking to adults as if they are children. Pull the adult over to the side and talk to them if you see someone doing something wrong. If they're in the hot tub and you see they're doing something wrong ask them can they please get out of the hot tub and speak with you as opposed to walking over to the hot tub and yelling over all the hot tub noise the rule you want implemented. Get it together people we pay too much money to come here for you to treat us like children and disrespect us. And stop changing the rules for your personal preference. I'm ready to end my membership and find me somewhere else to go I'm sure there are other places here with hot tubs.

Child care is usually understaffed, especially on weekends during scheduled classes. Because they're understaffed they do not usually open the upstairs for the older kids and make all of the kids play together no matter their age. My 22-month-old came home saying "God Damnit" after his morning in the kids zone from his father taking him. It's inappropriate and not enough RESPONSIBLE eyeballs on the younger kids (the teenage staff stares at their phones and doesn't have them put away like they should). When my son was younger I found him sitting in a walker in the corner in a poopy diaper with kids touching his face and giving him Cheerios at only 5 months old. His father has continued to not follow our court order and they know he's not supposed to be there. Join another gym if you need reliable childcare that is appropriately staffed. Staff turnover - You don't really know anyone who's in charge of your child's safety and well-being.

The manager needs to have a serious conversation with the employees on the 4th floor (rooftop). Last week I was trying to buy a smoothie, but the employees were having a conversation and they didn’t pay attention to me until their conversation was done even though I was literally standing there at the front desk waiting for them for a long time. And last night I was getting ready to get in the rooftop pool and the employee stopped me and accused me and my mom of being too young (under 18!!) even though I’m a grown 21 years old girl and my mom is 35. I had my license on me to prove it but she was really disrespectful and her eyes were literally popping out of her head and I could tell she kicked me out for personal reasons. This is not the way of costumer service. Employees are not supposed bring their personal feelings to work weather that’s racism or just out of pure jealousy.

ACAC is awesome. Every gym has fitness equipment but every gym doesn't have Lisa's Tabata class, Shelle's gentle yoga, Liz's yin yoga, or Jodi's studio ride! The people are what make this place awesome. Chris always has a smile on his face and is quick to welcome you or make your day. The cleaning staff is always moving. It's a great location as well. Where else can you find a rooftop hot tub in Richmond that is part of your gym?! They also offer a lot of monthly activities too like wine and beer tastings on the rooftop. ACAC is worth it for sure.

I’ve been a member of ACAC Short Pump for nearly 2 years. I work out there 5-7days a week. The gym has been undergoing renovation for a few weeks. A couple days ago, I learned that as part of the renovation, they are doing away with the track altogether. I and many other members use the track regularly. It has been a major asset I’ve valued. I heard through another member, this decision was not made on the local level. Certainly, members were never surveyed about what aspects of the gym we prioritize or what changes we’d like to see, as part of the renovation. Also, the central part of the main floor, where weight machines reside, looks narrower. Where did that space go? It looks like the final footprint, unless I’m mistaken. These two changes alone are downgrades in spite of the expected new, improved equipment. Disappointing.

Great gym with everything you could possibly want from a fitness center. From the roof top hot tub and cafe to the indoor track and lap pool, ACAC has it all!Friendly staff, spa like locker rooms, and all the equipment and classes you could dream of. The club itself is expansive with beautiful views from every floor. Sunrise yoga on the rooftop is particularly stunning. And don't forget the waterpark at the sister location in Midlothian!
