“I visited this store on a Saturday while visiting the Ashland area doing the Thrift/Antique thing and while this shop is neither , it's a great little store with loads to see for your home and both my friend and I made purchases. There was a cart with 50% off and I bought some realistic fern branches that you'd pay $6 a piece for in some home goods store and they were a dollar each. I saw beautiful marked china bowls for $2 each. The furniture in the store is incredible, and the place smells wonderful from the soaps for sale. The area this place is located in is very peaceful and picturesque, Ashland is beautiful.”

“Ashbys is my favorite clothing store in Richmond. When I was at VCU I went to that store almost every week looking for new clothes. I love the consignment that they do, they're very flexible with my time and if there's no open appointments available I call the first thing in the morning to check for last minute cancellations. I always have pretty good luck with the items they take so I always use store credit. I've found some really cute and unique clothes for super cheap. Ray (not sure if that's correct spelling) always treats me so well and when I wanted to buy something I saw on their Instagram, she let me buy it over the phone and let someone else pick it up for me.”

“As a man there was a high quality selection of upscale and genuine vintage jackets, suits, pants, vests, and hats. The best part is that it I'd at very affordable prices for quality that is easily worth 4 figures today off the rack at Nordstrom.There was an even larger selection for women and a friend had managed to buy his girlfriend an evening coat.Exactly the type of style I was looking for at surprisingly affordable prices. All pieces that I browsed was well maintained and looked and felt brand new even though they were up to 80yrs old!”

“This shop is so adorable. My husband and I stopped in a few weeks ago when we were in Richmond and we both ended up getting some great finds. My husband got a very cute short sleeve button down in a lovely yellow plaid. I got a very "Elaine Benes from Seinfeld" style dress which was from the 1990s. I really enjoyed perusing their thoughtful collection of vintage dresses, especially the 90s finds. I also picked up a very soft new bralette that I wear daily now. Finally, I found a very cute beachy sleeveless top in their clearance bin for $5. My 90s dress was definitely on the expensive side for second-hand but it is in beautiful shape, and well priced for the label and condition. Next time we're in Richmond, we'll definitely visit again!”

However, the timing was off for my visiting the store regularly and working there for a great opportunity. I miss being there and loved everyone I met. Please frequent. “This store was a very cool find. They have some estate stuff as well as some newer things by artists. The prices are reasonable for the most part... that is a personal preference but for us most of it was reasonable. Some of it was high. What is nice is that if some of the stuff stays around for a while- the price drops and the price tag has the dates it drops. There is a wide variety of things... furniture, mirrors, art, plates, etc.The people that work there are very nice and helpful.I have told several people about this location! We go every month or so to see what is new.”

“I’ve followed Gilbert for a long time as a skateboarder. I’ve always wanted to visit him and his mom’s store and finally got the chance to! My partner and I stopped through on a road trip and she bought me a cee blues sweat shirt and she got a really cool old print of a hawk. The sweat shirt is very nice quality and thick material. Gilbert’s mom was super nice and helpful. The store is thoughtfully laid out with a ton of great vintage finds as well as new custom stuff from Gilbert. 10/10!!”

A little pricey, but mostly reasonable for these very interesting and unique vintage finds. Just wow! My boyfriend got a shirt and I had to stop myself from buying sooo many dresses. Great place!
