The bankers in the Great Falls branch of Wells Fargo are the antithesis of the small-town banker who knows and loves his customers. They are very focused on getting home on time each night and making sure they don't take on customers might ask them to earn their fees, which are inflated. The banking consolidation of the last 20 years has taken its toll. We went to the branch 3 times in the last month to setup a new account for my teenage daughter. We happen to have a trust, 2 mortgages and several other retail accounts with the bank. I had a cute notion that service-oriented bankers would take pleasure in opening an account for a young customer who'd diligently saved $1,000 and wanted to open her first account. Three times in a row, the bankers told us to go home and open the account online, and come back when we were ready to deposit the money. Clearly they didn't want us wasting their time. Things have certainly changed. James Stewart rolled over in his grave as we left for the last time to go across the street to Sandy Springs Bank.
