A great experience, kept me informed every step of the way. Have a 2016 RAM 1500 with a very hard to get 8-speed transmission. They were able to get one from another state and had the truck finished in under a week. Have had no problems since.

Dropped off my work truck to get a diagnostic for a noise from the bell housing and to change rear main seal . I was call 3x to pick up and was told it’s leaking transmission fluid so I could not get vehicle . They pulled out transmission to replace flex plate and rear main seal . So 3 xs I could not get business truck and lost a lot of money . Then get truck back to have rear main seal leaking . Bring to shop to be told we are waiting on lifts. Then brought back on the 11 Sept to get truck looked at and was told on the 12 Sept they are behind . I arrived on September 12 to find my truck ram sacked and items missing and yet the truck was locked . I lost a lot of money and time due to this shops doings.

Hampton AAMCO was prompt to diagnose the problem with my vehicle and Judson and crew were very courteous and professional. They could have easily ripped me off. I would recommend them for repairs for their honesty, knowledge and great customer service.

I had a great experience at my local AAMCO dealership in Hampton Va.
I was very impressed with the amount of knowledge ,interaction & commitment that all the staff made to make sure I fully understood the problems with my transmission and what the best possible solution needed to make repairs.
Mr. Judson King the owner was outstanding ! He treated me with the up most respect and made me feel very comfortable when I visited the shop or interacted with him on the phone. I tend to ask a lot of questions so I can fully understand the workings of my transmission & what to expect as the repairs are being made.
Over all it was a good experience. I am completely satisfied with the end results and equally the friendship that I have now established with a local auto repair shop (transmission repair shop) that I trust is both honest and fair.
I would highly recommend this business and will encourage others to give them the opportunity to provide the service and repairs needed to keep you mobile .
For those that are interested ,the vehicle that was repaired is a 1994 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. A vehicle that was bought new by my father and was given to me many years ago . I have sentimental value in this truck and was at ease with making the choice to make the necessary repairs to keep me up and running.

I called to to inquire about the price of doing a diagnostic check on my van once I found the pricing fair and reasonable I got it towed in on Friday and let them, Mr. Judson, know that my van had been sitting for a while because we have some major emergency medical situations going on in March and the battery had died so I hadn't started in a while.. the last time I drove it, it made a loud noise and wouldn't go into gear therefore I thought it would be my transmission. I got a call on Monday to tell me it was my axle arms and not my transmissions and will cost me $800 and I ask was that all that was wrong in a gentleman said I got lucky because it was not my transmission I came to pick the van up on Monday I paid and got my key he, Mr. Judson proceeded to tell me that my check engine light was on and I asked "what else is wrong I thought that was all" then he said it threw a couple of codes and I asked what did that mean and he told me that he didn't know but at least it's drivable, I left the parking lot and drove down Mercury Boulevard shortly my oil light came on and I thought I better turn and go get oil soon as I turn my vehicle locked I called a tow and took it back to the shop I called to let the gentleman, Mr Judson, know what happened..he said that's odd..I ask what could it be.. he suggested that he send it to a engine specialist down the street. The report was the engine was locked. The oil was low and bad. I never got a itemized report from AAMCO Unfortunately I'm out of 800.00. I am disabled and saved money..I didn't want to fix it if it wasn't worth it. I asked did they do oil changes there & he said yes..after this happened..I'm not a mechanic but I know now that the check engine light had never been on sense I owned the van almost 6yrs. The oil light has never been on. Driving even test driving causes problems if the oil is low and bad. I ask about getting some or all of my money back. This is a horrible ordeal. 800.00 is a lot for me to throw away & not able to get any type of refund so far. I believed total car care would give me all the answers and it didn't. Mr. Judson & the mechanic was pleasant however My experience was an expensive let down
