Employees were polite and courteous. However, we had to change rooms because the bathroom wasn't clean thoroughly. The new room had a sloppy ceiling patch work job. Lastly, the room could have smelled a bit fresher. Oh, breakfast just offered the bare minimum.

Our AAU team stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and we absolutely loved it! The Hilton Honors App was very convenient, as we were able to exit our vehicles and go straight to our rooms. The rooms/facility was very clean and the service workers were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was a 8/10 as the majority of the items were fat free, sugar free and taste free. We will stay at this facility again.

After a long drive and wanting to celebrate my husband's birthday and enjoy Hampton VA..We were grested with rude behavior. I am a Hilton member (not that it should matter) but I have never received such horrible service as I have at this location. I'm going to say "Ricky", if that's really his name in my opinion needs additional coaching and developing in the customer service department. I understand policies; however your tone matters. Instead of talking to a "friend" while working the service desk, he should have been more focus on the cutting in front of him. His response to an email that was sent (which was meant for a manager by the way), further proved how unprofessional he really is. I refuse, absolutely refuse to stay a night there because of his rude behavior in multiple forms (in person, email, amd over the telephone.) I would like to speak to a manager regarding the horrible experience. Hopefully one is available because according to him, he never knows her schedule.

DO NOT BOOK HERE IF YOU ARE A SMOKER!! I BOOKED A SMOKING ROOM AND WITHIN A HOUR THE SMOKE ALARM GOES OFF! THE RUDE GENERAL MANAGER “TUESDAY” CALLS THE FIRE DEPT TO TURN ALARM OFF AND SAID I HAD TO VACATE THE PREMISES IF I CHOSE TO STAY I WOULD BE CHARGED $250! FIRST OF ALL WHY ARE THEIR ALARMS SO SENSITIVE BECAUSE I SEE ALOT OF REVIEWS THAT STATES THE ALARMS ALWAYS GOING OFF! I ASKED HER TO SHOW ME A POLICY THAT STATES IF YOU MAKE THE SMOKE ALARM GO OFF FROM SMOKING IN A SMOKING ROOM YOU HAVE TO VACATE! SHE COULDN’T SHOW ME ONE BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ONE! SHE LIED TO CORPORATE TOLD THEM I WAS TOLD ABOUT THE ALARMS WHEN I CHECKED IN AND THAT IT WAS ON THE RECEIPT WHICH IS A ANOTHER LIE! REFUSED TO GIVE ME A REFUND FOR A ROOM I WAS NOT IN BUT 1 HR AND A HALF! GET RID OF YOUR SMOKING ROOMS IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE ALARMS THAT NOT ONLY DISTURB THE OTHER GUEST BUT GO OFF BECAUSE OF SOMEONE SMOKING! I CAN BURN SOMETHING IN THE OVEN SMOKE MY WHOLE KITCHEN UP AND MY ALARM WILL NOT GO OFF! I’M STILL TRYING TO GET MY REFUND FOR THE ROOM AND ALSO THE $50 CHARGE TO CHECK IN WHICH IS ANOTHER NEGATIVE ASPECT!

I was very disappointed in our stay here. I requested a late check out due to our son graduating from Fort Eustis. I spoke with four different people, each saying they couldn’t authorize this and pointing me to the next person. No one ever offered to reach out to the manager. I even shared that as a Diamond member, one of my perks is late check outs and was told this Hilton doesn’t honor this. We were asking for two extra hours but was told my option was to pay for an extra night.Rooms: Carpets and showers were unkept.

First of all, we had a horrible day. we then checked in when we finally got to the hotel. (We came to Virginia For my mothers funeral which is Saturday the 11th of February.) My sister informed me that this hotel was horrible and not to stay here. For those people I would personally like to say I think you had a really bad day and your taking it out on this hotel. My husband and I found this hotel to be charming. The lady who checked us in was amazing and very caring. The staff goes out of their way to make the guests welcome! The guests that we came across were cheerful and pleasant.The room is clean and has a microwave, refrigerator (Mini) , two beds, we only needed one. A space to work. soap, bath gel, shampoo and conditioner ,a hair dryer, also hand and body lotion. we also have a closet with full length mirror. luggage rack, Iron, and small coffee pot with coffee also an ice bucket all the accessories we needed and more. Lets not forget unlike most hotels and Motels they have a 24 hour coffee service with excellent coffee!!!. There is a charming breakfast area. The breakfast is unlike some hotels, we have all come across the hotel or motel that has pre packaged breakfast bars and fruit, some juice usually orange and terrible coffee. Well surprise this hotel had a tasty breakfast with a variety, fruits, juices, western omelets , sausage and potatoes. Yogurt , muffins, waffles, and many other items, it was with great pleasure that we dined there. It has a indoor pool and exercise room. I could write a book on this place, it gave me great peace and pleasure to stay here thank you to all these wonderful people , Please with all we had been through the day we checked in to feel comfortable and at home here and be able to relax and celebrate my mother’s life after her passing just 2 weeks ago. Stop and smell the roses, our lives get on the fast track and we tend to turn our anger to the wrong people. Please think before you write a review don't write something that may damage someone or some place. My husband and I are thankful to all those who work here to make this place a great getaway, this place will always be a special place in our heart's. Thank you Hampton Inn Hampton-Newport News! I know I am writing this review actually the next day we arrived here, But I can see how it transformed my mood and my husbands for the better. Thank you !Sincerely,David and Nancy EwingRooms: Clean and comfortable, great housekeeping , Jennifer cleaned our room before we came and left us a note that she had clean it. I like the fact that I know who cleaned our room. The mattresses are comfortable but could be improved. face it you're not going to please everyone as when it comes to sleep people are different and some quite picky. I am thoroughly pleased with our stay here.Nearby activities: Air and space museum, Buckroe beach, Hampton History museum , Fort Monroe National Monument. so much more. Sorry I used to live around here so I do know a few places.Safety: There are several place that you could walk to if you wanted to. Restaurants , stores, and the hospital is next to us.Food & drinks: The food was hot and tasty with a great variety! coffee is excellent and 24 hours accessible !!!Noteworthy details: Clean establishment , The food and drinks are tasty. Great people and atmosphere.

This hotel had some ups and downs during and immediately after the COVID years, but I had a recent visit to the area and tried it again and honestly the rooms were clean, the staff friendly, the morning breakfast was excellent to get a start on your day (don't expect fancy dining for the breakfast, but for simple quick food before heading off to meetings for business travelers, it was good. Coffee stays available almost all day and night, and they have a pool and weight room. All was clean and well prepped for the guests.

If you are Military / Government do not stay at this hotel. They have made up their own policy that the Government rate requires orders, contrary to Hilton practices for the rest of the country which only requires a military ID. Really hard to print orders while on travel. They changed the rate during an evening checkin past the cancellation period. Could not reach the manager to correct. Worst customer service I have ever experienced from a Hotel. Back to Marriott properties and customer service I go!
