Friendly customer staff and availability of items. I had to wait a little bit longer than the estimated wait time to be serviced. But they got the job done effectively and quickly once my car was ready to be serviced.

Dude made me stand there awkwardly for several minutes while I stood directly in front of him at the service counter. No greeting at all. That was weird, but forgivable. When I told him I needed an inspection and oil change, he just told me to read the sign, and that they don't do inspections on Sundays. Fair. But... At least don't be a dick about it.

I am so impressed with the energy of all the employees. No slow poking, they earn every penny they get. They inform you throughout, never try to rip you off, and offer great coupons for savings! All that and do excellent workmanship!

Pep boys in Hampton VA charged me double for brakes and rotors, totally over priced job. Things were added that was not needed. I took my car to get two other estimates and both was less then half of my quote for brakes reviewed from this place. Sad, if there is a specific issue with your car, i suggest going to get a quote from a company that specializes in that specific issue. Pep boys seems over priced for brakes to charge me double. I was quoted over 1860.00 for brakes and rotors. I went to another place its quoted at 717.00. This is aweful business.

Pep Boys STOLE $2800 from me! On 5/27/24 I decided to drop my car off at Pep Boys for service. I have received service from them multiple times over the past 8 years and never really had any issues before. This time I knew that I could be having some serious issues based on how my car was driving, and I thought I could trust Pep Boys. I scheduled an appointment for standard services like an oil change, inspection, tune up, but most importantly an engine diagnostic. I dropped my car off overnight and was in communication with Carlos the next morning. A day or two went by and I was informed that the total for everything would be around $1100, but the mechanic noticed a couple of leaks and suggested that we do an inspection for that as well. Another day or two passed and I was informed of the additional work needed to be done to have the leaks fixed. I was quoted $2,799.16 for the total to complete the services for my initial appointment and the extra work needed for the leaks. I asked Carlos if I got everything done if my car would be in good working condition, and made it VERY CLEAR that I did not want to proceed if there were serious underlying issues. I WAS REASSURED THAT IF I GOT EVERYTHING DONE MY CAR WOULDN'T HAVE ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS. Since the total due had gotten pretty high they said that I would need to come to make a down payment before they could start working on it. So the next day I go there and pay $1,400, while being reassured again that everything will be fine when it's all done. I finally got a call on Monday, 6/03, that my car was ready to go. I got there that afternoon and paid the remaining $1,399.16, and my car seems to be working fine! Until the next morning when the engine light is back on and is still having the same operating issues as before. I drop it off again and they work on it and have it ready the next day on Thursday, 6/06. They said that it was a bad ignition coil (which was replaced initially) but they got a new one and it should be fine. So I got my car back and that night everything was working fine. I drive it the next morning and everything is still good. However, when I went to drive it that afternoon all of the same issues were back again. I called them so they could know what was going on and drop my car off again that night. However, by the third time I drop my car off the communication with the team becomes very lacking. It was Friday, 6/07, when I dropped the car off and I didn't get a single call from them. I finally called that next Wednesday 6/12, but Carlos was on lunch so I didn't get any information and no one ever called me back. Still didn't hear anything so I called again Saturday 6/15 (over a full week since I left my car) and I was told that now they think it may be something within my engine and that I should get a second opinion from a Chevy dealership. So I'm finally able to get my car on Monday, 6/17/24, and have it looked at by Chevy. Later that afternoon they informed me that based on the diagnostic they were able to determine that the engine would need to be replaced. Hearing that was extremely disheartening. I was told that my engine needed to be replaced AFTER I had already had $2800 worth of work done. Why couldn't Pep Boys see that themselves and save me all this time and money?? I got back there on Wednesday, 6/19/24, to let them know that Chevy said the engine needed to be replaced and showed the paperwork I received. I was met with zero solutions to try to make this situation better for me, and was told that a meeting with higher ranking manager(s) was taking place later that week on Friday, 6/21, and would bring it to their attention. Today is Wednesday 6/26/2024 and I haven't received any form of communication about anything. I haven't even received a simple apology for anything.
I was hoping at least one person would want to make this situation right, but I've seen that Pep Boys simply doesn't care as long as they have been paid.
Please go elsewhere for your

My mother and I were visiting my son for the first time in Hampton. As soon as we checked in to our hotel in the late evening , my SUV battery died. I scheduled a tow for first thing the next morning to the Pep Boys on Mercury. They picked up my SUV on time, called me and emailed me with the diagnosis report and quote for repair and got my permission to do the repairs. My vehicle was repaired by 3:30pm the same day. The staff was courtesy and polite. I highly recommend!
