Do NOT go to this emergency room. Their billing system is absolutely terrible.
First, I received an incorrect bill— the doctor didn’t even provide any actual care, yet we were still overcharged. When I contacted the hospital, they admitted it was a mistake and said they would correct it.
But it didn’t end there.
After the first bill was supposedly fixed, I was shocked to receive a second bill from the doctor’s company. They had no idea the hospital already corrected the charges. I was then told I needed to contact the hospital’s billing department again so they could reach out to the doctor’s billing office to explain what happened.
This level of miscommunication and lack of coordination is unbelievable. It has been one of the worst, most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a medical provider.

RUDE and DISMISSIVE
Just don’t go to this place. If you have to drive to INOVA then do it. Wast of money and waste of time.

“Worst emergency service ever. They only care about charging you outrageous amounts rather than actually helping. Feels like they just want to take your money — stay away if you can!”

Dr. Lee and Dr. Sharda and their awesome staff from the E.R. were awesome last night. We had a great experience from the moment we got there to registered until we got released. Thank you all and God Bless.

The people are nice but it is insanely slow. I sat for 3+ hours before being seen. They also sent the wrong prescription to the pharmacy and it took over an hour before they corrected it.

I have never received better care than with Dr Teng, Troy, Clair, Mel, the radiologists, the receptionists, and everyone I met. They were patient and understanding when I was scared and even sat with me at times and just talked to me like a person. I will never forget them, they brought me so much hope for my chronic condition and fixed my immediate issue.
In addition, the department was clean and well organized. There was plenty of parking. The wait time was short. The waiting room itself only had one additonal patient and was most certainly not what you see on TV. It was very calm and efficient. My husband was allowed to stay by my side and was included in medical conversation. I greatly appreciated this as I wasn't exactly coherent at times and definitely needed his help.
I am medically complex, but had never been to the ER. It was one of the few times in my medical experience i was treated like a human being. I felt seen, heard, and most importantly NOT RUSHED. Pre warmed blankets, asking about my interests, little jokes, just the little things. Everyone made a scary experience so much easier. If I could go to them for everything I would.

The medical team was amazing. They were kind, caring, answered my questions and eased my mind during my treatment. Shout out to Phil, Victoria, Chris, Charles, Cameron and the Dr who treated me (I can’t remember his name). No one enjoys a trip to the emergency room, you’re there because you’re sick and feel terrible, however I can say because of these people my experience was better than anticipated, they helped my pain and eased my anxiety.

The lobby was empty when I arrived. I was placed in a room that didn’t have a bed, and was replaced with a recliner. I have never seen this before in my 18yrs as a 1st responder. Midway through my stay, the nurse moves me into the visitor area seating with regular chairs, which caused my pain (my reason for the ER) to become a lot worse. I pressed the call button 3x in the visitor area, and one responded. The Dr eventually came to check on me after 20mins of agonizing pain in the visitor's area. I was in the fetal position and I said how much pain I was in after being moved to this area. The Dr offered to give me more pain meds. I asked Dr to move me to less painful seating accommodations before resorting to more pain meds, because I drove myself to the ER. After another 20min of waiting in the visitor area, I walked around ER in pain until I found staff and told them that I was going to leave if better accommodations weren't given. I was then placed in a recliner in the hallway. I was the only patient in the hallway, because I saw no other patients in the hallway as I walked around looking for staff. I will never come back to this ER and will gladly drive twice as far in order to get to the next closest ER instead.

This is by far the worst ER I have ever visited, they act as if they are beyond capacity but are not. The staff lack bedside manner to the point that it doesn’t exist! The nurses are not confident and lack communication with on call doctors. I highly recommend not stoping at the Haymarket location!

In severe neck pain. After 1 hr and 15 mins, I said I might as well go home and suffer. A nurse said we will get you someone soon. Another 10 minutes went by, said I was going to leave. An overweight, shorter bling nurse yelled “ Bye!!”
Other nurses and staff were helpful and friendly. The last comment was the worst!

Terrible experience here. The afternoon-evening doctor on duty was disrespectful, dismissive and quite the bully. A friend was with me and she was shocked by his behavior. He tried to manipulate me into taking medicine my primary doctor said I could not take after I told him of my doctor's instructions. I had taken several of the other recommended medicines previous to this. However, he said unless I took this particular medicine, I would not receive further treatment and that I was wasting his time. He also put incorrect statements in my notes.
I do want to highlight that my main nurse during the afternoon was the opposite of all this. He was friendly and very helpful. Additionally, the doctor I saw briefly when I got there was also not at all like the afternoon doctor. She was considerate and respectful. Imaging staff were also pleasant. The one star review is for the appallingly unprofessional, unethical doctor.

Worst hospital staff ever. 3 and a half hours in the EKG room for a EKG, X-ray and blood draw before my mom actually got a gown, bed or room. Still no pain medication even though her arm is broke. No answers for anything going on.
5 and a half hours later and still here. Still waiting on EKG, X-ray and lab work results.
