Disappointed by Lack of Support After Parking Lot Incident
I’m writing to share a deeply disappointing experience I had at the Wegmans Short Pump parking lot 4 on July 3, 2025 2.30 PM. My parked car was hit by another driver, who then drove off after also hitting a second vehicle—a Mini Cooper. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan witnessed everything and left a note identifying the driver.
After discovering the damage, I immediately went into the store to request camera footage that could help support my insurance claim and assist authorities if needed. The customer service representative consulted with the manager, but I was told they could not provide any footage because it’s “private property.”
While I understand the legal limitations around sharing surveillance footage, I found it incredibly disheartening that this was the second incident reported that very same day, and yet no support or initiative was offered. Not even a suggestion to contact store security or an offer to preserve the footage for law enforcement.
I’ve always appreciated Wegmans for its customer focus and community values, but this experience left me feeling that those values were not upheld when it really mattered. I hope this feedback encourages the store to revisit how they handle situations like this in the future — especially when customers are victims of hit-and-runs right outside their doors.
