Mary was super friendly and the haircut was fine, but the price was shocking. This was partly my fault for not looking at the website more closely. I saw haircuts were $75 and assumed that's what I would pay. I was pretty shocked when they said I owed $250 for a curly haircut. The fact that curly haircuts is 3x more than a normal haircut is wild. All she did was cut my hair, put some gel and used a diffuser to dry it. I've never seen such a huge price difference for straight and curly hair before.

Brush strokes is a very good place to get what you want or you don't know, because the stylists are very knowledgeable to advise you and help you to get the best for you.
The staff is very nice, kind and they explain everything to you without pushing or rushing you.
The premises are very cute and their prices are affordable. Enjoy!

UPDATE: I received an email from Mary Taylor to stop my review. I want to make it clear my review on her styling is of my opinion only. I feel it is important that people be made aware of such opinions so they can decide for themselves whether to use her services.
I was hesitant to leave a review for Brush Stroke in Herndon, specifically the owner, Mary, who had been coloring and cutting my hair for the past couple of years. My hair color had become poor and my hair cuts awful. As much as I didnt want to move on Mary gave me no choice. At first I was a bit upset but now in hindsight I am glad I did. My new stylist has shown me, in my and her opinion. how truly a poor a job Mary was doing on my hair.

3 Words...Full Service Salon. This wasn't "just a haircut". It was a spa day from start to finish. Melodie gave me the best haircut of my life, with 20 something volume. Amity gave me a photo shoot ready makeover. I bought their Jane Iredale makeup line and adore these products. Mary, the owner not only introduced herself, but took time to talk, and every single person in that salon smiled, acknowledged me and made me feel like I was a celebrity. We must support American businesses like this that go out of their way to keep the customer happy.

I've been coming to Brush Strokes for several years now and couldn't be more pleased with my experience. It's difficult to find a salon with the kind of specialized experience needed to cut naturally curly hair, but I could tell almost immediately that I had found the right place. I've continued to learn so much from my stylist /owner (Mary), and it's abundantly clear that she genuinely cares about her clients and her employees. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

Melodie is an amazing hair stylist! By a lovely stroke of luck, I was able to schedule a last minute appointment on Saturday and I am glad I went. Brush Strokes is a cozy salon, everyone is nice and friendly. Melodie not only did a great job with the keratin treatment I went in for, but also gave me great tips on how to take care of my hair.Melodie is talented, patient, listened to my concerns (and really listened), and did not push me to buy products or services or styles I did not like. She was also a great conversationalist and at the end of the appointment, I felt as if I had made a new friend. I am looking forward to going back for my curly hair lesson.Service: Hairstyling

I had an absolutely fantastic experience! My hair had become too long for me to manage and I needed help. Taylor was great about communication and working with me regarding my coconut allergy in advance, which gave me confidence that I was going to the right place. My appointment was with Mary, who is also the owner, and she was easy to communicate with and I had exactly what I wanted done.I also appreciate the covid policy on the website was able to wear my KN-95 mask the whole time and when Mary saw that I was wearing it, she asked if I'd be more comfortable if she wore a mask too. That meant a lot to me since we were about to be sharing personal space for a chunk of time.

This is the first time in my life I have been 100% satisfied with a hair appointment--you won't be disappointed with Bettie! During my consult we talked about my goals, shared photos of haircuts I liked and different ways to reduce frizz on my wavy hair. Bettie gave me feedback on what was going on with my hair (too much of ne product and the wrong conditioner) and we decided on a haircut and to try the Cezanne smoothing treatment. Most importantly, she listened to me and helped figure out what could work given my hair.Day of was seamless...no waiting, Bettie reviewed what we were doing to my hair and what my goals were. The whole process took about 3 hours (hair cut and Cezanne). The atmoshphere is cozy and warm--think Great Aunt chic--which made waiting in between steps nice. I had tea and a comfy corner chair when I wasn't roaming around the shop to stretch and move.I couldn't be happier about the end result. I'll be a repeat customer for sure.Service: Haircut

I had green hair extensions installed by Mary and it was an amazing, professional and fun experience from start to finish. I found this business on google and then reviewed their Instagram account. I decided to message them on Instagram and the response was almost immediate! The customer service was great and I instantly felt like they wanted to provide me with exactly what I wanted. I scheduled a consult with Mary and explained what I wanted and that I had no idea of the process of the micro bead extensions. She was kind and professional. I really felt like she cared about what I wanted and wanted to provide me with the healthiest option for my hair. She took the time to answer all of my questions and even do some research for the best way to accomplish what I was asking before booking me for an appointment. She sent me photos of the dyed extensions to get me exactly what I wanted. The process was fun, the whole staff seemed to get involved in the photos and I just felt comfortable.
