Back when they were located off Elden Street by Jiffy Lube I brought my dogs for check-up visits and occasional repairs. After 7 years and a few life changes for my family plus vet location change, I reached out to see if they were accepting new (return) clients. There was a completely new staff but the name was the same and the same friendly spirit was still there. We've been with Dr. Kinsella and the rest of the team there for several years now. They had an amazing organized system all through Covid for visitations and we are very pleased with all services.Oh and our boy Ammo say he LOVES all the attention and especially the treats! ?

January 2024 - Staff were super nice and knowledgeable; however, I was quoted a price which was paid after services were rendered. Three hours later, I received a call from this medical center saying that they quoted me the wrong price and I needed to pay an extra $56.00. I felt that was really tacky and unprofessional. Please learn prices for your services! I’m not sure if I will be using their services again.

The most caring people that make every experience comfortable, transparent, and about what's best for your pet. Easy to make appointments and glad they have weekend service also. Feeling so lucky to have found HAMC.

Dec 2022 - Helped with a short notice exam and international health certificate after a chain vet clinic in the area refused to help us after we had used them for years. (Lesson learned: Seek out caring professionals vs a profits-first chain)It was clear that Herndon Animal Medical Center cared about the well-being of our dog above all. They knew we were leaving the country long-term and that the health certificate is frankly a difficult process on their end with little profit for their time and effort, but were nothing but helpful and professional. We will definitely use this vet exclusively when we return to the area.Their new office is also very nice and the entire staff we dealt with was professional and friendly.

All the doctors at HAMC are nice, but not all are competent and/or cautious. I'd only consider Dr. Baxter for future pet care needs. She was thorough, knowledgeable, and compassionate. We had to put our sweet dog, Leo, to sleep last Friday. He was suffering from an acute kidney failure, which I believe could have been prevented--or slowed down at the very least--had it not been for the, dare I say it, negligence on part of some of the veterinary doctors at Herndon Animal Medical Center (HAMC).My dog was a patient of HAMC since 2021. They had collected 3 years of his blood work. The following are Leo's kidney values from 2021-2023, including the latest results from May 2023:1) BUN/UREA - 9, 10, 31 (range: 6-31 mg/dL)2) CREAT - 0.06, 0.08, 1.4 (range: 0.5-1.6 mg/dL)I didn't hear the words kidney disease until Leo was admitted to critical care. I started researching this condition and my searches showed that a CREAT level of 1.4 indicates Stage 1 kidney disease, a chronic condition. The 3 ER doctors that treated Leo suspected his kidney disease was likely made worse by the anesthesia administered during and/or the NSAIDs prescribed after a dental cleaning in July 2023. I did not know about the elevated kidney values from May and the possibility of kidney failure from any of the HAMC doctors that had seen Leo up to that point.Leo's pre-dental cleaning lab work was approved by one HAMC doctor. Another doctor did the dental cleaning and an anesthetist was on hand for the procedure. There is no mention of Leo's elevated kidney values from May in their notes or at the 2-week dental follow up.In late August Leo had a sudden decrease in appetite and mobility. He was seen by yet another doctor who said it could be allergies, stress, picky eating, and/or arthritis and to keep an eye on the issue. She said she would be concerned if he was losing weight but he had gained weight since his last visit, so she wasn't concerned. She did not mention his high kidney values from May or suggest we do a blood test at this point.Early September 2023 we're back at HAMC. Leo is suddenly refusing even his favorite treats, was vomiting, and straining to poop. Dr. Baxter examined him and said his kidney values were through the roof. He was admitted to critical care with kidney values of 150+ for BUN and 10+ for CREAT! After almost 4 days of treatment in critical care, his prognosis was very poor and he was given less than a week to live. Why wasn't I warned of his kidney disease by the doctors at HAMC? Why did they proceed with anesthesia and pain meds knowing this would be a risk? Yes, this condition is chronic and can be insidious, but they are supposed to be trained professionals. The disease is manageable through diet if caught early. I would have overhauled his entire diet. What is the point of long-term pet care and diagnostic practice if they were not tracking Leo's medical history?I feel like I was deprived of giving my dog the best possible chance to bounce back from this. He was only 7 years old.

The staff here is warm, friendly, caring and helpful. They are pleasant on the phone and during visits. We've seen several of the doctors and liked them all (Dr. G is our favorite though). I've called with questions and gotten answers quickly and been able to schedule appointments at convenient times. They are so sweet to our dogs and work hard to make their visits pleasant.

Based on my experience, this practice is top notch. Every person I've spoken to - front desk staff, vet techs and vets - is caring, knowledgeable and thorough. I am confident my dog will receive the best care possible here. He is the type of dog that is easily excited but is also uncertain, however, he is more than happy to be distracted with spray cheese on a paper plate during nail trims and exams.

Everyone there is amazing. I won’t go anywhere else. My cat and dog both love everyone that works here! It’s incredible how patient, loving, and tolerant everyone is here. It’s also very clean, well kept, and organized too. Not hard to find an appointment the same day or the day after either. These people know what they’re doing and they do it best!! Y’all keep it up now. Thank you. ?

Always friendly and caring folks work there. They genuinely care for the dog which surprisingly not the case for some other vet offices we have been to in this area.Vets clearly explain various options for treatment and do not necessarily push the most expensive option.

Staff are all wonderful! And it was the easiest trip ever because they are very smart to provide the flavored cat treat tubes - even with a rabies shot and blood draw, my cat was completely distracted and way happier at the vet than normal!

I rescued a kitten off the street and this vet was able to get me in last minute and handled both my new kitten and me very well. I've owned all sorts of animals over the years and I can honestly say this is one of the best vets I've been to. They have a great team, are extremely communicative, have a great covid protocol, and are well priced. I did not feel pressured into anything and was given an explanation for everything that was happening. I was not planning to stay with them as I have another vet but I like them so much I'm switching my other cat to them instead.

Herndon Animal Medical Center really comes through for the animals they care for and their owners. We have used them for a number of years now for both routine appointments and they have also gotten our dog in for urgent care after injury twice. In these cases I am always frazzled and the staff from the front desk to the vets provide guidance and care with kindness and compassion. They work hard to get my pup all fixed up and back home and comfortable very quickly. I also appreciate the clear written treatment plans they provide with estimated costs after their exam so we know how much to expect. I have been recommending them for years and they continue to be the best.
