Truthfully I was skeptical because of how run down it looked when we pulled in. But we have a brand new renovated room and I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the kindness of the staff!

At the price point of $128 a night on a random Tuesday in August, I expected a pretty nice place to stay.
What I found was an ancient, worn down motel.
The air conditioner appears to be original to the building, probably from the late 80s or early 90s from the looks of it, the temperature settings are labeled 1-10 and the choices were either scalding hot or freezing cold.
The room itself was decent, or so I thought when I came in by candle light as the lights didn’t work by the door.
After navigating in the dark to the bedside table I found that one of its bulbs were also burned out.
Once morning came I found that most of the table top surfaces in the room were covered in a sticky liquid. It literally looks as if someone spilled a soda on them and house keeping didn’t clean it up.
The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn’t work and the light by the sink made it smell like burning wires in the room.
The suspicious stains on the lampshade were a nice touch though.
Overall my options last night were to stay at this motel for $128 or sleep in my truck and while my back appreciates the bed I slept in, my wallet feels like it was taken advantage of. If this place were about $60 a night cheaper I wouldn’t have complained as much.
Way too expensive for what it was.

I had a terrible experience with Quality Inn Hillsville, VA. I called ahead to cancel my reservation after our car broke down in North Carolina, and I explained our situation. Despite my explanation, they refused to cancel the booking and insisted we still had to pay. I was sent through three tiers of management, each one refusing to help or show any sympathy for our predicament. The staff was unsympathetic and dismissive, making a stressful situation even worse. Due to their refusal to accommodate us, I have disputed the charge with my bank. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel or any Choice Hotels location. Very disappointed with their customer service.

Made a mistake making a reservation here instead of the comfort inn and was glad I did. Very nice hotel. Everyone was great. Even tried to help me start my car. Rooms were nice and clean. Price was a plus. Breakfast was very good. Will stay here again.

They're remodeling the hotel, and the rooms are looking beautiful. The housekeepers' service is excellent. The rooms are very clean. I highly recommend it.

First off... this is probably an unfair review because of the fact that we stayed in the only room in a grouping that hasn't started revamping. All the other rooms were being gutted neat us and I'm sure ours was next. The room was fine. There were no sheets for the pull out and we had to go back to the office to get some (and we were checking in at 2am!). There was a tissue on the floor by the bed that housekeeping didn't see, which made me question how clean it really was. My husband requested late check out and our door was banged on at 9 am. I know it's a work in progress, but it was expensive for what we got currently. Maybe when you're near remodeling, discount those rooms?

Stopped here on June 28th. We literally could only stay for 4 hours because my family couldn’t handle it anymore. Our freaking blankets were WET. It was HORRIFIC. for $140 it was DISGUSTING. Room REEKED of cigarettes. I want to submit a complaint to the actual hotel but cannot even find a corporate number. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I was initially given a room with a defective remote control for the tv, therefore I had to put my suitcase and other bag back into my car to go back to the hotel office to get the keys for a different room
