What a pleasant surprise! The place is simultaneously peaceful, exhilarating and generous. People at the front desk went out of their way to make us feel at home. There are many ways to spend a few days just on the property, from nature walks, to water sports to artsy pursuits and of course tennis and golf. Our suite was beautifully appointed with ample space and just the right amount of amenities: tasteful and generous but not crammed. We are already planning our next trip here, for a good week's stay.

Lovely resort property located on the water. Walking into town is easy. Good service, rooms and food.

I would really like to give this a five star all the way across, however during our last stay the dining was far below par. Limited breakfast choices, and very limited dinner entrees. Sad very sad.Rooms: Wonderfully appointedWalkability: Beautiful grounds

We come there several times a year by boat. Everything great but noticed on our last stay there siginature shecrab soup was not on the menu also there was no steak on menu. That was very disappointing especially to our guest. We will come back but will eat elsewhereFood & drinks: Put the shecrab soup and good steak on the menu.

Tides is nice in the off season when the crowds have gone. View and rooms are wonderful, service is excellent. Only issue is the options in the restaurant were limited for dinner and the drinks were $26 each! That may work in the summer time with Northern VA crowd but too much for a shot of bourbon in Nov. Also no need for Wagu beef at $75, a good VA Ribeye at a decent price would be great. With Fishhawk closed so it's the only option.

Room walls are very thin. You can hear your neighbors having basic conversations. Our neighbor had a dog and a kidThe shower was cold. No hot waster. Also the shower had hair in it.The manager was unapologetic and rude. He offered us 50 dollars off. Totally unacceptable for a 4 star hotel and the rates they chargeIt’s a shame because the setting is beautiful

Great experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get away and enjoy the most beautiful views the Chesapeake has to offer!

I went on an ecological tour of all the restoration work the Tides Inn has been doing on recreating a living shoreline and resorting the health of Carter's Creek. The work they do is comprehensive and science based. They've maintained a riparian buffer, planted high & low tide marsh grasses/plants, and started aquaculture of oysters to integrate hospitality and sustainability. If you love science based trips this place is really worth it. Landscape is gorgeous. The resort was professional and clean for what little bit I did see inside.

My husband and I celebrated our 10th Anniversary here and had a wonderful time. It's in a great location on the water and nearby a strip of local restaurants, wine shops, and clothing and art places. The rooms are comfortable, the spa is heavenly, and the staff are top notch professional. The Inn was updating certain areas when we were there, but we heard no noise. We've been back 3 times since!

We were so excited to book a two day stay here. The resort was beautiful. Our room, in the Lancaster Building, was beautiful with a balcony overlooking the water. Our issue was that the walls of our room were so thin that we could hear every word, sneeze, cough, tv, and dog noise of our neighbor. It went until about 11:00 pm on the first day then started up again at 7:00 the next morning. I’ve never been anywhere where I could literally hear everything and every word of our neighbor. This is a 76 year old resort so just expect that there is little to no soundproofing in the rooms.. We checked out after the first day and most likely will not return. The manager was nice enough and refunded our day 2 money.

What a great place!!! We had a balcony room overlooking the water. So relaxing while having a toddy and reading a good book! We visited off season (early October) and nearly had the place to ourselves. The room was very nice. The staff was excellent!! Starting with Robert as we drove in to Frank at the bar, everyone was so helpful. We sat by the fire-pit two evenings - pro tip.. get the S’mores kit!! - and enjoyed the fire, stars and water. The surrounding area was nice and not crowded. Try out Merroir’s and Donnas, both excellent.

Our room was so comfortable and clean. I mean really clean and I am very picky. The bar and bartender were beautiful cocktails and interesting story of the Inn. We had breakfast at the hotel, excellent but went to town for dinner because the prices were very expensive. Such a great stay we are going again next week.

The food was good but it took forever and was overpriced. Loud children were running around uncontrolled. I will not return.
