Of all of the veterinary practices that I have taken my sickly french bulldog to, this is certainly the worst. I’ve never experienced such a lack of empathy as I did with the employees at VCA. This is a total money grab and NOT somewhere where you should ever consider taking your pet if you want them to be well cared for. At the very end of this horrible visit, where my dog was hospitalized, I called them 30 minutes ahead to let them know I would be picking Beau up. I had to then sit in the waiting room for almost an hour and a half and was disregarded and told that someone would “get to it” when they could. For the amount of money that I spent, that is absolute unacceptable. I told the employees how stressed my dog gets and that I needed him to be out as soon as possible to prevent additional stress. My dog got home and he is almost in worse condition after thousands of dollars spent. I did not even speak to a vet before his release for the hour and a half i was waiting. I am horrified at my experience. Please use this as a warning to never bring your animal here. I could not say enough bad things about this establishments

I am pleased and thankful for all the members of the VCA clinic/office. The front desk staffs were absolutely professionals, no matter the time of day. They displayed constant attention to details and empathy no matter the number of times I asked the same questions in different ways. The facility is also veteran friendly, which provided some financial relief, no matter the amount, I am very grateful. The veterinarian doctors, emergency and internal medicine were very helpful and insightful throughout my multiple visits. All of the staffs treatment and care toward my dying pet were very humane and I couldn’t have asked for a better team of animal-loving professionals.Thank you!

Came for a second opinion for my cat before putting him down and the doctor followed up with animal control being sent to my house only ONE DAY after I euthanized my cat since I rejected her $5k treatment plan. Very pushy for me to euthanize my animal even while I told her I was waiting for my family and would later that night. Very money hungry place and lack empathy for pet owners. Would not recommended!!!

They don’t care for your pet as they are money hungry. They gaslight you if you can’t afford the treatment and get animal services involved for no reason. No one should be threatened by a vet if they are unable to afford their pets treatment plan. Only reason they get 1/5 is because 0/5 is not an option.

They are very weird my dog was extremely sick yesterday and they said they dont think its an emergency so they cant take her i have called multiple times before and they never take themIn when there is an emergency. I don’t understand what type of ER they are if they dont take dogs in when they are sick. Never calling them again. Its sad

Can't praise them enough. We showed up at midnight because our pup was vomiting and had diarrhea from eating mulch. They quickly had someone take a look at him and determined that he would be fine. Everyone was incredibly friendly throughout the whole experience, we would definitely come back (but hopefully don't need to )

I recently had the heartbreaking experience of losing my beloved pet, and cannot express how grateful I am for the exceptional care and compassion provided by VCA Animal Emergency or aka The Life Centre. From the moment I walked through their doors, the staff here showed genuine empathy and support. They understood the depth of my sorrow and went above and beyond to ensure both my pet and I were comfortable throughout the entire process. Everyone demonstrated the highest level of professionalism explaining every step of the situation with patience and clarity, allowing me to make informed decisions. What truly stood out was the kindness and compassion they extended to my pet after his final moments. My boy Diesel was treated with utmost respect, and I felt reassured knowing he was in capable and caring hands.Beyond the medical care, the entire staff showed unwavering support to me, providing a shoulder to lean on during a difficult time. Their thoughtful gestures and willingness to listen truly made a difference.I highly recommend this location to anyone seeking compassionate and top-notch veterinary care. They turned a heartbreaking experience into one filled with comfort and support. I will be endlessly grateful for everything you did for me and my family during this challenging journey.

The worst experience ever! I am a vet assistant so I am pretty knowledgeable about animal medicine. On Sunday my 2 yr old dog was just not acting himself not really moving, not eating, hadn't pooped. My clinic I work at is closed on Sunday so I took him to my sisters clinic. Blood work, x-rays, and a radiologist consult and it turns out he had a hole in his stomach and was leaking into his abdomen. So they told me he needs emergency care so we called and took him to TLC. After we waited for like 30 or so minutes they came and took my boy back for a vital check. We provided them with the x-rays and everything from the other clinic. When we went back in the room to talk to Dr Iovino, she said she looked at the x-rays and rad report and that they looked fine he probably has gastroenteritis and he'll go home in the morning. Also she gave my sister a hard time for putting a 24g catheter in him for fluids and was super rude. So, around 10:30pm I get a call from the next shift doctor saying she did an ultrasound and he has free fluid in his abdomen and he needs emergency surgery which will cost $9,000 plus $5,000 for after care. Dr told me I needed to decide in 30 minutes if I wanted to do surgery or humanely euthanize him since I told her I couldn't afford that. I was so distraught I couldn't speak so when my sister called the dr said we have to decide because no primary care will touch the surgery. Long story short the next morning I took him to the same primary care that saw him the day before and they did the surgery and he survived then I took him to a different ER for after care. Also once I received their notes they put that I took 45 mins- 1hr to give them a call back which you don't really put in because clients can see that. The first dr completely misdiagnosed and if I didn't work in the field would have given an owner false hope and they are just way too expensive and it's outrageous the amount of money they ask for.

For emergency services for pets in serious concerns the staff at the life center have always provided top notch care with reasonable steps to resolve what is ailing your furry family members to give them the highest chances to get better. Could not recommend them more. They are great

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE!!!! If I could give this clinic 0 stars I would. I brought my dog here as an emergency patient after being kicked in the face by my horse. I called on my way in to inform the clinic that I was positive my dog's jaw was broken. The vet (Karen lovino) was able to see him almost immediately but did not listen to me, gave him a rough and painful exam, and very quickly concluded that his jaw was not broken. She noted that a pre-molar was chipped, he had swelling and bruising, and would be sore. She prescribed him a painkiller and sent us on our way. Knowing that my dog was still in extreme pain and unhappy with the care he received I brought him to a different emergency clinic in DC where they immediately found 5 shattered teeth (Dr. Iovino completely missed these), doubled the pain killer that Iovino prescribed in addition to two additional painkillers, and referred us to a clinic where he could get a CT scan. This CT scan showed that his jaw was broken in multiple places and he received emergency surgery to wire his jaw together and pull the painful shattered teeth.I understand that swelling could have made identifying the broken jaw difficult but not even noticing obviously freshly shattered teeth shows complete incompetence.I feel that not only did I waste time and money by going to the life centre but my sweet dog received painful and inept care. I was not listened to and felt that my dogs accident was minimized. I will never return here and would not trust this clinic with even routine care.

BE CAREFUL!!!This place will do their best to exploit you when you're in a helpless and emotional position.Make sure to read and understand the paperwork prior to signing for the $3k-10k estimated charges. About half of the line items are overlapping with other line items, so they are essentially charging 2-3 times for simple tasks. My experience here has reminded me more of taking my car to be serviced at a dealership and the sleazy service advisor trying to milk me out of every dime he can instead of being helpful. After I went through the paperwork they gave me and realized they were nothing short of scamming me. I picked up my 12 week old puppy and took her elsewhere.Their response to this will seem warm, compassionate and caring, but don't be deceived. This company is nothing short of a cash grab corporation, looking to exploit vulnerable people.

Great experience, though it is good to call ahead as they are often busy. They helped remove a bone that had broken and lodged in the roof of my pups mouth. Took a while, but everyone was wonderful!

Last week, we had to use the services of The Life Center. They were absolutely awesome, more than we could have ever hoped for. Our dog was on a slow roll to the end of life but suddenly began rapidly declining. The staff and vet were THE BEST, full of compassion and love. It's extremely difficult when you get to this point with your pet and have to make some decisions about the end of life. We don't post much on Yelp, but this crappy experience was softened by an extremely caring and attentive staff.

VCA literally saved our labrador when he had a severe case of Pneumonia. The staff was very helpful and the doctor I spoke to really answered all our questions and made sure we were informed throughout the process. Soo glad we still have our dog and he is recovering well.
