Great memories here before it became a brat factory but it's a shame that they had to ruin such a beautiful place by making it a boarding school for a bunch of snot-nosed, spoiled, children that will never appreciate it and just complain that they're at boarding school. What a waste.

A must-see venue near historic Lexington, VA near the intersection of I64 and I81. The staff's friendliness is unsurpassed. The mansion dates from the 1850s and is decorated in period antiques. The rooms have functioning gas fireplaces, hi-speed internet and cozy beds. The grounds also include an 1824 frontier home and a modern pond-side building with luxurious suites.

I guess it started at reception when the attendant on duty was more concerned about her 2 yappetty dogs behind the counter than checking in a guest. My room was in the Pond house, which is supposed to be the newest part of the property, whose front steps are rotted and the front door held together by a block of wood and a metal brace. There is no ice in the building, and no a/c other than a pitiful window unit that makes noise but doesn’t put out cold air. The wifi does not work on the second floor, and the attendant’s solution to that was for me to cross the parking lot in my pajamas and use wifi in the lobby! While pretending to help with wifi, the attended suggested that the real problem was that I did not know how to use an iPad-seriously? There is hot water, but the bath room is circa 1950. There is a suggestion of breakfast service, but it does not start until 0830, which is 30 minutes after my first morning meeting. I would stay anywhere else if I am ever foolish enough to come back to this area.

Charming in with a very pleasant and accommodating staff. Little cosmetic things would greatly improve the atmosphere. For instance painting the bathroom ceiling to all match. I love the fireplaces in the rooms!

We arrived before the normal check-in time and were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready. The interior of the house was very clean and nicely decorated with period items. Our room was on the second floor. The room itself was spacious but the bathroom was in need of an long overdue update. I realize that this is a historic home but really? The exterior, grounds and pool are in dire need of attention. The beautiful covered porch on the second floor at the front of the house is lovely. We went out in the early evening for a glass of wine and found the chair cushions filthy and there were cobwebs everywhere. We decided to take our wine out to the patio/garden area. There are plenty of tables and chairs out there. It could really be a nice place to relax but really needs attention. The flower beds need are overgrown and need major weeding. There are weeds growing in the walkways. We were disappointed there too. The pool area was absolutely aweful. Although the water was crystal clear, it hadn't been cleaned in a while. The area around the pool was not h all, that's what most B&B's are all about. Not here. We were served a small bowl of fruit, scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon and a biscuit. Not at all what I expected. As for the employee, they were very nice. I don't think either one of them were the inkeeper. I assume the owner is not on premises. If you're expecting that interaction you won't get it here. The other thing, which is out of their control, is the traffic. If you're looking for a peaceful, quite place to relax, this isn't it. The property is right off the interstate. Very busy. If you're a light sleeper, the traffic could keep you awake. Would I go back? No.

I am 25 and I found this place the perfect amount of antique. They had very comfortable rooms and amazing food. Also they had WiFi, I had no problems with getting logged on and didn't lose connection once.

Beautiful Inn, wonderful establishment and people. Their Restaurant 1850 is so yummy, it's worth going there even just for a superb dinner!
