I have been going to Louisa Goodwill for years. I enjoy going and still do. Over the years I have started complaining about how the prices are way too high for clothes that have been donated. Lately, I have been bringing donations and feeling like I have to ask if my items are suitable or do I need to take it to the dump. I am starting to feel paranoid to donate. I feel if they think it is something they can jack the price up on they will keep it. People are coming to the store for a bargain. If you don’t think my items are worthy put 50cents on it. Make the price affordable to someone who may need this. Or, just throw it away without insulting the one donating. It boils down to common courtesy. If we. that are donating took our time to bring items WE may think someone could benefit from it, we don’t need to leave feeling like we simply brought trash. Those who donate are how you are making money. (GW has no overhead on merchandise all profit)

Our experience there both donating and purchasing has been good. The staff keeps the store very clean and organized, much more so than most thrift stores. When we have been there, they have been very nice and professional, though sometimes they seem a bit overwhelmed.
We will happily continue to support them.

I went there yesterday, worst goodwill I’ve ever been to. The store is barely organized, they don’t have much, and the prices are insane! I’m not paying 7$ for a shirt yall got for free. The “affordable” part of that store is yall being delusional. They also have the rudest old lady working there with the nastiest attitude. She acted like I was inconveniencing her entire day by asking if I could use the dressing room. LOWER YOUR PRICES!!!!!

I will never go to any Goodwill again or donate to one. I was making a donation to the cart outside because evidently they don't want you to come in the donation side and I was questioned so rudely about what I was putting it. This woman was such a jerk. I love thrifting, and donating, but I will never go in a Goodwill again.
Edit: Now that I see Kyle's review I feel like we had the same woman! Still there. My experience was about 2 months ago. She's still there. Don't donate.

First time going to this Goodwill. As soon as I walked in I was impressed. It is super clean and organized. I found a ton of items. Clothes and household. This may be a new favorite location.

Way too expensive! This might be the most overpriced goodwill I’ve ever been in and I’ve been to goodwills all over the country. There are cheap Walmart used damaged heels priced for 13.99 and used water bottles from dollar tree for $2.99. It is very well organized and clean but absurdly priced so we won’t come back nor will we donate. Many other places to donate here we know the less fortunate can afford those items. I rarely see people with merchandise in their hands so that should tell you something.

I had nothing but positive experiences up until a few days ago. I found racist memorabilia and told the front desk that it was harmful material. Allowing that type of material to hit the floor is incredibly ignorant, disrespectful, and damaging.
A few days later, I’m back in the area and decide to kill some time.. Immediately I am met with an aggressive and instigating “how are you?” I reply too quietly for her to hear so I get another really aggressive sigh with an “ok..”. I told her that i said “I’m good” and left promptly. I refused to allow this entitled person to demand my energy.
I was hesitant to return to a potentially racist location and quickly am met with rage upon my next visit. Between high prices, racist memorabilia, and one, well complained about, employee… that’s enough for me to never shop here again. Really sucks because there’s hidden treasure there. But, it sucks more to be triggered by racism 🤷🏻♀️

We’ve been donating to this store since we moved to the area, about 8 years ago. And occasionally shopping if I had a couple minutes to spare and was in the area. It’s usually a fine experience. Until maybe a year ago. There’s an older woman with long grey hair that’s incredibly rude, I’ve noticed her being rude to customers inside and is generally unpleasant. I’ve donated a few things in the last couple weeks and she been super rude when I come to donate things including throwing open the door when I drive up giving me a look like I just knocked over her mail box and saying “can I help you!?” Yeah lady I’m here to give you free furniture for you to sell to keep your business open and pay your bills. Tonight I went to donate a hardwood large dining table and she turned me and the table away, fair enough, you don’t want the table but why are you so rude about it!? I won’t be shopping or donating here in the foreseeable future. I’ll take my stuff to the dump or the habitat restore in Charlottesville who are really nice and actually support a good cause. Skip this store.

I have been coming to this store for YEARS almost every Friday after a tiring week of work for that retail therapy. A couple of things have made me disenchanted with this store. My biggest concern are the increasing prices on everything. Instead of jackets being a set price, it seems that every jacket has a special high price on it. The jackets are not name brand and you can tell it is very worn. They use to sell candles for reasonable price (since you get it for free), but now it is overpriced. It is cheaper to go to Bath and Bodyworks during its 75% sale. Other Goodwill stores in the vicinity are not overpricing their items; I go to all area thrift stores. I left the store tonight and did not buy anything. Take note...This is very unusual. Other people must be noticing because I could count on one hand how many people were in the store and that included the employees...all on a Friday evening. It is usually very busy. I also saw people walk in and quickly walk out. Take note..or you will lose your regular paying customers. Also, the younger staff is friendly but there is one older lady employee who seems to think she is the stores police officer and will tell only certain customers what to do. I had to confront her about applying a unknown/not posted store policy (bring a closed soft drink in the store) to me but not to another customer. I will follow a stores policy but it should be applied to all, not a select few.

This store's prices are insane. This is a thrift store and you will pay through the roof for items that are DONATED. If you find something that happens to be name brand, they will mark the price up on the indiclvidual items, and if you find something that has no price on it, they will price it then take it directly to the shelf instead of speaking with their customer. I used to.love coming to this store to get material for sewing and general shopping for novelties, but I can't justify buying something second hand for new prices. I will not come to this store anymore, and I will not recommend this store to anyone.

Because I thought goodwill was cheap and for donations and it’s expensive for a pair of shoes for ten dollars

The store looks amazing and has been revamped. Was disappointed in the quality of the merchandise. Used to be able to find a few quality name brand pieces, seems like all that you can find In this store is Temu, SHEIN, Walmart and other cheap items. It would appear that all the high end quality items have not not been put out for sale and maybe the staff saving for online reselling.

My sister asked a Goodwill employee "Autumn", if she could try on a pair of shoes. She would only let her try on one shoe because of store policy. This is such a ridiculous store policy and should be addressed by upper management. These over zealous Goodwill power hungry workers need to be retrained on how to provide customer service and customer satisfaction. I will never return to this pathetic location. Poor rating!!!

There is a woman employee who consistently harps on about customers leaving hangers on the clothing (because it makes less work for the employees) when you check out. I’ve been thrifting for 40 years and this is the only store that has requested that. Taking hangers off the clothing is time consuming which holds up lines at the checkout stand for other customers. Employees have to go through the racks anyway. I really don’t want to shop at a store where I get lectured. This has happened twice. Very annoying.
