I moved here 5 years ago with my husband who was a Viet Nam veteran with multiple medical problems from Agent Orange and severe PTSD. The company that moved us did a terrible job and at 80 y/o I couldn't handle everything that was misplaced. Two young men from AM&S came to my rescue. They couldn't have been kinder and did a great job. Also the price was more than fair. My husband sadly died in January. A few months ago I called AM&S again to move a few pieces of furniture. Again the two young men that helped me were compassionate and kind. And the price was very fair. I had mentioned that I was having difficulty with the VA getting widows benefits. Two days later I received a letter from Jermaine Jones who I think is the manager, with the phone number and address of
the Va. Dept. of Veterans Services in Lynchburg. No one that I spoke to long distance had informed me of that. I had tried the local VA clinic but could not get an appointment with him.
I made an appointment with VDVS and they were very helpful.
I am moving soon and will definitely use AM&S. This company goes above and beyond to serve their customers. Gog Bless them!!!

The moving crew was polite and friendly. Two major issues result in my generous 2 star rating. First, the “hard estimate “ of total moving cost, that “will not change” was unreliable as the estimator guessed wrong and charged me for an extra truck. I was faced with my furniture being held hostage so agreed to pay some extra ($500)
But the worst part of the experience was that over 10 pieces of furniture were damaged and American Moving and Storage refused to compensate us for the damage. And the damage was documented by their own crew. There was never a question that these pieces were damaged by them in the move. After several phone calls, emails and one face-to-face visit, I finally got a check for half of the amount I am due, based on the law requirement of 60 cents per pound on damaged furniture. An insult after waiting almost 2 months. The actual repair cost far exceeds this but I didn’t pay for extra insurance. Didn’t think I needed to.
I have paid professional movers 6 times in the past and never experienced such unfair treatment.

This moving company takes the stress out of moving. They are always prompt, respectful, good communicators, and have positive attitudes. In my most recent move, I had a fragile pottery kiln that Tevin, Kylon, and Eric handled with the utmost care. They were highly efficient and friendly. Rick Rau is also a delight to work with. Highly recommend American Moving & Storage!

They did a wonderful job throughout the whole process - the estimate was correct, trucks had enough space, crew showed up on time and worked quickly throughout the day. All our furniture was taken apart and put back together with care and nothing was broken during the move. Highly recommend!

Exceptional service!
Men came in and introduced themselves. Got everything in and packed like Tetris was their favorite video game! I teared up when they even got my second couch in, not to mention our outside furniture as we knew we had a lot and space was limited. It was an answer to our prayers for sure. If you want an excellent team, use American Moving and Storage.

Amazing guys - everything was done in 10 minutes! We needed some furniture moved downstairs, and some furniture moved upstairs. The items were too bulky for just me and my husband. Called around and got crazy quotes like $800. American Moving & Storage did it for $140! The guys they sent were friendly and had everything moved quickly. Would recommend them for any furniture moving needs!

When our daughter was preparing to move into an apartment, we were anxious about choosing a mover. A good friend had used American Moving in storage several times and had a great experience with them so we decided to follow her recommendation. We’re so glad we did, they were timely, called before they arrived, were very efficient and wrapping and loading up the furniture.
They delivered everything in perfect shape and put it together perfectly.
One of the Movers was Zach, who was outstanding, as was the other mover with him. I would highly recommend them to anyone Moving. We will absolutely use this company again! Five stars from us!

American Moving and Storage did a fantastic job getting our family moved from Harrisonburg, Va to Lynchburg, Va. We had great communication with Ricky at the office. When the moving team, Derrick, Marcus and Zack, arrived they were very friendly and in my opinion went above and beyond to make sure they could take as much as we needed them to take. I would definitely recommend American Moving and Storage to anyone that needed a moving company.
