Don't use this bank unless you are okay with them making sure don't get your money back on services that aren't rendered to you. They will pretty much tell you it's your fault and they won't care if you don't bank with them anymore.

This review is for the Timberlake Branch (Only)! If I could give it a zero, I would. I've banked here for "YEARS " and recently closed my account. Never had any problems until I started dealing with the older man that works the drive thru window. It all started when I took a personal check to cash and forgot to sign the back. He handed the check back and told me, I had to wait 24 hours until I could cash it. I've never heard of this policy, so I just drove to another branch and they cashed it. I started noticing everytime I dealt with him there was some type of problem. He asked questions as if he worked for the IRS. I have so much more to say about my dealings with this particular man. Let me give you another example.... I recently went in and tried to cash another check that he tried to tell me was written out to a business and it actually had my name on there as well. I've explained this to several people and no one can make any sense of it. I even tried to call management and I got the run around. I then proceeded to go into the bank and yes, by this time I had my guard up and was just as rude to them as they had been to me. I met the so called bank manager which appeared to be a grumpy old lady that could not even look me in my eyes. She immediately didn't even want to hear what I had to say. It was like they were a tag team. I've banked years with them and was treated as if I was some criminal doing something illegal. All someone had to do was be kind and try to help me. Did you all forget that you all should provide friendly customer service? Anyways I went to my other bank, Wells Fargo and they cashed my check! I was told that this man has worked for 20 years for the credit union. At first I thought maybe he was having a bad day but time after time I realized that was not the case. After reading the other reviews I proved to myself that I was exactly right about this branch. I was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA and word of mouth goes a long way. BEWARE of this bank. I would suggest to any of my friends and family not to bank here! Maybe after reading this you will take your customer service more serious. I'm sure this bank teller went to college for this job LOL. He is so proud of what he does that he gets his kicks off of treating women so rude and as if we are dumb. I feel bad for the other young girls that work there because the day I told him off, one of them looked at me as she knew I was telling the truth and calling him out for his privileged behavior and attitude. Please CVFU don't even waste your time apologizing or commenting back. I just want to make sure that others know about your behavior and that there are other great banks out there besides this place. Anyone reading this, You are welcome...I'm doing you a favor!

This Credit Union is TERRIBLE. First they charged me $5.00 for application, then they charged me $5.00 for fresh start checking because I had a 10 yr old collection (paid) on me credit report. then they charged me $9.00 to close it , but didnt forwarn me about the charge just said , you signed the agreement. I have never had charges for checking accounts at normal banks., and have not been ripped off like this from a credit union. $19.00 for nothing. FIND ANOTHER ONE. RUDE PEOPLE, RIP OFF CHARGES

Great credit Union to work with. We've used them for many years. People are great! Easy access to our other stores.

I've had various loans with them for years now and have witnessed the decline. I honestly don't know how they keep going. They don't seem to be competitive on any level. Their rates aren't any better than elsewhere. They are hit or miss with customer service. I've had a few really great and a few just plain nasty experiences. Paying loans, or otherwise interacting with them online is an inconvenient circus. We are at the end of the first quarter of the 21st century, and these folks are operating on a Y2K level. It's equal parts sad and infuriating. I can't say as I would recommend them for much of anything. For example: Not that long ago, credit unions used to be more lenient in their lending practices making it easier for struggling folks to get a loan. They don't even offer that difference anymore. From a consumer perspective, they are basically nothing more than just a small, sometimes rude, inconvenient, lazy little bank with a big bank attitude. It's a pity.

Go elsewhere. Highly unprofessional, answers the phone on speaker, barely can hear what their saying, doesn't identify who they are when you call, to top it off, very RUDE.

I have been a member at this credit union, since they were located in Wal-mart on Wards Road(yes a long time).I have noticed since pre Covid,I would say around 2019,I noticed a change in rules or guidelines that seemingly changed with their new management team. The tellers not as friendly, and not taking care of the member.I accepted it did not give them a hard time and moved on.But today was utterly ridiculous, the Timberlake Rd.,location has been my go to for years now, a young lady at the drive thru would not cash a check I presented to her.The check was a reimbursement check from Home Depot ,not an insurance check or anything that required a hold. She gave me this made up story that she ran it through her system 6 times and it would not pick the check information up.(Insinuating a fraudulent check)She spoke with Niki the branch manager and the same,no help.I got this look as if I was scamming them.Which really upset me to when I took the check back,(really upset),I gave it to my granddaughter who sat it on the middle console and it slide down the side of the console.I was literally tearing my vehicle ip,could not locate check and there in turn went back to the credit union askled the same girl who helped me did I leave it in the cannister(At this point she is giving me a look like she wanted to call the FBI).To make a long story short,I took the check to Bank Of America(which is where this RUDE teller told me to take it to)spoke with a teller named Crescent and she cashed it no problem. But I got charged $8 ,because I do not have an account with them "yet."To end this "unneccessary "situation,I will tell all consumers ,be vigilant of your banking institution. If they get too BIG to appreciate the ones who helped get them there,it is time to go.Almost 2 years ago I had the same horrible experience with the mortage dept.I hope the owner sees this comment and gives me a call.If not I stand correct with how I have been treated by this credit union. You live and learn, but I like others to learn with me.Oh and by the way they charge a $6 "inactivity" fee to your account if there is no movement in 6 months. Now I should be looking at them crosseyed.I have never heard of such.

Quiet, fairly respectful and rude at the same moment. Asked if I could wait, and then assisted a person who came in 5 minutes after I did.

Opened a new checking account with a 2,000 deposit. Found out later the Timberlake branch hit my credit report with a hard inquiry. No one ask me or told me they did this. It takes two years for it to fall off. I didn’t ask for a loan or a credit card. What a great start for someone who just opened a new checking account. I’m so looking forward to being screwed over in the future. Customer beware!
