Hours: The Lynchburg Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization and a lifesaving shelter that believes no healthy or treatable pet should be euthanized. It operates the public shelter for the City of Lynchburg, caring for lost and homeless pets, and also helps pets at risk from other shelters by transferring them into its care. The facility includes a regional spay/neuter clinic. The shelter is described as a wonderful, lovely, and welcoming place to adopt animals. It is noted as being much better and super nice compared to some others, with a very clean and welcoming environment. The staff and volunteers are incredible, caring, and provide attentive, unrushed help to visitors. They follow through after adoptions to ensure people have a happy and healthy pet, providing medical treatment if needed. They have helpful programs, including one that allows people to take a dog for the day, which is great for the animals and for potential adopters. While the facility can get crowded, it is a dedicated no-kill shelter focused on helping as many pets as possible.
