Went for a hatchet and left with way more. I love Ace Hardware. They always have the neatest stuff. This was the day before a snowstorm, and I wanted to use my solo stove. Needed a new hatchet. The hatchet (Fiskers) was a bit more $, but it is a mighty fine tool. Grabbed a boy's size axe. It's easier for me to handle. Saw oil lamps in passing - was just thinking of these - room the last 2. Also, a bottle of oil. The hydro plants without soil were a godsend because my cats like to go in my potted plants. Grab some fat wood and firewood as well.

The staff here are so nice and helpful. The prices are competitive and they carry an array of items, stuff you didn't know you needed until you visited.

They have such a convenient post office built into the store. It's open many more hours than a government post office. And of course, the hardware store has pretty much everything you need to do anything.

Having a local hardware store is fantastic. These folks actually know what they're talking about and take the time to explain things to customers. I will go here over the big box stores any day.
