February 2024 by Logan Bills
I have consigned a CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1 Pistol with this gun store on October 18th, 2023. It is now February 26th, 2024.I have called multiple times regarding the status of my firearm. The first call, I was told that it had not been sold yet. The second time, I was told that it was sold and they would call me when they can write a check out to me. I called again at a later date to obtain a bit more information and the status of when I would receive a check. I was told that they can not write a check out to me until "the buyer follows through with the purchase" and that they will call me when they can write me a check. It has now been exactly 131 days since I consigned my firearm with them, and I have not received a check or a call regarding a check.I will be calling tomorrow (February 27th, 2024) and giving you 3 options and only 3 options.A. Cancel my consignment and return my firearm to me.B. Write me a check for the amount owed, and I will pick it up the same day I make this call.ORC. I will be filing a police report for a stolen firearm and providing all details regarding the company and their practices. There is no reason a check can not be made for a "SOLD" firearm. No where on my contract states that the store can sell my firearm via a layaway system. Therefore, I should have no reason to wait for a buyer to "act" on the purchase.

I gave them a hand gun to be on consignment, in which the gun was sold on Dec 19, 2023. I came to pick up the payment on 1-17-24, the store manager said that, i have to wait to get a check from the owner, and never confirm which date this will be! One thing I don't understand is that, why they do not have a check ready payable in my name and leave it at the cashier so we can pick it up any time? so i don't like the fact that we have to wait to be paid since the item was sold, and money was given to them, and they are charging us a fee for doing so! when I called back they said the owner is sick and wont be able to pay me anytime soon, and had no idea when this will be! I will contract BBB and consumer affair this coming money if I do not hear from them!

I have been waiting over 9 months for my check for two of my guns that sold under consignment at this business. Each time I ask about my money, they say record my name and number, but the manager never contacts me as promised. Please, spare yourself the hassle of having your guns taken without compensation.

Be careful when you choose to consign with Virginia Arms. They had offered to call me when an offer comes through which didn’t happen and they sold the gun I had released to them. I found out at the beginning of November that they sold it in April and when I asked for my check I’ve been getting the runaround to the tune of “the owner has not yet authorized payment” which is ridiculous considering this sold back in April of this year. I also did not get any timeframe of when I’ll get paid. Find an alternative vendor to sell your gun.

I Just got into fire arms so I'm no expert, I went here asking if I could find accessories for my Glock 43, the guy who was giving me service literally laughed on my face, idk the reason lol, I just hope it wasn't because of my ethnicity, or my accent, Bussines is located in Manassas where almost 50% of the population is Latino, really wish business around here will understand that.

Went there to sell my gun on consignment in May, good news is it sold very fast. Bad news is I am still waiting for my check. That is 5 months now! I have been told it's because they are still backed up from Covid or they are switching consignment companies. Regardless, I still haven't gotten my check. Be aware that you will be waiting a very long time to be paid if you sell your guns here!

Had a horrible experience at the closest competitor who lied to me to get me in the door. Then I came here and they did everything very professionally and at a lower cost then the other place had quoted me. If I ever need to transfer out, this will be my first stop.

The recent reviews are correct; just zero interest in the customer experience. Maybe you have to have a certain look... Went in to hopefully purchase a handgun that I saw there previously. When I explained why I was there just silence. Not even a, "which gun was it, let me see if we can order that for you." Pass on this place. Trojan down the road and/or Highflyer in Warrenton will get my money from now. Such an odd experience, like why are you here?

***Update to the post Virginia Arms has resolved this matter and everything is fine now. Kevin is a stand up guy and apologized for the inconvenience and the delay. We are all human and this day and time things can be a little difficult with all kinds of stuff. Got a phone call from Virginia arms on June 29th 2023 for a firearm that I had on consignment, negotiated with the buyer and we came up with a price. Almost 2 months later I have not received my money from said consignment, I have gone in there they told me that the owner is taking over giving out the checks for the consignment guns, I emailed them, the one manager emailed me back and said he would forward the email to The owner, today August 22nd no answer or response has been made. I took my other firearm off consignment. Not a good way to do business to leave someone unpaid for almost 2 months.

I signed an agreement for consignment of a firearm. The firearm sold quickly. However, almost two months later I have not gotten paid. I have called no less than 6 times and never received a call back. The people answering the phone are very nice but not able to take any action. Twice, I have been told either a check is on the way or someone will call me within two days. Still waiting…. Now they are telling me that the owner has changed the consignment payout process with no further detail. I am a veteran and retired LEO and don’t think I have ever been treated so poorly. If you can’t afford to pay me $600 that you have already received, maybe you shouldn’t be in business.

Do not ever use them for consignment of a firearm. They make you responsible to follow-up to see if your firearm sold and then give you the run-around when it is sold. Been waiting two months so far and have called them 6 times and every time have been told they will get right on it. Next call is to the BBB and then to the VA Attorney General and then to the ATF.

Update: I did receive my check. Went to the store after this review and turns out there was a second individual already waiting there who just happened to also be demanding a consignment payment and he was waiting even longer than I was. First thing we were both told is they already filled their quota for checks for the month but we were not willing to budge and DID end up getting the owner to contact the store to approve of our payments (after first requiring to know how much cash he'd be dishing out). I honestly think I lucked out and was able to tag team this issue with that other guy and the joint pressure got results but if you sell a gun here good luck getting paid. 10/10 don't recommend.******Filed a complaint with the office of the attorney general of VA this morning after 6 attempts and outright refusal to write out a check for my consignment sale (gun sold back in May and we're halfway through July now). They advised they were set back from COVID and only have an allotment of checks they can write each month dictated by the owner. It appears VA Arms is using consignment sales as interest-free business loans to increase their liquidity and meet their monthly expenses and the 85% of the sales price rightfully belonging to the seller is not paid to the individual until VA arms can fit it into their budget. This model is of course not what you hear when you talk to the employees getting the consignment deal set up. This is a DRASTICALLY different shop from when Bernie owned it, and it's now entirely unethical and lacks all integrity. Their advice was simply to keep calling for an indefinite period of time until the owner gave them permission to write my check.

If i could give this place zero stars i would. I sold a gun on consignment back in FEB of 2023 and they still have not paid me. Read the other reviews, this is not a unique case. Avoid this gun shop like the plague....especially since Trojan Arms is 1 mile away. Under no circumstances should you enter this shop, and if you do, please don't use their consignment service.
