Was told 6 months and it took 12 months. They were significantly over contract price, time and almost everything had to be done twice, thus the delay. Won't use them again.

The problems we encountered with Storybound Construction have been pretty endless. Many major mistakes have been made that as a result I had to pay my architect to supervise the construction and monitor mistakes. The mistakes cost us all a lot in time and expense. They struggled to follow the architectural construction drawings they were provided. Their contract doesn’t hold water according to the VA standard for construction contractors. They will not provide you with a completion date or a contract price. They verbally told me 6 months and it took a year. They estimated the cost to be 600k and we are at 750k and all bills are not paid yet. Communication is a real problem. Do not expect the owner to respond to emails txt or phone calls. When I started challenging them on the endless delays and rising cost the owner went MIA and I never saw him on the job or spoke with him for a 6 month period. Having said all this they do have 2 great framing carpenters. The problem was not them, the problems stem from the leadership. They will not disclose their mark up but I will tell you it exceeds 25%. Our job was complicated because it involved building a second floor, we went with Storybound because of there experience with raising buildings and roof. They did come through for us in that area.

Michael and his team are exceptional, personable, and take pride in their work and their customer’s level of satisfaction. My wife and I recently worked with Michael to consult us on a renovation, and he saved us from a deal that would have sunk us. He could have probably milked us and benefitted from it once we were in, but was honest and helped us get out of a bad purchase before it was too late.We then used him for an inspection on the home we are in the process of purchasing, and he was beyond thorough, reasonable, and made sure to explain each detail to us in layman’s terms. Thank you Michael, Paul, and team! Brooke and I are grateful for you and playing such a big part in our journey to Mathews.
