We had a lovely stay at this B&B. Everyone we met was helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable with a fireplace. We loved the breakfast which had a wide selection and a delicious homemade quiche. We'd stay there again. Thanks!

My wife and I stayed here overnight on our trip a couple of years ago from Arkansas to Maryland to visit family. We live on a quiet farm so we felt quite at home in the quiet surroundings of the Cave Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast. Our room was very clean. We enjoyed a pleasant morning walk down the country road before our departure. We will likely stay here again on our next trip out to visit family in Maryland.

My wife and I recently stayed recently for two nights. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The innkeeper was friendly and accommodated us with non feather pillows. There were a few things that we were disappointed in that would have improved our experience. When we stay in a bed and breakfast we are expecting more from the breakfast experience than what you can get at any standard hotel. We were shown the Kuerig coffee maker and the paper cups and were told to make our own coffee and tea. Having to wait until 9:00 for breakfast is just not acceptable for everyone. We had to leave earlier than 9:00 the second day and had to skip breakfast. This time of year there were a lot of black walnuts and leaves on the sidewalk. They were there for two days and it would have been nice if these would have been cleaned off the driveway. They were both a tripping and slipping hazard and created a mess on our shoes. We would also suggest that maps of the local parks, hiking trails and restaurants be available for guests. This b&b has potential and a wonderful history, hopefully improvements can be made to fulfill it.

Had a delightful stay at this beautiful historic home. We were greeted warmly and our hosts went out of their way to help us out. The breakfast were timely and generous and they happily adapted to a vegetarian option for us. Whilst the finishing aren’t perfect, I feel this is reflected in the very reasonable price. Having said that, our room was clean with some beautiful furniture. A highlight was the glow worms in the corn fields at dusk.

I cannot recommend this B&B and would advise that you go elsewhere until the owners are able to consistently provide customers with a proper and pleasant stay. Afterall, you are paying for the room and shouldn't be made to feel like an unwelcome house guest, especially when the problems encountered are of the owner's making. I'm glad that some people have had good experience here, but sadly we did not.Judging by the other reviews, we aren't the only ones.Service - Sadly I cannot say a single good thing about the service. From the moment we arrived we felt like unwelcome house guests and noted that landlady was impolite, and moody at every encounter. This honestly isn't a deal breaker for us as we were looking to become fast friends but given the way our breakfast service unfolded, it is worth noting as it added to the unpleasantness. Breakfast was a disaster. The first day was a small/inadequate portion of french toast and a glass of orange juice. There was a keurig machine for coffee but there were no coffee pods, water or cream. There were two soft apples in the fruit bowl. That was it. The landlady left after putting the food on the table without even checking if everything was okay. We said nothing, thinking that perhaps it was just an off day. The other guests had commented that their previous breakfasts had been adequate but nothing amazing. However, on the second morning, when all the other guests had left, the cook/owner didn't even show up for breakfast. The table had not been cleaned from the day before and nothing had been resupplied! There was still no cream in the fridge or water for coffee, which I guess was appropriate considering there still weren't any coffee pods to make coffee in the first place. When I called at 9:20, I heard the phone ring in their private quarters and I could hear them talking about what to do. They didn't answer my call but called me back later to say that she had been feeling ill and overslept and that breakfast would be available in 15-20 minutes, if we still wanted it. A breakfast of two messed up eggs, 2 small overcooked sausage patties, dry toast and some blueberries were dumped in front of us on the table that was still dirty from the day before. Nothing for the dry toast and no coffee, no juice, no water either- nothing! Not even an apology. She acted like we had caused her a huge inconvenience and simply went back to her room. We said nothing. No matter what she says in her rebuttal to this review, this is not okay. If she does say anything, it should simply be an acknowledgement and apology. They need to listen to the customer and that this is not an okay way to run a business.Room. The room was nice. The bed, linens, water pressure and towels were very good. The facilities are definitely tired and need a good cleaning and maintenance. The tapestry was heavy with dust and the blinds were broken and discoloured, as reported many months ago by other guests. This isn't vintage - it's neglect. No matter what excuse the owner gives, this is not a consistently well run B&B. We were neither high maintenance or difficult guests and until the owners get an attitude change towards how paying customers should be treated, I would recommend you go elsewhere.

(Please note the dates on other reviews, recent ones reflect the current experience.) I wanted to love the Cave Hill B & B. The description and online reviews painted a picture of a quaint antique-filled farmhouse. This is true. I loved the antiques, the player piano and some furnishings reminded me of my childhood home. The innkeepers showed us around the first floor of the B & B and told us Keurig coffee was available anytime. We were told we could use the wine glasses on the buffet and there were bottles of water in the mini-frig near the dining room. They brought us to the Bridal Room, which was an upgrade. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and were not disappointed with their suggestion of Hank's Grill. When we returned later reality set in. There was no water in the mini-refrigerator. There was no closet, the armoire was too dirty and dusty to place our belongings, and the only hook fell off the bathroom door. The following evening we noticed our room had not been tidied, we had already made the bed but towels were not replaced, the shower gel dispenser which was almost empty hadn't been refilled, and the single tiny waste basket was not emptied. I am aware many hotels and inns eliminated daily cleaning since COVID, but it was not noted on the Cave Hill B&B website, nor did the innkeepers inform us. There should have at least been additional towels delivered outside our door, or four sets of towels in the room the first day and shampoo and shower gel filled. The first-morning juice glasses and a beautiful empty pitcher were on the breakfast table but there was no juice or water, therefore no beverages for non-coffee or tea drinkers. When we returned that night the walkway was so dark I needed a flashlight. We planned to have wine on the deck off the upstairs hallway. (The deck was a plus.) There was only one wine glass and it had a fingerprint. The following morning no glasses were on the breakfast table and there was still no water. We would have loved to learn more about the farm and cave but the only times we saw the innkeepers were at check-in and breakfast and that was only for a few minutes while she placed the breakfast on the table. We did not see the innkeepers, not get a "Hope you enjoyed your stay" at check-out, the process is to leave the key in a basket. Cave Hill B & B is an interesting property with lots of potential but it needs a good cleaning and some Virginia hospitality.

My husband and I enjoyed our 2 night stay at Cave Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast. The home is beautiful and is decorated very tastefully. There is even a museum in the basement about the history of the home and the area which we both found very interesting. The home is settled close enough to town for convenience but also far enough away to enjoy the country views. We loved sitting out on the second story balcony and hearing the birds and the cows in the morning, and the peaceful atmosphere in the evenings. We stayed in the bridal suite which was very clean and the fireplace was a nice touch! Not to mention the host cooked a yummy breakfast both mornings of our stay :-) The bed was comfortable and there was a jacuzzi tub if you wished to take a bath. The only drawback (which pains me to write because the home is so beautiful), is that there are some touch ups that could easily make the home more appealing. There are some blinds that are broken and need replaced, some paint that could be touched up, and we noticed that there were random but multiple candles/odds and ends in the living room areas that seemed to distract from the decor of the home. It seems that maybe the B/B has been in new ownership recently but the hosts were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed!Aside from this we truly enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back if we visited the area again!

We were not impressed with this place. From the sour welcome (the hostess didn’t even bother introducing herself), to the strict rules (breakfast at 9am - if you need to leave earlier, you lose it. If you arrive later, it’s already getting cold on the table), to the room - full of tchotchkes but missing the basics: a trash can, a non-leaking bath tub, a tissue box, replacement towels (since there’s no service.) To cap it all, on the second day we dutifully went down at 9am to find an empty dinner table, a locked kitchen and bewildered guests wondering where breakfast was. We and the other guests had to call the owner only to hear that breakfast would not be served since “the cook is sick”. None of us was notified about it, contrary to what we were told on the phone. I understand people get sick, but the owner should have a backup plan, maybe show up with some snacks, or at a minimum show up and explain the situation. These owners simply do not care. You can find better places. The rooms are spacious, the heating is good and the bed was comfortable. This can be so, so much better.

Nobody was there when we showed up. The grounds were a complete mess. The inside is old and dirty. The menu for bfast has not been changed since June. When we arrived, the tv was on and super loud with some shoes on the floor. It did not feel like a B&B, it felt like walking into an unkept house. We left immediately and stayed in a Holiday Inn. Ghis is borderline scam.

Jeff and Brittany were very nice hosts. I loved how comfy and clean the bedroom was. Brittany cooked us good breakfast (bacon and eggs) and Jeff was sociable. I would come back next visit.

Everything was superb!! We enjoyed the 1830's atmosphere yet all the needs of the modern Era. The hospitality from the hosts was second to none. They interacted with us and the other guests. The breakfast was beyond excellent. Thank you and we will stay again! The Barkley’s
