I was very disappointed in my experience at Mae's. I had heard about Mae's as the "go to store" for mothers of the bride/groom. I went with a friend and both of us were looking for dresses for our children's weddings. We received little help from staff and were left to select dresses on our own. After we found a dress that seemed to work, we were both fitted for dresses and told that it would be a custom order and could take months. We paid the full price at that time, which was far more than I ever expected to pay for a dress, but was told it would be custom made to my measurements. When the dress arrived approximately three months later, it did not fit properly and I was fitted for alterations. I was very surprised to then be charged $120 for alterations on top of the over $1000 for the dress, a charge that I was not informed of at the time of purchase and seemed unreasonable given the initial cost and the fact that measurements were taken by Mae's staff. Ultimately, the dress was altered to fit adequately and I wore it to my son's wedding. It was an acceptable dress but not one I loved and more than 5 times what I ever previously paid for any dress. I have another occasion coming up for which I was going to wear the dress, but I walked into Bloomingdales and found a dress that I liked much more for $180. My friend is similarly disappointed with her dress. Bottom line is that Mae's may be a godsend for hard-to-fit women, but anyone with fairly standard measurements can do better at a department store.

These people were extraordinarily patient dealing with my wife who was having difficulty finding a dress for our son’s wedding. We are folks who dress formally maybe once a decade, and the owner and staff at Mae’s were wonderful helping my wife find the right dress.

I rate the shopping the experience at Mars as one of my best ever and I have shopped all over the world. I needed a dress to wear as matron of honor in my sister in law's wedding. While the shop is crowded, the superlative staff took me on a treasure hunt where I found the pot of gold!! I am ESPECIALLY grateful to Tiggy for her endless enthusiasm, support and dedication to finding just the right dress. I actually found more than one!! Mae was so supportive in ordering correct sizes and being the overall cheerleader. I cannot praise Tammy enough for her spectacular alterations. She was obsessively attentive to the smallest detail. I look like I was born wearing these dresses. I feel beautiful and confident! What more could one ask????

They have really nice woman's clothing here, it is very high end clothing. This store is located in McLean Virginia. It's a very small store but they have utilized the space well because there is a ton of merchandise in this place. Most of the clothing is by designers and can be custom fitted or custom made to your liking. The dresses we saw ranged from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. These are great dresses for like galas, cotillions, balls and special events like that. The staff there was really nice and super knowledgeable of the different types of outfits, styles and of the different designers. Besides dresses, they have a small selection of purses, cliches and jewelry. If you have some kind IG event coming up, stop by and take a look here.

I was searching for a dress for my son's wedding. I had gone to all the local stores, Neiman's, Saks, Bloomies... I ordered dresses on line, shipped them in, returned them. I found nothing. Then my husband suggested a boutique. We landed at Mae's. What a find! The small store is stuffed with beautiful dresses and gowns. Reasonable prices. The help was amazing, simple spot on! Annick was my lovely helper. She pulled several dresses for me. I fell in love with the very first 2. I tried a few others, and ended up with the first dress. Her experience and guidance was refreshing. They do the alterations there. Su h a gem of a place!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting MAEs. I had been there 2 years ago to buy a dress for my daughter's wedding. I loved the dress and the service. When I returned last month to look for a dress for my second daughter's wedding, I was warmly greeted as if I were an old friend. The sales people and the owner made me feel welcome and important. Annick was the person who helped me find my dress. She was not pushy or judgmental. She listened to what I wanted and found the perfect dress for me. Mae took care of ordering it in my preferred color and the whole visit lasted less than 30 minutes. It was a very pleasant experience. If you're looking for dresses and service that are not found in any department store, go to MAEs. You won't be disappointed!

I was stressed about finding a bridesmaid dress for a May wedding, and I called a few places near me who, according to the designer's website, stocked gowns to try on. No one near me was able to help, but when I called Mae's, they were very friendly and welcoming. I drove over to try on gowns, and Annick was incredible to work with. She is so talented! She welcomed me immediately, figured out my size, found an undergarment to help me try on gowns, and immediately pulled dresses from that designer which would work for my build. She found the perfect dress for me in one try, but made sure to bring me a few others to make sure a different neckline or waistline wouldn't be better. She was right the first time - I have a beautiful dress to look forward to, and everything was done quickly, and with so much warmth and kindness (a very far cry when I went hunting for my own wedding dress nearly 20 years ago in a different state, hence my apprehension). I'm looking forward to going back for alterations, knowing I'll be treated with such care and warm attention.

This was probably the WORST shopping experience I've had. In April, I went into Mae's Dress Boutique because I was looking for a particular bridesmaid dress and saw that her store was able to order it for me. I saw that she had gotten a lot of 5s on Yelp so I was confident that my dress shopping would be easy. I knew ahead of time the exact dress that I needed to order. Unfortunately, I didn't know what size I would need. I called ahead of time to the store and told the sales lady that I was interested in buying a particular designer dress and I wanted to stop by to see if they had it and determine what size I would be. She said she didn't have the dress I was looking for in stock but she had other dresses by that designer that I could try on. When I entered the store, Mae, the owner greeted me. I told her I had spoken to someone on the phone and was here to try on a dress for size. She gave me a look and asked me if I was just trying on a dress for size and was going to buy it online instead? She said she gives all her customers a great experience but she doesn't just size a person. She basically implied that if I was buying from her, I would be treated well but that if I was just using her shop to find my size, that I was not welcomed there. I was livid. I had every intention of purchasing my dress there, but to be treated like I wasn't a customer was highly unprofessional. A few minutes later, the lady that I had spoken to on the phone came to greet me and told Mae that I had called in advance so she took me to the back to change. After I tried on a few dresses for size, I stopped to inquire a few more things about pricing and when to expect shipment of the dress. Mae brushed me off and just said she'll call me. Nobody talked to me about if the dress was available, when it would come in, options for alterations, nothing. At that point, I couldn't take it and confronted her rude behavior. After I confronted Mae, she apologized and said how she was having a bad day and should not have behaved that way to her customers. At the time, I accepted her apology and I truly thought it was just a misunderstanding. So I placed the order in April and was told that it would be ready in a month or a month and a half and that I would get a call. So June rolls around and I don't hear anything from them. I give them a few more weeks thinking that there may have been a delay. However, when July rolled around and I still hadn't heard anything, I decided to give them a call. They told me that the dress had not arrived. When I asked why, Mae said that someone forgot to place the order on the dress and that she would have to reorder it for me. She told me that the vendor's expected delivery date was Sept 23rd. That's another 2 months! I couldn't believe it! No one from their store ever called me! Had I not called to inquire, they would have forgotten about it and I would have never gotten my dress in time. My friend's wedding is in October and I had given myself plenty of time for alterations. However, since it was arriving so late in September, I expressed my concerns to Mae and she told me not to worry and she would take care of it. Come September, my dress finally arrives and I go in to try it on and get alterations. I thought that Mae would be extra courteous and apologetic since they had forgotten my order. But Mae had the nerve to walk up to me and tell me she could not cover my alterations cost. She said she had no recollection of saying this to me on the phone and that I should be happy that she was able to get it to come early. (by early, she meant she managed to get the dress to come in a week before sept 23 even though it was supposed to have arrived by July!) Like what??? Are you serious, lady? She ultimately waived the alteration fee. But to try to argue with me when her staff clearly made a huge mistake on forgetting my order. In conclusion, I would not recommend anyone to her store. She was rude, unprofessi
