My dog was well cared for at ODAH boarding kennel. He was happy when I picked him up. The staff is great!

I've taken my dog here for his entire 10.5 years as well as my cat before. He was throwing up repeatedly last Saturday for no apparent reason and by the afternoon it wasn't getting worse, but it certainly didn't seem to be going away. Since Old Dominion is closed on Sunday, I took my dog in. I got there at 3:40 (they close at 4:00) and I was told, "The vet won't see your dog." WTF? Not "The vet can't see your dog." "Won't." No one else was there waiting to be seen. I pointed out that this specific doc on duty had seen my dog for quite a while and just did the annual physical the month before. I also said that between my dog and cat before I'd been coming there for well over 20 years. And my wife's family took their pets there for years, so our house represented about 35 years of customers. They still said "He won't see your dog." And told me I could call on Monday for an appointment, although the vet wouldn't be in till 11am.I guess it's like getting to a restaurant at 10:40 when it closes at 11:00 and being told that the kitchen's closed. But this isn't a kitchen and I didn't want a burger. This was normal office hours and they had a vet on site.I then was told that my dog might be throwing up "because it's hot." I've lived here for 40 years. It's not exactly news that it's hot in DC summers. He then said, "This isn't an emergency facility." That's true which is why I wouldn't have come knocking if my dog got sick at midnight, but this was during their regular hours. But they wouldn't see him. My dog recovered over the weekend, but it's sad that I can't add "because of my vet." I need to say my dog recovered **despite my vet**.If you don't take your animal there now, think twice before doing that. If you do take your animal there, also think twice. I know I am. Their service has declined over the past several years, but this was the worst ever.P.S. They could have largely redeemed themselves by calling first thing Monday morning to say they wanted to check on my dog and if I needed to bring him in they'd make time. But they didn't. They didn't care if a senior dog was in distress on Saturday and still didn't care on Monday.

Great veterinary hospital. The staff has been amazing with my dog this last year. I’ve had him there. Highly recommended.

This hospital is very irresponsible! And careless. My cat wasn't even given pain medication after surgery. In addition to these, the operation fee is also very unclear, and I will file a complaint to the state. I hope you don't let your pets go to such a worse place

My norwich terrier has gotten the best care from Old Dominion Animal Hospital for the past 4 years. We are so happy to have found Dr. Felton and the rest of the team! Dr. Felton goes above and beyond to ensure that full research is done for any issues that my dog has had and truly cares about each animal as if they are his own. We also do the canine club daycare about twice a month which is a fantastic way for dogs to get their energy out and socialize in a safe and clean enviornment.

I'll start by saying the people are great, and give solid care, BUT BE CAREFUL BUYING PRESCRIPTIONS FROM THEM. They filled two prescriptions which were marked up over 9x and over 20x what I could have paid online at retail. Injectables are better but on the one today there seemed to be something like a 2x mark up based on quick Googling. This is not unheard of in the vet business, but I was really irritated bc when your pet is sick you say yes to anything, and I didn't realize until I paid and saw the itemized receipt (and you're paying $105 for a quick exam already, so people time is being compensated already). I'm old enough to know better and didn't dispute the bill, but I felt taken advantage of, like a rube (which I guess I was - lesson re-learned). I will ask for written receipts now and fill elsewhere for a lot less. I'd suggest whoever makes the pricing decisions dial it back. There's making a profit, and there's Martin Shkreli. I'm ok with the former, but not the latter.

It looks like a good place but check out the bad reviews youll see waht you are really getting. They promised me the world over the phone. And then when i got their 15 mins late during an hour long rush hour drive, being stuck n traffic, i was given a bunch of bs excuses and told to f off. Great ppl in working there general but the head is rotten on this fish. That Dr and her assistant gave me a REALLY bad vibe. I feel like i got mind rped. Everything i wanted to hear and see and then when they have you there...... boom door locks(metaphorically speaking). It sucks cuz general staff seemed fantastic and these pos ppl use them as shields while they ego trip treating ppl like dirt. 0 0ut of 5 if i could your wasting precious time if you go over here and actually need real help from whoever runs this nightmare. i was speechless thankfully for them. Seiously imagine your cat dying in front of you while these ppl are jerkin you around acting like you got the issue complaining that your pets dying. Like i said speechless! Just a complete nightmare everything i was afraid of happening. f u guys

Look no further than ODAH if you're looking for a vet in the DMV. Best vet experience I've ever had. Dr. Choi was extraordinary with my cat -- extraordinary meaning she was very intelligent, calm, quick, and wasn't trying to find reasons to upcharge me like everyone else. I will never visit another vet again. The whole staff is very friendly, the facility is large and clean, and the have time availability (not sure how, but the I was able to schedule for same day Friday or Saturday.) Thank goodness for this place.

Yes, ODAH is expensive, but they also have readily-available appointments when your pet needs to be seen. Plus, the people here are 100% professional and kind. I've taken pets here for over 40 years, both dogs and cats, and have never had a bad experience. What's the benefit of a cheaper place when your pet needs to be seen right away?

This is for doggie daycare. Clean facility, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Appreciate the structured day (two 90-minute group play sessions according to temperament, then a walk and downtime.)

Do not ever, ever, ever send your pet here!! If you love your pet, please learn from our mistake. Our dog was not only traumatized but also came home terribly ill from her stay at ODAH. We boarded our dog for a week and a half in November 2021. All her vet paperwork was cleared and accepted in advance. They gave us no indication that anything was missing before we left. While we were out of town, they took our dog out of boarding and gave her an influenza vaccine without our knowledge or consent. They never called us to tell us her paperwork was incomplete, and especially not to ask whether we were ok with them administering a vaccine without us present. Our dog is very sensitive and shy. Any medical treatment can be traumatic for her, even with us present. I can't imagine how distressed she felt to be taken out of an unfamiliar place by strangers into an unfamiliar vets office and given a shot without her parents present to reassure and comfort her. I cannot believe they could do this without asking our permission or even giving us notice. We are pro-vaccine and would have had this done ourselves if they had just notified us of the issue before we left. The final insult was them charging us $60 for the unapproved treatment. On top of the matter, when we brought her home she was vomiting and having diarrhea for 3 straight days. We took her to the vet who concluded that it was likely bacterial and she would have only picked it up at ODAH. That was a $400 vet visit, on top of the $1500 we paid for boarding. When we contacted ODAH to express our concerns about the unapproved medial treatment and our dog's illness, they showed absolutely no concern about our dog whatsoever. The director wouldn't even get on the phone with me or personally return an email. They didn't even seem to care at all that there could be a bacterial or viral illness going around their facility. I will never send any animal I care about here again. The fact that they were completely unconcerned about their behavior, their client, my dog, and the health and safety of their facilities is all I need to know. They didn't care about my pet and they won't care about yours either.

I was in a terrible situation recently, having driven a long way in terrible weather and traffic to see a different vet in the same neighborhood (who I will never go to again.) Old Dominion, miraculously, was able to help last minute and see my cat even though we didn't have an appointment with them and my request was spur of the moment. Obviously this is not something they can accommodate often or regularly, we just happened to get lucky in terms of timing, but they were SO kind, I will never forget it. They went above and beyond in a different way, too, that I don't want to mention here because I wouldn't want anyone else trying to expect or demand the same treatment. (Sorry to be mysterious, but customers can treat staff very rudely and these people are angels to me!) I was honestly shocked by how wonderful they were, because it was just beyond anything I would have expected from any vet, let alone one I basically ambushed. So grateful to them, will never forget how giving they were.
