So the owner, Brian, decided to end all kids care at this gym without telling any of the gym members or the employees. We will be canceling our membership immediately. This is the fifth or sixth time that Brian has just terminated his employees without notice and this gym has been on a study decline Since Billy Morgan, the old manager left. The owner Brian doesn’t are about the employees or the members and the gym is poorly ran as well. Lastly this company promotes DEI which is literally discrimination based on their own business model. No thanks.

Over charged me for over a year at $100 for my husband and son to go. When we finally cancelled our account they offered no refund saying the bank took our money. Even after we cancelled our account they still charged us $25 the next month. Very poor service.

I don't know were to start. But i have been coming to the gym for 3 years now. And there has been a situation about Daycare and how they are expanding it. I've briefly heard about it. And i have to say that I'm disgusted with those members at the gym, for the way they are treating management. Were is your respect for others? Why is everyone so immature! The things i have witnessed as I come and go out of the gym has been TERRIBLE! You people that have given management hell. SHAME ON YOU! Yes i bring my kids there and when i heard about it. I did not freak out. I tried to find a solution. So I could not hold back anymore , I'm sorry if anyone's offended, but grow up please! I have loved coming to this gym it has been so convenient.Thank youSteve

I would like to talk about my recent experience with Gold’s Gym - Mechanicsville.Brief Version: I loved it, but then they made it absolutely impossible to cancel and management keeps contradicting themselves.Long Version:For almost three years I have been in love with this gym, great front desk staff, members are nice, and I had all the equipment I needed. However, due to more advanced training I needed to cancel my membership, it was a hard decision because I genuinely loved the atmosphere at Gold’s. Shout out to the 6-7 AM crew! However, I did NOT realize how inconvenient that they would make this process. To be fair, I tried to change my payment dates a few months ago and they gave me the runaround because I needed to work with the GM or AGM specifically. This was something I looked past because honestly, I felt like I was the one being the inconvenience. However, canceling my membership was a completely different story. In my signed contract agreement it stated I needed to provide written notice. Not a problem, I went into the gym on a weekday morning to be told that I could only cancel with a Manager, and they have typical office hours. A few days later I went back in on a Saturday because I do not have the ability to visit M-F from 9-5 (due to work restraints). On Saturday, the AGM informed me that it had to be done in person with her or the GM but it could not be done on a weekend because “the system did not allow it” but offered for us to come on a weekday after 6:00 PM. She also stated that in the contact “that has not been changed in over three years” you had to cancel in person within “designated management hours”. Since this was my second time trying to cancel this membership I got a tad frustrated and asked for the GM to contact me next business day. The call never came so I e-mailed the GM directly, forwarding her my signed contract stating that this was me providing a written notice. Her response was to let her know a time we could come in and she would have her AGM there to complete the cancellation “weekends included”. I will be TRYING to cancel my membership again this evening. Wish me luck!

Danielle King says “I can’t stand black people”I cannot emphasize enough how utterly dreadful my experience at Golds Gym Bell Creek has been. It pains me to share the horrors I've encountered during my time at this facility.1. Poor Management:The gym is glaringly mismanaged, creating an environment of chaos and neglect. It's abundantly clear that a lack of effective leadership has contributed to a steady decline in overall quality.2. Disgusting Locker Rooms: The locker rooms resemble something out of a horror movie. The stench of urine is overpowering, creating an atmosphere that is not only unsanitary but also deeply unsettling. It's evident that cleanliness is not a priority.3. Rude Staff and Racist Management:The staff's demeanor is consistently rude, and I've unfortunately witnessed instances of racial bias from the management. It is disheartening to see those in leadership positions fostering an environment of discrimination and hostility.4. Ineffective Equipment Cleaning: If you ever decide to clean the gym equipment, brace yourself for a nauseating surprise. The wipes provided start white then turn brown and filthy but also raise serious doubts about the effectiveness of any cleaning efforts. It's a disconcerting realization of the disregard for basic hygiene.5. Idle Management:Observing the management standing around engaging in daily chit-chat is a common occurrence. It appears that overseeing the well-being of gym members is not a priority, as their attention is consistently diverted elsewhere. In particular, I must draw attention to Danielle King, the General Manager. Under her leadership, the decline of this once-promising gym is undeniable. If you value your health, time, and overall well-being, I strongly recommend seeking an alternative fitness facility.Save yourself the misery and avoid Golds Gym at Bell Creek location at all costs

Great gym with awesome equipment for advanced lifters. Tons of squat racks, Olympic platforms, dumbbells upto 140, hammer strength equipment, and functional strength equipment. Welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

This place is so ridiculous . Hot as hell! No AC in the main gym and class studio . Owners control everything rather than the on-site staff! Also can’t watch stains onTV that you want . Only ESPN and commercials . No news!!

Horrible experience with new GM/Queen/Dictator after membership was unknowingly switched to a higher level at almost triple the rate, canceled membership and that was a nightmare too

Please adjust the temperature in the group exercise room. It has always been warm with the lack of air circulation, but now the thermostat was adjusted even warmer! We should not have to do step aerobics in a 78 degree sun covered room!!! Please add more GOOD fans and put the window film back on. I am thinking about changing gyms due to this which I hate because I love group exercise and the amazing instructors. Not to mention the Five Below patrons staying at us while we do classes is a bit awkward. Another bonus to the windows being shaded... Maybe they could be able to open and close for shade/privacy????

Great Classes, Friendly Staff . The owners need to come in class in evening in Summer . It gets extremely hot… due to sun shining in window. They need tinted or shades . Some people are worried about getting burnt.

The one star is only a partial reflection of the gym itself but more so for the gym goers. One thing for the gym, need more equipment and the current equipment needs some TLC & WD40. The gym goers.. you gym-tokkers, ego lifters and generally just all around morons that just so happen to disgrace the good name of a gym.. stop coming. You people are inconsiderate, incompetent and all around just have 0 idea how to function in the gym. If jaw exercises were a true thing, those 10 sets of conversations you do in between each set would have everyone repping giga-chad chins. Do your workouts and get off the equipment and go to your next. If you plan to talk after your set, step aside as to not be rude. Being courteous is not hard. It is not complicated to go to a gym properly and use it properly. Do not just walk up and take a machine or the weights from someone. It is not hard to wait and ask if someone is done with their current exercise. The people of this place just absolutely push the buttons and chap the khakis. It takes great power not to deliver sweet chin music in this place. Be kind and courteous and considerate of others in the gym. Not everyone treats this place like a social event.. some of us go to really redefine ourselves.

Let me preface this review by saying that being able to cancel your membership is a part of their customer service here at Golds. I see a lot of people saying it is not their fault but in actuality if the process is not done correctly it falls on them. I was told my account was cancelled over a year ago over the phone due to being on medical bedrest (which I had advised I would email doctor verification and was politely told that wouldn't be needed). Come to find out my account was NEVER cancelled, they also upped the membership fee, which I never agreed to, and then still charged me a $60 annual fee. When I called the associate advised the manager wouldn't be in until later that day and he would give me a call, well 3 days later no call and OH I emailed as well with no response. I decided to call on that Saturday and ask if any management would be onsite and was told the assistant manager would be there. I showed up and was advised my account was obviously never cancelled and all I wanted was to cancel and get the annual fee refunded, not the years' worth of charges they had been charging me. I was told the system was down and they couldn't do any cancellations but promised they would cancel my account and call me. I was livid because I wanted physical documentation of proof of cancellation. The manager called me on the following Monday to advise he had cancelled the account but I still did not have any physical documentation of the cancellation. I do not see the charges so I am assuming it was done correctly and the annual fee was never refunded. I pretty much got told that the other associate who originally was supposed to cancel my account was no longer with the company so it was her fault and there was nothing that could be done about it. Make sure you get your proof of cancellation if you intend on cancelling, otherwise it's an absolute mess.

The purpose of my membership is the group classes. I LOVE the classes, but the sun beating in and the heat are becoming unbearable. Please, please put the tint shades up. It has reached over 80 degrees in that room. That is very unsafe. The people who attend these classes want to feel like they matter just as much as the ones out there lifting weights.

Gold’s Gym - Mechanicsville continues to focus on everything BUT Group Fitness! No expansion means no change for les mills class gym members. It is only March and the room is TOO HOT! The window tint was taken down and we only have a few fans in the front room. The warmer months will be AWFUL. We joke that we need to wear sunglasses to class, but in all seriousness, something needs to be done to help with sun and heat!
