I dropped off for cash for clothes. Store is practically empty. Honestly tell me it's taken to check some t-shirts and hoodie.

I’ve had a customer experience that has gone unaddressed for nearly two weeks. I have been more than gracious with allowing for “Lilly” to respond. I was advised she has no way of contacting her via phone even though her associates can obviously call her. I was directed to her email, which I’ve sent several over the last few days with no response, I’ve left other reviews which have fell on deaf ears, and have called every other day to the store to which I keep getting met with “she’s not here”, mind you, an associate literally told me she would be available today after 12 o’clock. As you can imagine, I call at approximately 1:30 and was advised ding ding DING “she’s not here.” The associates literally can’t even cover for her at this point. I reminded them that I not only sent her emails multiple times but have called, AND have been advised by her own associates that they would pass the message. At this point I’m starting to think there’s no “Lilly” that exist. Either that, or she didn’t care enough to respond and her associates don’t either. I don’t recommend this location to anyone! My next step is the BBB.

I’ve been a loyal Plato’s Closet customer for years. Even though I no longer live close by, I’ve continued to make the drive because I believe in supporting this store. Over time, I’ve donated hundreds of items—clothes, shoes, hats, accessories—and I’ve also spent thousands of dollars shopping here. Most employees know me and there’s usually an understanding that I bring in a lot of items while also purchasing, which often means trading in for a percentage off my purchase.
Unfortunately, today was the first time I’ve ever felt uncomfortable and truly questioned whether I should continue shopping here. When I came back to pick up my buy and purchase the items I had intentionally placed on hold, a new employee was working. I don’t have her name, as she refused to provide it and told me she wasn’t obligated to. From the start she was rude, unprofessional, and even cursing aloud about how “disorganized” things were while looking for my buy and held items.
As she checked me out, I reminded her twice that I wanted to trade in my items for 10% off. Instead, she rang me out, handed me cash for my items, and then charged me full price for the clothes I had on hold. When I reminded her again, she accused me of never mentioning the trade—which was simply untrue. It was incredibly unprofessional for her to tell me what I did or didn’t say, especially since my items were clearly on hold waiting for this exact reason.
When I asked for a manager, I was told none were available and “nothing could be done.” After pressing further, I was eventually told I could email a manager. By that point, I had already wasted my time and energy. The only reason I didn’t walk out was because of the other three employees who had been kind, welcoming, and helpful earlier in the day.
In the end, I spent $215 on my held items—without the 10% discount I should have received—and left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and completely unheard. The absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at Plato’s Closet.
I’m sharing this review not just because I don’t trust that management will follow up, but also to warn other customers that it’s possible you may not receive your trade-in discount—even if you ask for it.

Discriminated against my age, though I have awesome clothes and boots, that any young person would adore. My donations, for lack of a better word, were so far advanced than anything in that store. However, my taste in clothes and particularly boots, are impeccable. I simply can't wear high heels anymore. The name brands speak for themselves. I have the clunky of today, knee high, just amazing fashions that I paid fortunes for, but the girl today saw no value.
Which means she's keeping this store in a disgusting mess of just old, used disgusting YUK. The stuff they have in there has been there for weeks. Obviously it's not selling.
Yet I brought two pairs of boots in there 2 weeks ago, and I didn't see either of them today.
Where is the manager???

Awful location. It’s always so cluttered and messy it’s hard to navigate the store. Also they always low ball what you try to donate. And I’ve heard a lot of stories of people. Bringing clothes to donate and when they came to pick up what the store says couldn’t take it’s been “donated.” Done waste your time and just go to Uptown Cheepskate next to Kroger.

They lost all my clothes and my hamper!!!! I brought a huge hamper and a box of clothes to sell and they said I needed to come back in the morning and when I sent my mom to get the stuff they bought two pairs of shorts both brand new with tags from American eagle for 6 dollars. They didn’t return the hamper or any of those clothes just the small box. Now they have found the hamper somehow but no explanation on the clothes and I cannot get the manager to return my calls. If this was my business I’d want to make sure I compensated my customer for something like this. I’m really upset:(
Lily- thanks for replying to my review but ignoring me whenever I try to contact you. Trying to put blame back on me is crazy when your employees told me I had to come back the NEXT DAY despite the rules. I then had a family emergency, which I didn’t have when I came in the day before. The lack of empathy and compassion will definitely cost you a lot of money. Everyone speaks negatively of you and I can see why. I’ll be filing a police report and speaking with my attorney and more.

I recognize that they don’t control the policies they enforce etc etc, but they do control their customer service. You’d think that would be important considering their customers are the suppliers of their product. Cashier was incredibly rude and dismissive. I am not one to complain but was lowkey shocked. I’m taking this as my sign to just donate my clothes in the future!

So I went into Plato’s closet on Tuesday evening store was kind of empty. They had a nice variety of shoes and clothes, but I had a set of shoes that I was going to sell to them. I was greeted by young lady by the name of Jaia, which your first her attitude was a ok. This young did not look at all the six pairs of brand new Jordans. She only took two pair. He’s a brand new shoes and they’re real. A customer service level was very low it sucked actually I felt that she did not look at what I had to offer and just pushed it off to the side if I had to rate this store a one to 10 at 10 being the greatest or 10 being good I will read the -3 Now the next day I go back into the store and I was greeted by three young ladies Sydney, Kuishonna, and Briana Who is great greeting me at the door offer me great customer service they took the willingness to investigate or explore the shoes that I had they tried to offer me the best price available. These three young ladies made me think differently about Plato‘s closet and also talking about the store. Thank you ladies for your great customer service outstanding job ladies

Cashier Jaya is very rude me and my daughter dropped off a buy yesterday around 6pm and she said it will be ready in about 2 hours . We came back after the 2 hours and she tells us to come back tomorrow even though we waited 2 hours like she mentioned. We only brought one bag so it shouldn’t have been a wait of 2 hours. I know from previous experiences buys are allowed until 8pm so I’m not understanding why it wasn’t done I even came in the next morning (today) and it still was not ready this is so unprofessional. She should not be working here if she can’t do her job right. I’ve sold clothes here plenty of times and this has never happened to me ever . PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS EMPLOYEE IF YOU PLAN TO SELL CLOTHES HERE

I've been to many Plato's Closet's over the years and I have to say this is by far one of, if not the best Plato's Closet I've been to so far. They have a huge selection of clothes for men(more for women) and the staff was great, Especially Sydney 👋. Plenty of shoes to choose from that's actually in great condition. Definitely would recommend this store.
