The folks at Aamco were great, didn’t needlessly charge me, didn’t recommend unnecessary services, and were super friendly!

I have mixed feelings about this place. I’ll give them 3 stars. They have bad miscommunication in this place amongst the employees. One thing I will say for sure if your vehicle is a daily driver don’t take it here to have it serviced because they are extremely slow, I literally had to get impatient to get an update/status on my vehicle…….is don’t understand the purpose of them taking appointments if they can’t assist you in a timely manner……..I’ll have to try them again to change my review….spoke to the mechanic that was extremely rude, definitely needs some customer service training……..John the owner seemed trustworthy but again I have to be serviced again to see what’s what.

STOP!!!!!! BE AWARE!! Be very careful before you think about going to this particular AAMCO at 10231 Hull Street next to Taco Bell. Their customer service or lack there of is horrendous. I called 16 times(why I do not know) between 1/8/2024 and 1/17/2024 to get an official quote only to be given the run around each and every call. I initially spoke with Heather the receptionist gave my (VIN#) Vehicle Identification Number for a quote on 1/8/2024 at 1:51PM and she said she had to talk to the owner and would call me back. No call from Heather. I spoke with the owner, 1/9/2024 at 11:48 AM and gave my VIN# yet again and he said Heather left early and that he would be taking over and promised to call me back later that day for an official quote. The owner gave me a range for the quote($4500 but no more than $6,000) but said he needed to call around for a transmission and offered me finance options if I needed them. The owner mentioned it was the same company Ashley Furniture uses and they would charge $40 if I were to pay the amount of before the allotted time period. After being given the run around for over a week, I showed up to the office. Boy was I in for a HUGE surprise!! Heather was at the desk and said she emailed the quote to me. I said I never received it, and Heather said it may have been sent to my spam/junk file. Of course I checked before making the drive to the Hull Street location. NOTHING in my email or spam/junk mail. Heather then proceeded to print out the quote. The quote came back at around $8200 which if significantly higher than any dealership quoted. Heather's response when I told her what the owner said when he gave me the "unofficial quote" as she had done as well, was he did not realize what was involved. How can you be the owner and not know was my response. You had the VIN information. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! STAY AWAY OR THIS MAY HAPPEN TO YOU!!

Had a problem with my daughter’s car that we thought was transmission. Aamco knew right away it wasn’t, but had to do some trial and error to figure out the problem. They spent a lot of time and effort to troubleshoot, and figured out the problem. The mechanics are very knowledgeable, and the price was reasonable. We would definitely recommend this Aamco!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

UPDATE: 9/22/23. BEWARE!!!!!I just had to pay an additional $1500 to get my recently Aamco, Midlothian repaired van out of the Chevrolet dealership in West Virginia. The mechanic at this dealership said the work was some of the worst that he has ever seen. He told us that that the van still needs additional work. We will be contacting Aamco for some relief and see if they really do warranty their work. I doubt we will be successful. I will update this review again.By far the worse service I have ever experienced on anything. I wish I could give them a negative number. They had my van for about 6 months. The van required an engine. The owner/ manager John advise me to buy it from a company in MI. The first engine did not work. Multiple phone calls to John went un-answered. I had to go to the business on several occasions just to get answer. After about 6 months, I finally got the van back. I spent several thousands of dollars. It ran for less than 2 months and broke down in WV. John called at first to help, and just like the last time, our phone calls back to John are going un-answered. I currently have a call into Aamco’s Headquarters. I also planned to send a message to Bruce Chidsey through LinkedIn. The president of the company should know how their brand is being represented.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

They explained the problem and resolved the issues, a little expensive, but the results were well worth the extra cost.

My car was towed to 10231 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, VA for transmission diagnostic, as it would not shift properly. The car was towed on around the 6 of June 2023 and sat for months to be fixed. Prior to car being towed all other components were working and no leaks. Also, the outer appearance of the car had no physical damage. We picked car up on 20 July 2023 after waiting months to find car had cracked windshield, inside carpet both passenger and driver side soaked with water standing in floorboards. Car A/C not working, and coolant is leaking from front of car with no working coolant fans. Before leaving the shop, my wife and I pointed out to John the owner and his staff the issues. They told us to take a picture of the windshield and send to our insurance company and the A/C leaked out Freon during the transmission installation and that they do not add Freon to vehicles. Leaving the shop with our car in a mess we felt robbed and mis lead. Call owner John on 7/21/2030 about issues and he tried to point blame on me and not fix my issues. After a long back and forth conversation with him I became irritated by his manipulative responses. I advised him I will take action Via Corporate. He later text my cellphone stated he would look at car when I can have a civil conversation. At this point I don't trust him to have my car checked at his shop by the way he's handling this. His demeaner clearly shows he's not going to take responsibility of the issues we have with our car. It's not fair for this to happen to us by entrusting the craftsmanship of what AAMCO stands behind
