I've read the other reviews in which people complained about the staff's friendliness and how the place is full of kids and elderly folks (these reviews seem to be from folks from out of town). Overall, the staff is friendly, and yes, it is full of kids and elderly people. I've been a member for over a decade, and I can tell you this has always been a young family-oriented club. That has been the culture, so if that is not what you are looking for, you should probably consider another gym. Recently, the club management has decided to allow men in the ladies' locker room. Many members have voiced their concerns and displeasure about this policy. Again, this is a family-oriented club, and children use the locker room facilities, so the club is exposing women and children to men who are uncomfortable using the men's locker room. The facility has neutral facilities that these men can use instead of the women's locker room. It seems that ACAC is losing its way.

I’ve been a member of acac since February 2023. I am so glad we finally decided to put this in our budget! There is something for everyone in our family ranging from ages 6- 45. It’s not just a gym, it’s a club! We have all the amenities we need including weights, indoor/outdoor pools, indoor track, classes, weekly activities, and the swim team! The staff is super helpful and the kid zone is an added bonus for us. The kids love it! Great place to be!

Weight room is absolute trash. All the renovations for better equipment have been prioritized to the short pump location. Great staff!

ACAC on Robious is a lovely facility. The instructors are all excellent. Their classes are always multilevel, wellchoreographed, and creative. I have never been bored. They have all been instrumental and inspirational in helping me to reach and maintain my fitness goals. Everyone that I’ve interacted with at this location is very friendly and the facility is always immaculate. I also love being a part of a group that is aware and involved in community outreach.

Absolute worst place to work. The turnover rate is insane because they simply don't care about or pay their employees a liveable wage. If you were considering a career here, PLEASE DON'T.

Always too crowded. They just keep selling memberships. Nice facility but always over crowded!

Wonderful staff and Facilities. The Kid Zone is a great place for your children to play while you work out, and their outdoor pools are great for relaxing and letting your children run wild!

Not very friendly staff. I've actually encountered some rude staff here. The showers haven't been the cleanest either. The short pump facility is a lot friendlier and cleaner. The pools are full of kids camps at Midlothian. I asked what days they were there and the front desk ladies seemed annoyed at me and said they are all day every day and quickly looked past me to ignore anything else I had to say. I tried to explain how hectic it was and they talked over me and looked past me. I had to speak louder and ask for someone in membership. They told me they were in a meeting and took my number. No one contacted me from Midlothian. I had to call the Short Pump location. The pools are packed with kids to the point you can't enjoy it. The camps come in huge groups and as soon as one leaves another one comes. A money making machine for them but terrible for members.

We love acac, gym, group classes and all, BUT kids zone is a disaster! Every time I drop off my 7 year old son and go to pick him up , there’s no one upstairs to watch older kids, 3-4 people downstairs chatting and totally ignoring kids on second floor! We complained couple times but I guess kids zone isn’t their priority….

I think this place is great...welcoming, great classes, newer equipment, and super clean and well run. What more could you want in a club.

I really like the family swim area and we just signed up for the outdoor pool membership. My only complaint is with an older guy that works the front desk. He is extremely rude and not competent at all.We invited guests to swim ( guest pass ) and he was ready to charge me for three memberships.Your front desk is the key to your business.Otherwise is very family friendly.

The best thing I've done is join this gym. The most respectful group of people ever.

ACAC is a beautiful, well managed , clean facility. I particularly enjoy the aquatic facility with its numerous pools and my grandchildren benefit from the Summer Camp every year. They have fun events all year long ie special events for holidays like Halloween, New Years First Day 5K,, etc. Its like a family environment away from home.

I was meeting with the nurse at ACAC about my progress in the P.R.E.P. program suggested by my doctor. Dan's great. Very helpful, friendly and patient.

Only giving it two stars because of the outdoor pool set up. My partner and I went there, for a walk through so we could make an informed decision on a few places we reviewed. I am new to Richmond and to Virginia. When I walked in, I asked if we can walk through the gym, with no sales pitch, we wanted to get a feel for the place. I said I did not want any pressure to buy a membership. The woman at the desk called Vince (?) a gym sales rep over. I told him the same thing , we just want a walk through, without giving over information, nor hearing any sales pitch. I said we just wanted to get a feel for the gym. He was taken a back and was annoyed. A walk through without a sales pitch is not wrong. Aside from the cold demeanor, as we were walked through, there was one other incident. I walked down the left side of the track to glance in the free weight room again, was standing on the left side of the left track... for about 7 seconds (not in the middle) as i scanned the room again on the set up, someone shoved my right shoulder and I stumbled but caught myself. It was a white haired white man, maybe 65-ish y that was speed walked , that instead of stepping one foot to the right, he shoved me insead. I didn't have my phone on me, or I would have taken a picture of him. I was startled. I had not I did nothing. I walked back to my partner shaken up and he and I left. We went to three other gyms that day, just to walk through, and had not had one problem there. I said the same thing at the three other gyms, and everyone was relaxed and friendly. I mentioned it to another older man whom I asked how he liked his gym, he said, yes that other gym is a snobby gym. He had heard lots of stories. How sad. :( It pays to shop around.
