I've used this Avis a few times now. For being a small location, their service is relatively quick and always good, even if there's a long line. I've never had any issues picking up or returning a car here.

They did same day car rentals and made it super easy to rent a car and extend the rental.

Still terrible. Understaffed. Four people in front of me. I’m just looking to drop off a car. Lady at the desk leaves to “clean a car”. Two of us still waiting. Why is this so hard? Assistant dude took mercy on the lady in front of me and tried to help her. She says, “I need a full sized car.” Dude says, “I don’t think we have one.” I say, “I do, checking in a genesis right now .” Luckily it worked out. Spent 10-15 mins in line. The only breath of fresh air in this place is the assistant dude.

Doesn't honor reservations. "We don't have any cars available today," despite taking a reservation and prepay. Doesn't refund you - you have to call customer service and waste even more of your own time to get one.Wasted part of my Friday evening. Don't take reservations you can't honor; and if you do, call the people whose money you take to tell them so they don't waste their energy.

Isn't the cars or paperwork but the people they working are trash how u gonna let employee have clothes 3 sizes to small meat hanging out everywhere spoke to like I'm in educated where as I own a business I'm this city I don't work for rental car company they need to check who is employeed by them food all desk an her shirt digging up in her hair then want to go an touch me no we dont do that if i was u use a different avis this one has some gross items up in that act as if they re better then everyone made me feel like i was bothering them

Never use this Hampton Avis location. Multiple renters in line waiting to be told their vehicle is not available. Car received was filthy. Agent’s only comment: it’s not my fault. Had to drive car given to nearest airport and switch as it was undriveable due to broken front end alignment. Lost day of vacation. No compensation offered. Replacement car contract said fully filled with gas. It was not. I noted this on contract and was told at drop off that there was nothing they could do to refund. This is my second review of gas being charged to me at Norfolk airport fraudulently.

Unfortunately, I give 1 star because my husband set up a rental for our son, who is 22. My husband checked in and told them he was waiting for our son to get there. The 1st attendant shared it will be an extra charge because of our son's age. We read that online upon reservation and were okay with that. After my son and I arrive and get ready to set it up, a 2nd attendant shared that our son has to be 25 . Just frustrating because we drove up there to hear conflicting information and no car for his trip.

Please do NOT book!!! They don’t care about their customers nor their time. Very inconsiderate of my itinerary. If had to attend an event I would’ve missed it and promptly asked for a refund. I do believe this happens everyday at this business. Corporate needs investigate them and their debit car issues. They ran credit reports to rent a car? I spend ALL day a Saturday 7/26/23 with 1 clerk by herself for 3 hours. She did all the work for each customer which led her to close early on customers. I felt extremely rushed when I did my part TWO days before. As a customer I feel played and disrespected by this company. **NEVER BOOK especially if you have urgent matters.**

The customer service was terrible!! The lady In the front has a nasty attitude. I think you guys know this based off the reviews. I almost left because of how bad it was. The car itself was decent but I will never go back to this location due to the customer service. You guys seem short staffed, but that’s no excuse for having a miserable customer service rep. If she doesn’t wanna be there, she should not show up. I ignored the reviews and tried to give it a shot. Which confirmed all of the reviews before. I was supposed to get a kia compact kind of car. I ended up getting a Nissan which was actually better. That’s the only positive thing I can say.Please stop sending the automatic responses to each review and actually address the real problem. It’s the same lady with the bad attitude that everyone is leaving the reviews about. Which means you did not address the issueDISCLAIMER! If you see a black heavy set lady with dreads, please turn around And walk away. If I can remember she had colored tips at the end of her dreadsThe only reason why I tolerated this nonsense, is because enterprise had no more cars left ?

One unhappy person working alone filling all roles. I can't blame her because she was doing all the jobs evening detailing for next rental. Most people turn away after making an online reservation.

Picked up a car and when I got home, I noticed there was a nail in the tire. Called the store and they said bring it back for a trade the next day since they had just closed. Picked up a different car the next day. We packed for our trip and got on the road. A few minutes later we notice the tank was a t half and there was stuff under the seat. It was clear the car hadn't been clean. Overall the car did what it needed it to do and I was in and out quickly on pickup and return.

Have to say every time I use avis I have a great experience!! I was able to pick up a great car for a reasonable price. The people are great there. Ms. Maria runs the show and I love it. Its always a laughing moment when I'm there and quick reliable service thank you and will most def rent again.

The receptionist was great. The location wasn't far. Theirs really never a lot of people their, at least the times I come, only once was it a little crowded. They also take AARP. Which is great !Beyond Grateful,L Sanders

I rented a car with my CREDIT CARD on Nov. 1st and returned Nov. 4th and completed my transaction with my debit card and the hold still remains on the CREDIT CARD that's never happened in all of my 25 years of renting cars.
