I seriously felt like I was in their home. So nice and kind. I'll be honest, I have no idea what I ate. It was a full meal of chicken and rice, lentils, potatoes, and a Naan like flat bread. It was incredible! The owner apologized for it taking a long time (it didn't take long at all) because his wife was making it FRESH! Dude! Don't apologize for that! Seriously, it could have been in their house dining room being served homemade food from a kind couple. The food is awesome. EAT HERE!!!

We have finally found a true authentic Indian restaurant. They make their own spice blends. Nothing from cans. Sooooo good and SPICY.
We went back and there are new owners and they have nothing vegan

We have been waiting forever to try this little spot. However, it's never open when we're in the area. Today, we have been blessed.
From the first bite to the carryout box, absolutely everything was fabulous.
My wife had the Briyani and I, the Masala. The bread basket is worth every penny, and the veggie appetizer platter was mouthwatering.
Service felt like we were guests in someone's dining room more than a public place.
And ambiance is perfect for us due to the quiet.
All in all, I highly recommend giving this spot a shot. It is situated on one side of a full Inidan Grocery store as well for your shopping needs, or simply curiosities.
Thanks again for a fabulous meal!
Vegetarian options: A great deal of Indian food is ok for vegetarians, so you should have no issues getting a good meal that fits your dietary needs.
Parking: Strip-mall lot with more than adequate parking.

Amazing fresh, authentic, and innovative. Ravi, the owner and chef, is truly a creative genius with cuisine. The dishes he serves are varied between traditional Indian cuisine and a touch of modern flair. Very clean, fresh, and uplifting food. His kind and welcoming personality adds to the overall wonderful dinner. A hidden gem in a grocery store delivers quite the special experience. Strongly recommend!

Amazing food at reasonable price. The food is cooked fresh and served very well. The food taste was delicious. We were a group of 7 and dined in for lunch. The place is open all day with food served all the time. The host was able to accommodate our customization requests and served them per the required needs. I would highly recommend this place to everyone who wants hygenic fresh Indian food. This is located conveniently near the highway exit.

my first visit..quaint...small space...yet comfortable...ordered a garden salad w/ hse dressing..peppery dressing and the salad was delish..of course the garlic Naan was divine..my least fav was the paneer(fried cheese) spent more than wanted...would recommend the place altho service was somewhat slow but it was Monday and the owner also runs the store as well..will go back for the salmon tandoori...

One of Newport News hidden gems! All the food I have tried is delicious.. and the grocery store has all the spices grains produce so many items I have found no where else. The family that owns Kundan are so nice and kind. Give it a try you will love it!

Husband and I had a wonderful experience here.
The food was spectacular and the chef as well!
Very kind, delicious food, and great selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Highly recommended. Definitely a hidden gem as another reviewer suggested. Will definitely be going again.

When I tell you authentic! Yes, this is the place to be. I never liked Indian food, until now. This is my 2nd time here, the service is the best, the owner is so friendly and always gives us superior service. The food is always fresh and cooked to personal perfection. It a hidden gem in midtown Newport News on Pilot House Drive. You must come and try the best Indian food in this area.
