What a complete and utter disappointment today at Lidl off Jefferson Avenue in NN, VA. I enjoy going to Lidl and have for years to sample and try their eclectic offerings. I use the app to save money and get freebies. Today, I had 3 freebies to get, one of them being a “meat.” There were several steaks on the “approved” list, however, their steak selection was slim. I chose what I thought was an OK alternative, an organic, grass-fed sirloin. When I got to checkout, of course there was only one employee working, so I went to self-checkout. Upon scanning all of my items, I input my phone number to activate my rewards. The steak did NOT come off my total. I carried my Lidl bag and got in line. I explained what happened and she had to re-ring my items. The steak still was not coming off the total. She called the manager over to assist. Nikki, the manager, stated it was the wrong steak. I responded, you were spare on steak selections, so I chose what was similar. She barked, that’s not how this works, ma’am. I said, OK, can you get me the correct steak? She said no, that my reward did not expire until August 8th and to just come back at another date. I asked if she could just make a substitute as their were no more steaks that were on their approved list. She said no, we don’t do that. I left all of my stuff sitting there and proceeded back to the beef department. After digging around several areas, I located a more EXPENSIVE steak that was on the approved list and went back to check-out. Nikki was so rude and had zero customer service. Her demeanor was almost threatening and absolutely degrading. She could care less about the customer and clearly hates her job. I sat in the parking lot and called corporate Lidl and filed my complaint. They were not accommodating in the least either. What a disgraceful interaction with all parties involved at Lidl. I’m at a loss for how poorly they treated a repeat customer. Sad, sad state of affairs. Nikki should be fired immediately. Rude, rude RUDE.

Best grocery store, ever!! I love shopping at Lidl. I use their app and get infrequent rewards, but overall their prices are so much more reasonable and affordable compared to neighboring grocery stores. When you run into a problem at self-checkout, it can be difficult as Lidl runs on minimum staff. You may have to wait a while until an employee comes to help

As much as I love shopping here, ai never would have thought that I would run across my first fake cucumber at this store. It was rubbery and it took a lot of pressure to break it. Be careful and pay attention to your veggies!!

Literally the new self check out scales are so bad its difficult to pay for anything there and near impossible to just use on a base level. The rest of the store is fine but the self check out wasnt that much of a mess last time i was here.

Fresh produce is sold very quickly. Nice selection at the bakery. Christmas items are cute. The staff does not know what Chanukah is!!! Self checkout is the best option. Plenty of parking
