I have been a member for over 38 years. (Since in grade school). I have gotten and paid off multiple car loans. Great car loan rates! Because I don't have my direct deposit with them, it is difficult to pay loans using an external account. Used to be easy through the online portal. Now that has changed. Good grief. Tired of being forced to have to physically go to the cu to pay bills. And yes, they will take $ out of your savings or checking account without your say if you are late on payment.

Tried a couple of times this week (3/6/2023 - 3/10/2023) to open up an account with them and both times the lobby was closed. They had one teller working at the Drive Thru window. I went there on a Wednesday afternoon around 2:15 pm and the lobby was closed. I went again on Friday around 11:00 am and the lobby was closed. The woman at the Drive Thru said I could fill out a form and bring it back. I asked her if the lobby is ever going to be open to the public and she said doesn't know. I was ready to transfer my direct deposit from the school system to them and even had money ready to be deposited there after opening up an account. It is not worth the trouble. Going to keep my money at Bayport and 1st Advantage instead.

I have been a customer of the Virginia Educators credit union for 30 years or more. Well since Covid closed everything their lobby has not opened yet to help customers. They have been taking money from my account unauthorized. I have a car loan with disability insurance from them. I am currently disabled. The CUNA insurance Company has been sending money to them for my car loan. They are not posting all payments sent by insurance company. They then go into my bank account and take out what they say I owe. This means they are taking double payments for several of the months that they had already received payment. They refuse to talk to me in the drive thru and the manager refuses to give me her name and they will not make me an appointment to check payments on my car. They are keeping insurance payments and taking money from my account. I am very disappointed, and would not refer anyone to this credit union. Help. How do I get my money back?

I was trying to buy a house in the Lake Anna area to benear grandkids. I explained that I am a retired teacher currently living out of state and that i've also had great success with teachers CU's. They took two days and then sent me the forms and information for membership and to apply for a mortgage. both our scores are well above 700. I took a half day filling out the applications, correlating it with my 2021 tax return, and showing my 34 year of service teaching. I also added a $100 personal check to open an account. I then spent $42 express shipping it to them to expedite the process as reasonably priced houses don't last long on the market. On the day I shipped it out , MEREDITH called and said I wasn't eligible for membership as I wasn't in their teaching group. She stated I will return your information unopened? What? will you reimburse us for the $42 shipping, will you help us find and buy a new house since the one we tried to buy is sold. Why? didn't staff know this in advance? Why? did you send me all the information and tell me to return it. I am taking action to recover my expenses. If you can deal with any other FCU I would avoid this one like covid.Paul & Deborah Oliver

The Virginia Educators Credit Union staff is always so helpful, providing professional and courteous service. During early Covid days, when we needed car financing out of state, VECU was there, assisting us throughout the process by phone and online, promptly and efficiently. Thanks for all your support!

This office is a joke. They either service only certain clientele or simply discriminate. I’m a teacher and joined them without checking the reviews. What a mistake. They never answer the phone. Never call you back. Simply ignore you. The whole thing is run by two elderly ladies as a hobby. I strongly discourage you from joking them. I’m pulling out ASAP.
