Was very turned off by the service when we visited. Went to show my son what old school record stores have to offer since records are the things now a day. Remind you we went in the moening broad daylight. We rang the door bell to be let let, and he opened the door and asked us "What we wanted". I was kinda stunned but I mentioned "looking for records". His reply was... "Well this is a record store so that was be us" very rudely. Shocked jist shocked. We were only in there 15 minutes and he followed us everywhere, looking over our shoulders. When he asked my son what he was looking for, and my son answered "he told us he wouldn't find that here and that we needed to check out Target". Just say the way he treates us like criminals, I won't be back!

Based on other bad reviews, it appears we got the true Skinnie's experience. Incredibly rude and creepy vibe from the owner after we got buzzed in like we are visiting someone in lock-up. Didn't browse much since he treated us so poorly. He apparently doesn't want to make any money so we accommodated him and promptly left. There is something very wrong about this place. If you want a story or an interesting adventure for the day, go ahead otherwise I would steer clear

Owner is rude, borderline racist and the store is unsafe.

I had never been to Skinnies Records before, I took a friend with to do a little record shopping. Immediately we were greeted with an old storefront and a locked door with a ring camera to ring to be let in. Once inside the owner asked us what we were in the store for and at the answer of: “Just browsing” he did not seem happy with this answer and continued to become more impatient and irritable to us and started interrogate us further as to why we were in his store. Past that the record store is old, clumsy in layout, and dirty. The records themselves are overpriced and the validity of the pressings can be called into question. Upon browsing for a while and ultimately deciding to leave, we wished the store owner a good day and thank you, both of which were responded to with “Yeah” and “Whatever” As well as a locked door, blocking us from leaving when we wanted, overall do NOT shop or even go into Skinnies Records, not worth your time or energy.

As an avid vinyl collector, I have never been more unwelcomed and disgusted by a record store. The owner was unbelievably rude before we even walked in the store. As I am walking around I am seeing alot of bootleg and not official pressing of vinyls scattered around with official pressings with no indication of being bootleg. Also, every vinyl was extremely overpriced and not worth the time. Also, the store felt very unsafe as you have to ring a doorbell to be let in and somehow get berated for wanting to browse. Then, the owner locks the door behind you and only being let out if he unlocks. Very unwelcoming and unsafe environment with alot of fake product. Do not waste your time or money here and support other local record stores instead.

I loved this place so much! The man who owned the place helped me find the perfect 70s rock records I needed! The owner has so much knowledge to make sure you get the right choice! I asked him even about jazz records and he led me to the perfect record! 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

This store has a wide variety of very low quality bootleg vinyls, if that's what you're into. Everything is overpriced, and the owner is narcissistic, misanthropic, self-entitled, and misogynistic. He has never spoken to me, but only to my boyfriend, and very rudely at that. Non receptive to when we just want to browse. He horribly put down other record stores, saying they don't have a collection as good as his- when his collection is obviously bootleggers and inaccurately priced. Started raising his voice and becoming very aggressive when explaining that we cannot purchase a soda with a card transaction, then opened the door for us to leave, made my boyfriend very uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Do not come here to support this man. I recommend Vinyl Daze Records, Not for the Weak Records, and AFK Books and Records. They all have amazing customer support and a great selection of punk, rock, and more.

Super sketchy vibe, felt unsafe. The front door was locked and we had to ring a doorbell and be let in, he stopped us at the door to ask why we were there and I said I just wanted to browse. He didn’t seem happy with that so I asked if that was okay, and he said fine, which felt a little rude. Felt like we were a bother for coming in. We started to look at the collection, reviews have said it was a good collection but it was one of the smallest and most chaotic record stores I’ve been to - and I’ve been collecting for 15 years so I’ve seen my fair share. He told me I couldn’t have my covered beverage while browsing, which I guess is fine but then he asked me to place it in THE NASTIEST fridge. While we were browsing, at some point he locked us in the building with him. It was not clear when he chose to do this, but when we tried to leave we couldn’t get out right away and had to figure out how to unlock the door. It felt incredibly uncomfortable and truly a bit dangerous to be locked in a building with a stranger without our knowledge. Also, prices are terrible there were opened records that had clearly been resealed and were being priced as brand new, I’ve seen the same vinyls for less money at big stores like Barnes and noble. That’s trash, the local places are usually much more honest. ALWAYS check prices against Discogs yall! Check the corners and the seals! Don’t get ripped off! 0/10 would not recommend.

The rudest shop owner I have ever seen in my life. HAVE SOME RESPECT TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! Because you’re still running this business that means people who shop in your place feed you!!! If you don’t like this then close your business and represent your grumpy face in your home to your beloved record collection! You may know some stuff about music but nothing about being kind and respectful! Never go there again!

The best thing I could say about this place, is it's a older punk rock puritan record store. While the store itself has a decent collection of used and some-what new vinyl, it does not cater in any way to newer listeners. If you're looking for anything relatively recent, I would say don't even bother checking here as they likely will not sell it. If you dare ask the man behind the counter if they will be getting any records in the future or could procure the vinyl for you at a price, you will be told the inventory they have is as good as it'll get and in their own words, "why should I spend money to increase my inventory slightly for a few of your sales? I spread myself thin as it is already and if you cannot find what you're looking for here, then I cannot help you" It is very clear by demeanor of the staff they have no intention to work with your tastes and prefer their own above all else.As for the management, from reading other reviews it seems like the attitude you'll receive from the staff is a total coin-flip on how you're treated with no specific reason to warrant said service. Either the staff will like you, or you will be treated less than human here. I personally am an advocate of supporting your local record stores, even if sometimes you're looking for something specific that may not be readily available. Speaking to my personal experience, I had a metal artist in mind and wished to purchase a new record of their EP, and was told there was no stock. That was a completely acceptable answer as I didn't believe it would be, so I had asked if there was any way I could attempt to purchase it through the store. I was met with the previous comment mentioned, stating what they have in stock is the best they can get with not even the slightest attempt to try and work around my tastes in music, while stating they had no desire to do so either. To be completely honest, if words could kill, the way this man spoke would tell you that you are not wanted there. I would've gladly paid a finders fee or for the shop to purchase the vinyl on my behalf and establish a relationship with the business, but I immediately was met with a condescending attitude from the staff that seemed annoyed I had even stepped foot in their store. With the completely turbulent and negative attitude of the staff, and the utter lack of any customer service or ability to build report with their shoppers, I would tell anyone there's no reason to even bother shopping here.

The owner was extremely helpful and a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. Bought a few records left, something he said took thirty minutes to sink in and I made a u-turn and bought another album!

Called to ask about a specific record in a certain music genre and the owner said he didn’t appreciate my call because he thought it was a prank… extremely rude do not support this “man”
