I’ve been living here for over a year with no complaints. staff has changed recently so I’m just going to blame the slow/non existent replies on them having to adjust, maintenance (bernard) is extremely nice & helpful though.

I have lived here for over a year now, and I really love living here. The location, building amenities, upkeep, and community are great for the price I pay. The staff have consistently been professional and amiable. We are about to come into new management, and I hope they will be as kind, responsive, and courteous as the team I moved in with. The lead maintenance guy has been AMAZING and is always helpful when things come up. From the moment I moved in here, I was helped so quickly, the application process was so easy, and I have felt at home. I don't have to deal with inspections almost every month like other places and the walls are secure enough that I rarely ever hear my neighbors. The rooftop is a dream... I'll be renewing my lease and hoping for the best from new management. I tell everyone looking for a cool place to live to apply here.

At this point not a single person can convince me an emergency drain hole in the bath tub is supposed to drain into the wall instead of into a drain to prevent flooding. I’m told it’s for emergency water overflow… okay so if that’s the case it should prevent flooding and water leaks!!!! There’s visible MOLD and sitting water!

Towed my car while having a paid pass.
Gate clicker didn't work consistently.
Didn't get the majority of my deposit back for issues noted during the move-in.
Barely stayed there for 1 year, and in that year maybe only spent 30 nights there.
Wouldn't recommend to anybody else.
There was also a shooting in the parking lot once time. That area of Norfolk just be like that, not necessarily Wainwright's fault.
Edit: I see that they replied. My experience was from 2020-2021 and things may have changed since then. Thanks for replying.

I had the pleasure to visit the Wainwright this month for an apartment inquiry. Once I walked in the door I was greeted by Brittanie, Brittany and Shaniya. Which was one of the selling points for me to now be a resident of the Wainwright!

I can’t speak to the living portion of the apartment yet, but the application process was very quick and I had a lot of help from the leasing agents. I called and had a video tour within the day. I signed quickly and the team helping me (Shaniya and others) responded to each of my emails within a few minutes. The apartment I was looking at was off the market and they alerted me immediately when it was back on so I was able to get a really nice 1BR apartment at a price I was satisfied with. I have high hopes for the rest of the rental process and living situation.

Just recently signed a lease and moving in soon. The Wainwright has a beautiful and historic lobby which makes it a welcoming place to enter. The staff has been incredibly helpful for my transition into a new apartment. Brittanie, Brittany and Shaniya are all incredibly friendly, and helpful people, with them every question I have gets answered quickly. I have nothing but satisfaction with my experience so far.

Having spent nearly a month at The Wainwright, I can say that my experience here has been nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I stepped into the leasing office for a tour, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by Brittanie, who went above and beyond to address any concerns I had and ensured a seamless move-in process on a short turnaround time.
The leasing office staff is responsive and attentive, making it clear that resident satisfaction and building upkeep are top priorities. Any concerns throughout the building are promptly addressed, fostering a sense of security and comfort.
The Wainwright is a great place to look if you're in search of a prime location, outstanding staff, and privacy while still being in the heart of downtown!

The Wainright is a beautiful historic building. When you enter the lobby, the elegance of the past can be seen everywhere, from the original bell to the old mail slots.I lived at the Wainwright for almost 18 months and felt safe there. There is no noise between the apartments; everyone is friendly and keeps to themselves.Liz and Britanny were super helpful throughout my stay, and maintenance issues were handled quickly. The rooftop lounge was great for watching thunderstorms. I did not park in the back lot, but the lot across the street, and I felt safe walking to my car.The Freemason District is full of historical charm. The Elizabeth River is within walking distance, and there are a lot of places to eat. I enjoyed the fireworks when the baseball team was playing at home from the roof. It is easy to find a scooter or catch the Tide. The Crysler is very close, and plenty of places to explore on foot. If I miss anything about the Wainwright, it is the rooftop lounge and the sunsets.

Real classy place. Beautiful historic building with one of, if not the greatest and nicest property manager I've ever had. The entire leasing office has rockstars running the building and the maintenance team is second to none in the area

The building does not look anything like the pictures on the website. The apartments are extremely tiny. The roof is not safe, and neither is parking. I’m looking elsewhere and I suggest you all do too. Somebody is lying in all these five star reviews. Because this ain’t right. Smells like weed too. The building could use a deep cleaning. The music in the lobby was cool. That’s is the one star! One of the people in the leasing office was rolling, her eyes so hard I thought they were going to roll right out of her head.

Adrienne made our trip to Norfolk to tour apartments worth it. She asked all the right questions, her energy was radiant, and she never missed a beat. The properties she showed us were wonderful, but her warm and welcoming presence was a game changer.

The clubhouse and rooftop access is so cool! Great location for walking to and from restaurants and shops is a huge bonus.
