Nice little post office on base. 4 stars because they only had 1 worker and they take lunch from 1230-130. It is in a food court if you need to wait.

This post office blows! Every time I go in there it’s something. Can’t get customs forms because they don’t have the new ones. Can’t send a mailer because the system is down to print labels. What’s the point of being there? They’re not even open a full business day.

Always professional and on time considering the location and the many changes the installation in making within the building. I can definitely rely on them to get my packages shipped out to it's final destination on time always. Thanks for all you do at the USPS.

I mailed and tracked an envelope from Fort Cavazos, TX to a post office box at this Post Office (on Gilbert St.) and it took three weeks for mail to be delivered to the P.O. Box. The address label was written correctly. The tracking data showed that the envelope was going back and forth between the Richmond, VA distribution facility, the Norfolk distribution facility and a Norfolk Post Office at a different zip code, not the destination zipcode. Because of previous delivery problems in year 2023 with the mail delivery in the 23511 zip code area, I make a habit of photographing the address label. In March 2024, when I submitted an inquiry on the USPS website for priority mail not delivered yet, the USPS employee that called me (I think it was the manager at the Gilbert Street Post Office/Naval Base Branch) stated the label was "probably" wrong. The address label was 100% correct, to include the +4 zip code format.
I might have to start having Federal Express or UPS to deliver mail to a P.O. Box, since the Post Office cannot get their act together.

This post office has very bad hours, not convenient at all.

This post office has always been poor service for the regular patron. it's situated on the base and operates with limited hours. If you are a 10 am to 3 pm Monday thru Friday administrative government worker this is geared for you. Luckily there are other post offices with better hours off base and the option of UPS exists as well off base. If the hours could be expanded and not having to close for lunch or other contingencies it would benefit the consumer and be more on par with other post offices.

Came to drop off a package after work and they had their “closed for lunch” sign up. scribbled out the 1:45pm time stamp on the sign and wrote 2:30. they close at 3:00pm … real convenient

This place is hot garbage. If you’re wanting a package you’re better off sending it to a friends house or someone you know. Do not pay for service here.

Not open during advertised hours. They seem to be closed from 1200 - 1400 for their siesta style lunch hours.

Came by on my lunch break, they close for the entirety of lunch hours (when a Sailor would have an opportunity to make a drop). Don’t waste your time planning on being efficient and shipping anything while you have lunch at the food court. Showing “busy during this time” at 12-1400 must be the food court traffic, certainly not USPS. Jelly I don’t get 2 hour lunch with my government job.
