The Virginia Zoo is a wonderful, family-friendly spot that feels like a sunny escape. It is an AZA accredited zoo focusing on conservation, with top notch staff and amazing grounds. Visitors describe it as a zoo, a botanical garden, a petting farm, a small water park and a children's play area all in one beautiful package. The exhibits are designed with care for the animals and the viewing enjoyment of the guests. The paths are easy for a relaxing walk, making it a nice size for a great day out. It is a fun place for kids, especially in summer with sprinklers, a train ride, and ice cream. The events and member weekends are great, making a yearly pass highly recommended. It is a happy, relaxing place to spend the day.
Even when its cold its still a fun place for the kids to go. Really love they are adding additional areas to keep things entertaining

Great relaxing day out with my elderly mother in law and friends. Nice size for an easy walk and the animals were active. We appreciated the bathroom availability throughout the park.
