“It's a local gem of a store. These antiques are top quality, well made to last you a lifetime, and are really beautiful. The owner Gail really knows her stuff, the history, how things are made, used etc. We have bought a few things over the years. But we always like to stop by and see the new items. Melrose was the first local shop we checked out when we first moved to Orange years ago and we immediately fell in love with it and its owner. We have also brought many of our visiting friends there to shop who ended up buying things and taking them back to their homes far away. Prices are fair as you are paying for high quality timeless classical pieces that will last for ever and will always be in style.”
“If you are in need of antique building materials, there's a very good chance that Salvagewrights has it. From doors, to logs, to flooring, to fixtures, the selection is varied and extensive. We have done business with the owner, Craig Jacobs, for more than 30 years. During that time, we have purchased bricks, glass, logs, lightning rods, door knobs and other assorted antique building materials. In addition, Craig actually assisted in the construction of our house (an 1850-vintage log cabin attached to a 1790-vintage Virginia farmhouse). He has also been engaged in historic restoration for many years so has deep knowledge and understanding of the challenges and needs of old buildings. On top of it all, Craig is an enormously nice guy. Salvagewrights Ltd. is a great local business.”

“I stopped in yesterday while in town for an event and spoke with Deanna about what I was looking for. She was so welcoming and so excited to show me some pieces that were along the lines of what I wanted. You could tell she has so much passion for her job and for all the beautiful pieces in the store. She's an absolute delight and I'm so happy I met her yesterday. I saw some of the most stunning pieces. There's a gorgeous buffet table in the middle of the store that I wish I could have taken home with me. So much beautiful china, art, furniture, lighting, jewelry and all priced really well. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area and I'm checking out an online auction that they're doing tomorrow. Highly recommend!”

“Sally has a good eye, indeed, and everything in the shop is curated with good judgment. I have purchased both large pieces (table and chairs) and small (a humorous children's book on the Constitution). I would say look here first if you need something for the house.”
