They put in a transmission in my Jeep about 5 years ago. I haven't had any problems. Customer service was great.

I have taken my truck to Gene's several times, once to have a leaking rack & pinion replaced, another time to have a power steering pump replaced, and another time to change out a alternator & lastly to fix a loose shifter. Also, of course to have the annual inspection a couple times. I feel lucky to have found an honest & professional mechanic and it doesn't hurt to that they are located a half an hour from where I live <3.

Several months ago, I was traveling from Annapolis to Charlotte. It was Saturday, and the front of my car sounded like my brakes were failing. Found Gene's on a search. Gene identified the problem (not brakes) and fixed it right then. He was a life saver. I highly recommend.Service: General repairs & maintenance

First how can you speak on details when you told me yourself you dont understand how any of it works? I'll wait?........ Should I screenshot every other person I know who has had a bad experience with you all even when your husband did the installation?. Nah dont think you would like that! Their response to my review is so full of bs it doesnt make sense. They cant even respond accurately and factually. Whats wrong hubby get mad when you talked smack behind his back? Lets please do elaborate how does a transmission overheat when its not tied into the radiator and has a constant fan? Common sense calls that builder error. He is the one who said external cooler will be fine do not tie into the radiator so the only variable in play is the build. And I did pay for the transmission as well as the customer partially. Sounds good but sounds like an excuse and you did say your husband is very bipolar. You wouldnt have to beat on my van door multiple times to honor my builds as we tend to perform repairs right the first time and stand behind our work unlike your business. There is a reason we have 5 star reviews with no negative reviews unlike yourselves. Pathetic as can be and as crooked as they come! Went there to get a transmission rebuilt they didnt seem very confident in their work when I got it back. Out $2800 and several thousand more having the job done twice and having to take them to court. . Lied on my work order said it was OVERHEATED on reman. Engine as well . cooler was seperate from radiator as well as heat tab remains for warranty on the engine proving it was never overheated Soon as i mentioned court he said i voided my warranty. He is very bipolar according to his wife. Burrs on pump are in direction of operation not installation as the transmission was mated to the engine outside of vehicle but tried to blame it on me. They are straight crooks DO NOT GO THERE!PICTURES SPEAK A THOUSAND WORDS and I have plenty

This place is a COMPLETE JOKE!! My usual mechanic couldn’t diagnose my vehicle so he recommended Gene’s Automotive. My husband called in advance to see about taking my vehicle there. They told us to just bring it up there. As they were ending the day early, it was decided that we would bring it the next morning. I took it the following morning. I never heard anything back about a diagnosis that day. I knew they had been closing the shop early so I called the second day around 2:30pm as I hadn’t heard anything. The receptionist answered and said my vehicle was next to be looked at. I waited the third day as I still hadn’t heard anything. I called and receptionist (Charles’ wife) answered and I was told they were looking at it as we spoke. Didn’t receive a call back. So I called again at 3:45 being as the shop would be closing soon and it was Friday afternoon. I get put on hold for almost 10 minutes. Michelle then gets on the phone and said her guys had been backed up so they sent my vehicle over to the transmission shop. I asked why the transmission shop? She said the transmission shop was closing earlier than her shop and that I needed to hold while they closed the transmission shop, then that manager would speak to me. So I hold. About 10 minutes later, Charles, who states he is the owner, proceeds to tell me I don’t need to be questioning who was looking at my vehicle, how he’s the owner, and looks at every vehicle himself. He tells me how his shop is backed up and how most shops are backed up almost two months. While he’s making excuses for himself and stumbling over his words, I’m just confused. All I wanted to know was if my car had been looked at. I hadn’t been rude with anyone. As soon as he finishes excusing himself, I simply state that all I was doing was calling to see if my vehicle had been looked at so I didn’t understand why all the explanations. He then tells me that it’s after 4pm and his shop is closed, so he doesn’t need to take this from me. Again, I’m confused and awestruck at this point over how he’s speaking to me! I responded by saying that I don’t understand why they even agreed to look at my vehicle if they are so backed up or why they didn’t let me know upfront. He started his mess again so I just hung up. I’m headed to the shop now to see if I can even pick my vehicle up since the shop I took it to is open. The tone, words, and excuses coming out of Charles’ (the owner) mouth gives me such an uneasy feeling as if I should’ve never even taken my vehicle to this place to begin with.

Got stuck with a bad alternator coming down from Jersey to SC. We looked up shops and were lucky enough to find Genes Automotive. Even though it was past 4 o’clock they were friendly, helpful, and set us on our way in less than an hour. Highly recommend!

The people at Genes are legitimately the nicest people in the auto repair business. On a 10 hour road trip from New Jersey to South Carolina we had to have our alternator changed and they had it done in less than an hour. The best experience I've had at an auto shop.
