Updated Review:
I have had nothing but pleasant and friendly interactions since shortly after submitting the initial review. Maybe the team was having a challenge adjusting. At any rate, the change is so dramatic that it warranted an update to my shared experience (I am especially enjoying my interactions with Ms Sinclaire).
Initial Review:
The short haired woman, Tanya, who is now unfortunately working at the Poquson USPS, has a very slow work process (long customer lines and works through the packages at an incredibly slow rate). She has a very unpleasant & expresses a condescending demeanor if any questions or concerns arise during the transaction.
Alternately, the long-haired gentleman (I believe it is Richard, but I do not get to see him enough and was unable to get his name) who works at this location is inviting, warm, friendly & works diligently to move the customers, through the line, at a reasonable pace.
It would be appreciated, by customers who live in Poquoson, if the window service could be Someone who exhibit Customer Service skills & is attentive to the fact that time is precious, and the people in line have other things to be doing rather than spending an incredibly long amount of time at the post office due to Tanya’s slow work rate. Thank you.

This post office is awful. There was nobody working at 2:15 in the afternoon on Thursday, July 24, 2025. There was a sign on the door said out to lunch from 2:20 to 3:20 PM. That’s unacceptable. There are plenty of people that need a job.

Literally one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. The woman was so absolutely rude from the very first time she opened her mouth. This is an ongoing issue with the poquoson post office as MANY people have this same issue. Something needs to seriously get done about this, I know plenty of people that drive out of their way to go to Yorktown now just because of the lack of professionalism in poquoson.

The lady with the short hair, working the front is rude and not helpful. She delays work flow just to prove a point to a customer if they filled out something incorrectly. 8 people waiting by the time she finished 1 when only myself and the last she was being rude to were there to start. Rediculous service. And no other employees in the building to help. Do better Poquoson post master. I've been here before and it was never this bad.

I would like to speak with the post master responsible for this office, I and many others are having an issue with the only lady that works in this office, she is rude , condescending and unprofessional. Today as I frequented this office I asked the clerk for more crates as I have a home based business where I ship hundreds of packages , the clerk refused to give it to me and said this is not for personal use. She didn’t ask to verify if I had a business or a reason for the boxes she just wanted to give me a hard time. I have been to this office many times to pick up crates and never have I had anyone refuse to give them to me and accuse me of using it for personal use. She did end up giving g it to me without actually verifying my business which tells me there is absolutely no policy in place for ensuring the crates are received by business owners - so why then did she proceed to be rude? I would love to speak to speak to her manager- she also refused to give me his or her information. I will simply ship with UPS if something isn’t done about this their rates are actually the same if not better! The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because there are some very nice employees there- just not her.

Would give 0 stars if it were an option. Was told that if we request our wedding invitations to be hand sorted that they will be machine sorted anyway, so there is "no use in requesting your mail be hand sorted". Also took the invitation and wax seal up there yesterday to get stamps that would accommodate, once we attached the wax seals and sealed the envelopes to drop off for "hand sorting" that was the answer we were given and we were told we needed more postage, even though they weighed the same the day prior. Frustrating when we were proactive in going the day before. Highly disappointed in the lack of interest in helping customers from a Federal building of whos employees only work 6 hours a day. Highly unprofessional and lazy.

The mail post lady/delivery driver keeps putting packages in the wrong houses here at Poquoson Place, it’s like she is playing games guessing on the apartments and not doing her job properly. We end up bothering the neighbors because of her, I had rescheduled a package delivery and she didn’t even bother to knock on the door, she left the redelivery slip inside the mailbox without even re-attempting to leave the package at the door and knock. Also for the incoming mail, there is mail pieces that don’t belong here and we write on them to return to sender and she doesn’t even bother to take them either, she just keeps stuffing the mailboxes and not even checking if there is something that needs to be returned. Absolutely awful if you don’t want to work, someone else would definitely enjoy having the opportunity to have your job and doing it how it’s supposed to be. It’s so much ignorance because she doesn’t even read any of the instructions either. Definitely need to go work somewhere else. Definitely not in mail delivery.

My friend and I went here last Friday with some big boxes to send to our deployed friends and loved ones, we did not realize how long the paperwork (for customs) to send these would take but Will explained everything and was so patient and nice even though we wound up being there way past when the post office closes to get it all finished. Thanks so so much to Will for making what could’ve been an awful experience a very positive one instead.

Can't get anyone to answer a phone or a question. When questions do get answered, the staff are rude and want nothing to do with you.
