In town for the holidays. The manager worked with us. Had a great week of working out. There were classes right in the middle of the gym, I think long term would have been annoying for my work outs, but the people taking the classes seemed to enjoy them

I joined AF Purcellville in April 2023 and am so glad I did. Nicholas and John have been extremely welcoming, helpful and oriented me with all the gym has to offer. From my Inbody scan to getting a dietician (free with insurance), not to mention showing me some exercises and correct form, I already feel I’ve gotten more out of my experience than the average gym. The equipment suits my needs and there is everything I need for a well-rounded workout. I really like the vibe of this gym, and people of all fitness levels attend. The price is comparable to what is offered. I needed to freeze my membership temporarily for medical reasons and I had no issues doing so (I had a doctor’s note). I highly recommend. A+

The jury is still out. It is more a coaching gym then a commercial gym. Equipment is satisfactory but after trying Olympia right as covid hit, cleanliness has become more important. It is clean, people are friendly and the 24/7 hrs of operation is a definite boon.

Giving it 2 stars simply because the price is way too expensive for the amount of equipment and amenities provided. I’ve been a member of a number of different gyms over the year and this one has been the smallest yet also somehow the most expensive. I’ve only stayed a member here because there’s not many options in Purcellville…

I was a member for a year and recently ended my membership. All and all, it's very middle of the road, but my rating is comparative to other Anytime Fitness gyms not necessarily to other gyms (see takeaways below). I'd give them 3 stars, but their cancellation process is intentionally designed to be cumbersome and tedious, requiring a 30 day written notice and then an in-person interview during their limited staff hours. That alone ensures I don't recommend this place to anyone and drops them to 2 stars. I really don't like wasting my time with unecessary meetings and clearly predatory contract clauses like arbitration and extended cancellation notice periods.A few takeaways about the gym itself:1. Price is reasonable at $32-$35 every two weeks. What is not reasonable is the additional $35 they charge every quarter - this charge was imposed during COVID days for "cleaning supplies" and was never removed. In total this amounts to $1,000 a year, not including any additional services.2. The staff keeps to themselves. Personally, I prefer this but if you're looking for a hype brigade, go elsewhere as they only focus on the folks paying for additional coaching services.3. They have a nice open training area but it's used to give classes most weekday mornings, which renders this area hard to use due to limited space. Evenings are fine.4. Amenities are alright. Showers and bathrooms like every other place. Mostly clean, but for the price I'd expect a basketball court.5. Good number of machines, but equipment (such as bands) is hoarded for classes.

This is my favorite little gym. It's not a big warehouse of a place, but it has everything one needs. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and accessible.

All of the team members are extremely helpful and polite every time I am in the gym. It's great to be a member at a gym where the people who work there actually know my name and say hello. It makes the environment feel more welcoming unlike the other gyms I have been a member at in the past.

Please consider the following before signing an agreement. If you do not cancel before moving the area, the costs will mount because AF did not assist us with canceling. We were intentionally ignored while the cost increased month after month. Our family moved from Purcellville after my contract ended. Canceling our monthly memberships turned into a 14-month process because the Purcellville staff would not return phone calls to cancel the monthly billing. Ultimately, I contacted AF headquarters and they informed me that only the local Purcellville franchise may cancel billing. So, we continued calling. Finally, after leaving many voicemails, my husband was able to get a hold of a staff member when he left a voicemail that he would like to sign up for a membership. Only then did AF return a phone call to end the billing process. Interestingly, his phone call was returned within about two minutes, likely only because a potential new-member voicemail was heard. This 1+ year process cost us approximately $800.There are ethical business practices and unethical business practices. Intentionally not assisting a customer to cancel after they have moved far away falls into one of those categories. I will let the reader decide.

The gym is newer and kept clean; however, my husband and I have noticed that many of the hand disinfectant dispensers are constantly empty and are rarely filled. They are supposed to keep these full at all times. Both my husband and I have brought this to the attention of the staff to no avail. This would not be a big issue for me, but they charge an additional $35.00 every six months to allegedly keep up these "amenities."Every gym I have ever attended provides cleaning wipes for the members to use to wipe down the equipment. This is beneficial to both parties, as no one wants to work out on a sweaty machine and their staff doesn't have to periodically wipe down the machines. Here they charge you $70/year for these wipes, the hand sanitizer, and "extra" cleaning. The cleaning cost should be built into the membership by the way - one suggestion: have the trainers do some of the cleaning instead of bringing in outside help to cut down cost. They have a lot of down time to be on their phones from what I have observed. This is something that mitigates COVID and should be a top priority for management. If they correct this, I would give them five stars. 1 star for every 6 months that they keep the dispensers full.

This is my home town gym and I've always liked it. There is a good assortment of equipment, the staff is professional, and the place is always clean too. People are friendly but it is not a social club. There is secure 24*7 access with a key fob. It may be the hours I keep, but I never wait for equipment, except occasionally the stair machine.
