BEWARE! You now need a special ID to be able to get into the base to get to this station. The guards will not let you enter.

I went there and there were no workers, no announcements, and the screen didn't work. We didn't see a sign to say with was northbound or southbound. I ended up missing my train.

Pre-pandemic, the VRE station in the little town of Quantico was easy to get to and convenient to my apartment; however, there is now a new security posture that makes taking the VRE train impossibly difficult! To access the base and VRE Station, you must first go to the MCBQ Visitor Center with approved forms of Government I.D. to obtain a visitor pass on base for the VRE. You can't call, you must visit in-person. The process takes about an hour, and depending on your situation, you will be issued a visitor pass that might be valid for two days, a month or longer. For me, it is not worth the hassle just to ride the train to work. There is no longer a person working in the station, but you can still sit and wait for a train in the building.

I wouldn't use this station if you are non military. You have to get a pass to access the base. Amtrak should advertise this restriction.

Be careful with the Quantico Station. It is a Military Base. If you do not have a military ID you may have a hard time getting to train or if you get off there and you have someone picking you up and they dont have an ID they may not be able to get you. I have arrived at Quantico many times w little trouble. Today I was turned away and had to rush to Woodbridge. I understand it is a Military base but Amtrak should note there may be issues.

I'm glad the train station doors were open after arriving 1.5 hrs late. The attendee was very nice.
