This is the absolute worst bank I've ever tried doing business with. Customer service in nonexistant. They act like they're being put out by doing their job, which for the most part they have no clue how to do. They are not helpful, they're defensive and try to do the absolute least they can do to get you to walk out the door. Really terrible for a bank. I've had better customer service at CVS.

Long time customer of what was Access National Bank. Since the takeover by Atlantic Union customer service in the branch is horrible. No greeting upon entering. All services at a desk - no teller window. Two times I went in to simply cash a check and you'd think they are reprogramming the computer system! So much data entry, moving to a second desk. Should not take excess of 5 minutes to cash a check!

All prior phone numbers no longer work. Calling on line phone number directs the caller to an answering service which requires you know the name of a person, trying to operate on line from a cell phone has been impossible. My 19 yr experience with its predecessor spoiled me to expect personal service. Soon after Atlantic took over my passwords were canceled without warning I was unable to access on line banking. It appears that the canceling of passwords may be a repeating phenomena. I am now waiting on a phone call from my local branch as I had to call an on line number which was a hundred miles away asking them to have a local contact me so I can once again get access to my accounts.

Poor customer service. I set an appointment online to open an account, then received a call about 20 minutes before the appointment asking me to bring in materials they needed to open the account. They never said what these materials were, but said they would send an email. I was already on my way in to the bank so it wouldn't have mattered anyway, but it's been several days and still no email.

The worst bank EVER! They took over my Middleburg account and treated me like @rap. No ATM anywhere near me, can only go to branch office during working hours. Hey, I work too!

I was moved to this bank after it acquired Middleburg Bank last year. Middleburg had a location in the Reston Town Center area and was quick and convenient. Access National is way out on the eastern edge of Reston, a nook in the lobby of an office building you reach after climbing like 20 stairs. You can't just walk in, you have to be buzzed in when the teller finally sees you at the door. Its online billpay system is clunky and so not intuitive. The tellers are competent and nice. They boost my rating to 2 stars.

Access National Bank bites and recently acquired our local bank. We are moving our personal assets and the business accounts in a few short weeks. I cannot believe that Middleburg Bank sold out to these people. The customer service is out sourced, the bill pay options have changed dramatically and it is difficult to talk with a real person.

Worst bank ever! As soon as they purchased Middleburg I should have yanked all of my accounts! Horrible customers service!

If I could possibly give the Reston location negative marks I would. The branch manager (Diane) was less than helpful over the phone even when the issue turned out to be with the bank (Shocker). Access took Middleburg Bank over and COMPLETELY destroyed a wonderful customer focused financial institution. All this bank is interested in is how much money they can make off depositors. I had to call into the call center to get someone to help remotely figure out what the BANK had done to my account and then go into the Ashburn location. Thankfully the manager and staff at the Ashburn branch were super nice and accommodating. They fixed my issue so that I could return back to work knowing my account was correct now. I'll NEVERuse Reston for ANYTHING again. Not even to withdrawal money from the ATM.

After more than a decade with Middleburg, Access National Bank took over and changed policies on small accounts implementing a $15 monthly service charge, apparently for balances under $1500. So they emptied out $105 of a $235 dollar account without any consideration of how ludicrous that would be for anyone that was aware of what was going on. Poor service, poor online tools, simply an outdated company that doesn't even provide a good local experience anymore.
