I am very pleased with the professional and courteous service provided by Safeway Pharmacy at South Lakes in Reston. I know there are several pharmacists there, but I have dealt primarily with Elly, Mary and more recently Hope. I experienced a significant medical event three and a half years ago which led to a raft of medications, the prescriptions for which changed almost month-to-month during the first year or so of recovery. Elly was instrumental in accommodating these changes. When I transitioned from private insurance to Medicare, she was instrumental in providing me the information I needed to insure that different medications were properly billed to the appropriate Medicare plans. I find this pharmacy superior to several others with which I dealt, and have moved all of my pharmacy business here as a result.

Terrible service. They rejected my prescription because according to them my doctor hadn't okayed it. Called the doctor's office, they sent an Okay to pharmacist. I thought that was all fixed.
No. called the next day, same problem. called the doctor's office...repeat loop!
Aweful. I stick to CVS or Walgreen, from now on

This staff is exceptionally good, Elli most importantly. Inquires and emergency requests are treated with curtesy and diligence.

Wow. 1.9 rating! Understandably at this location. What's wrong with Ellie? She demands something totally needless, non-existent, wasting everybody's time. My husband and I hold Medicare B. We filled out our Medicare account numbers and presented the Covid vaccine request forms to her. Once again (like 8 months ago), Ellie demanded that we present the Athena pharmacy card, which we never heard of in our 40 plus years of being in the Aetna network. More outrageous matter was Medicare B covers the vaccine! How long has the virus around and how many Medicare patients has she handled!? Why cooking up an unnecessary demand, which we didn't quite understand? Nevertheless, my husband faithfully followed her instruction for Aethena to give a call to Safeway pharmacy. He spent more than 30 minutes on the phone with Aetna representative, who at the end told my husband such thing does not exist. Meanwhile, I Googled about the Medicare B coverage. There, it clearly says Medicare covers the Covid vaccine! I asked her about it. She said it might work and she would check. What?! You didn't and don't know it? How many persons have you vaccinated and now demand this nonsensical request? She gave up getting the Aetna pharmacy or Medicare C card and finally prepared the vaccine for us. My husband was still on the phone trying to get what she wanted from Aetna when Ellie was giving a shot to him. The bizarre story was that about 8 months ago, according to my husband, she demanded Medicare C, the exactly same thing! Is he out of her mind? She needs a mental treatment for this bizarre behavior, if not a rigorous training about the customer care. She does harm vulnerable patients who get lost trying to answer her demands in deep frustration. Safeway pharmacy had been very reliable until we moved to this region. What an awful staff member in this branch!

Getting a prescription from these people feels like getting teeth pulled.

I tried to come get a walk-in flu shot. I was told no we don’t do those. I said the sign says you do. The pharmacist said well then you have to wait an hour. So I left and made an appointment for the next day online. I came 10 minutes before my appointment and the pharmacist said I didn’t have one, I showed her the email confirmation. She reluctantly says okay. She then makes me fill out all the paper work again. She then takes patients before me. They are extremely rude. It’s unfortunate since people are trying to do the right thing and get vaccines. I would recommend going elsewhere

A staff pharmacist called me about a prescription that I transferred from CVS and she proceeded to yell at me about why my insurance would not approve it at that time...It was too early to refill it and I knew this, but when I tried to tell her that was probably why, she wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise and kept raising her voice at me. All I wanted to tell her was that I wanted to get it on file for the next time, but she wouldn't let me speak and yelled about my insurance company rejecting it and that I needed to deal with it. I asked her why she was yelling at me and she continued to be rude about the issue. I said I just wanted it on file and she finally said "OK, well if you wanted it tomorrow, it's not going to be approved unless you pay out of pocket." I said I was trying to tell her I didn't need it immediately, but she wouldn't let me finish a sentence. It was shocking behavior, honestly. She was rude, unprofessional and her tone towards me was completely uncalled for. I regret using their services. I hope she will not remain on staff as that is unacceptable behavior. Clearly she doesn't like her job or people. She's awful.

these reviews ain’t it. They’re trying their best, chill out. Every time I’ve gone to pick up a prescription, I get a new person, and they have been kind and efficient??♀️

several days before my trip, I scheduled a Covid 19 test. I get a call 2 hours before test from the pharmacist who was called to cover. She did NOT know how to perform and record such a test. I found elsewhere to take a test, but what else do they get wrong at this pharmacy??

I came with my father to get his covid vaccine and was helped by a nice pharmacist. This time around I came with my mother for the same reason but I had a complete opposite experience. The pharmacist in the front was rude from the beginning and it was over all an unpleasant experience. I couldn’t make out the pharmacist name but I believe the initials were E. P. I normally don’t give out reviews but I felt the need to because I don’t want anyone else to experience that when there are already nervous about a covid shot. I hope a manager addresses this to prevent future interactions that are rude and nasty.

I rarely ever leave reviews but i feel the need to have to write this review because of how rude and unprofessional the workers at the pharmacy are. During this pandemic, everything is a mess and if we can find any bit of information that would be greatly helpful. I called the pharmacy to ask questions regarding my upcoming Covid vaccine appointment. The person that answered the call was laughing and making fun of my questions while the people in the back are also laughing in a mocking way. This is absolutely rude and disrespectful to a patient especially during this crazy time. If it wasn’t because of how difficult it is to find an appointment for Covid vaccine, I would have cancel it and go somewhere else because I wouldn’t trust these people vaccinating me.
