Arrived at 9am. Had to wait for a store employee, a manager, to notice customers waiting at the counter. Other employees of the store just walk by and ignore you. But the manager stated that they cannot cash checks, could barely understand him as for the reason. But he said that they couldn't open the register, have to wait till 10am. Just terrible service on the store's staff ignoring customers at Customer Service desk. Only to find that nothing is working properly. It's very frustrating when you depend on getting this money.

I mean it's a grocery store. You probably are gonna get exactly what you're expecting. It's cold and the music they play is alright. A staff member was very nice to me and said he liked my hair. I'd probably go again if it was the closest grocery store to me but I wouldn't drive past another one to get here. I got Ben and Jerry's ice cream.

UPDATE 3/18/22 - So in response to my first review in January, Safeway Business Manager Dawn M. suggested I chat with Safeway through their Contact Us page because they "would love to learn more about your experience, so we can improve our services". And then she told me emphatically to have a nice day. Hey, Dawn M Business Manager, I have an emphatic suggestion for you: if you really want to learn about my experience and how you can improve your services all you have to do is get yourself down to this Safeway any weekday evening between say 5:30 and 7:00 and observe. I have attached pictures from my most recent attempt to purchase something this evening. This was a first: ZERO registers open and a line of 10+ people waiting for service at the self-serve area.

The stocky middle-aged woman who mans the self-checkout area is sullen and surly, especially whenever she has to get off her phone to DO HER JOB. And she's always on her phone. Why does mgmt even allow a phone, union? The least customer oriented employee where there's the most contact.

Really tough location for this Safeway. With the increased crime we no longer shop at this location

Once again this store shows how clueless they are in customer service. A couple years ago, they finally fixed their crappy self scan machines to which they actually functioned most of the time. It was an improvement over their previous stations. But they can't seem to leave well enough alone. They only have 4 stations so lines form fairly often. But because of social distancing, this forces waiting customers to line up into the shopping aisles. Then it ends up being two lanes for 4 stations when it should be one lane for all 4. So what do they do? They erect a tall wine display case right in front of the scan stations. This means customers waiting in line are unable to see 2 of the stations and whether either one of those stations is available for the next customer. The customers view is completely blocked. What is their justification for doing such a thing? When I visit the South Lakes Safeway, they have 6 functioning scan machines with no blocked views and a much more organized system for customers waiting in line. Oh and by the way, only 2 of the 4 scan machines at the HW Safeway were working.

Jeeze...tough crowd, huh? You know, the community could be a little more sympathetic when writing these reviews. This store has been around for quite a long time and it is absolutely way overdue on terms of updating; however, the individuals who work there do what they can to keep the building clean and organized. They are wonderful, hard working people who make my day EVERY TIME i go there - and they are the reason I will keep going back. Let's do our best to remember that we're all humans. We have good days, bad days, just "ok" days....have some decency.

I like the products, but they should work on the atmosphere a bit. They have what you need, but would recommend that they redo the interior a bit. Still a great store.

Soviet is how I'd describe this grocery store. It's been around forever, with no sign of improvements. In a way it's a time capsule, which would be fine if not so rough looking. One has to even wonder what year the carts are from. Admittedly it'll never be my favorite, but in a time of a pandemic, it serves a community need. The staff here has done an exemplary job, in keeping the shelves full. Well except for toilet paper, but that's everywhere, and I don't understand this phenomenon at all. My main issue with this store, and heck every Safeway, is their prices aren't competitive. Grocery stores don't have large profit margins, but their sales are laughable. I can easily get the same items for that price or less elsewhere. Their seafood prices are outrageous. Apparently they haven't got the memo they aren't "Whole Foods." Their butcher does have some good cuts but expect to pay more. For what they charge for fruits and vegetables, they should be ashamed. Due to its being a overpriced dinosaur, I cannot in confidence recommend this store.

First time using Safeway and very bad sevice and unhelpful. I had placed a pick up and go order days in advanced to get the available window. The email confirmation was there then this morning got a call saying they will cancel it as they cannot get to the order due to computer issue. Called the store but still they are not helping and asked to place another order, the available window for which is in days.even if ai place the order what is the guarantee that this won't happen again. No cancellation showing up in the email. Now they charged $5 for a service they cancelled. When called the store manager, she did not receive the call and never called back. Very unprofessional.

Me to store employee: could you tell me where the biscotti is? Store employee: what is that, cheese? Me: no, it's like an long and thin biscuit cookie. Store employee: oh, I don't know. Maybe it's in the pet food aisle. Me: great, I'll be sure to look for it there. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.

Self check out cash registers were broken! Lines at 9am were long and prices can't compete with the new German groceries appearing all over the DMV. This store needs to step up its game if it wants to stay in business.

Perhaps the worst grocery store one could ever set foot in. Simple as that.
