Had a paper taped to the door and said it was closed and to go to the airport location at about 10am when it was listed as being open. Doesn’t look like it has been open in a while.

This place isn’t even open! You have to go to the airport location. The office is empty. You CANNOT get a hold of a person at any of the regional locations so they can tell you this or give you directions to get to the airport location (it’s in the terminal.) Hugely, hugely inconvenient if you don’t have a car!

Most useless helpless heartless people they don’t help when they need to online says available go there and the car isn’t there they don’t try and get another option worst service ever will honestly couldn’t even help get a number to check if the other rentals had a car for us they just say you book online don’t help nothing useless worst service ever honestly!

Car broke down. Booked a car, got charged $400+, paid for a ride all the way to Roanoke, was getting texts the whole time about my rental being confirmed. Got 5 minutes out and got a call that they had NO CARS at all and didn't have any all day. So they can take online bookings, and they can take money, and then they wait 4+ hours to cancel? Meanwhile I'm out the time and money I spent to get to the airport in the first place.

Was uninformed that our rental car had been moved to the airport after showing up there to pick it up, then go to the airport to get it just to be told "oh we don't take that card here" by the smarteleck guy working at the counter which is a load of bullcrap so needless to say we will not be using Avis again and thanks to them we had to go somewhere else so that is fine cause we got treated awhole lot better

Smelly cars and mishandled charges! : The only reason we have gone with this place is because we cant park our car at our local Enterprise location anymore. I have had to switch out 2 rentals now because of unbearable smell at this Avis. The kind of smell that sticks with you hours after you've gotten out of the car.

I have been renting cars for 5+ years, so I am very familiar with all companies. I mainly choose to use Hertz or Avis for their competitive prices and ease of access to my local locations. I have chosen this Municipal Road location several times due to not having to pay additional airport fees. That is where the positives stop and long list of cons begin. After 2 VERY BAD encounters with the same associate I will never rent from this location again. For the record, I always book my rental at least 1.5 weeks ahead and pay in advance online. The 1st rental was a short overnight trip and I was in a bit of a hurry to get on my way, so I wasn't picky on what car I received. I get to office see a lot full of cars, so I was not worried. With keys in hand I opened the car door (Chevy Malibu) and was immediately consumed with stale cigarettes. The car was filthy inside and out (dust covered dash, crumbs in console, stains on seats, and dirt/grass all in floorboard. Mud caked on the wheels and a huge dent and black scrape all down the passenger side). The associate would not exchange my car, but I did ask for a discount. I drove straight to Walmart and loaded up on odor neutralizer. It made the car bearable for the few hours I was driving.
