The Budget rental car I picked up at the Roanoke Airport reeked of cigarette smoke. When I reached my destination I borrowed a car to drive for 2 days because the smell in the Budget car was unbearable. I would have returned or swapped out the rental car earlier but I was too far away from the airport. Not a great experience. The counter agent shrugged off my concerns about the smoke. Basically responded that it happens a lot even though renters are fined $450 for smoking in cars.

This car was a brand new car but smelled so bad of smoke. I reported that night as I rented and no remedy. When I checked in the car still no remedy. Could not drive with windows rolled up. Had to be down the entire time!!! Will not use budget in Roanoke again!!!

Thanks for the excellent service! We were handed out the wrong car in D.C.The car was dirty and unsafe to use, as the passanger door would not open. The staff in Roanoke was really helpfull. We got a clean car, that matched the category we were charged for. What a great experience!

I returned a car to this location and then rented and returned a different car on another day. I made the mistake of leaving a jacket in the first car. At every interaction with staff they were efficient and quick. When I lost my jacket they were extremely helpful and arranged to ship it to me. This was remarkable customer service.

Never again will I rent a car at Budget from the airport location in Roanoke! First they gave me a car that was damaged with a broken wiper so I went back in. She switched the car for another one that had worse damage than the first one. Usually when I have rented cars they come out with you to inspect the car for damage and document it. Well all they said was take a picture myself. That didn’t sit well with me. On top of that the car was filthy inside and out. I had to clean the car before I could even use it. I called the customer service number and spoke to a nice man who documented everything bc I didn’t want to be charged for anything. The next day I noticed that the tire pressure for one of the tires was low. I looked to see if I could see anything in the tire but I couldn’t see anything…. Later to find out that there was a nail in the tire. I drove all the way to the beach and back with a nail stuck in the tire. It ran out of windshield wiper fluid, which to me is a necessity when you are at a place that is sandy and salty. Today was the day that I was supposed to return the car. I called customer service and explain to them again all of the issues that I had. They gave me $150 back towards my reservation and I was OK with that because I did use the car. But then as a courtesy, I went into the budget rental place to inform them about the tire so they would not rent it out to someone else until it’s fixed. I did not have to do that. I could have just threw the keys in the dropbox and left. As I was explaining to the guy behind the counter, all of the issues that I had and the fact that it had a nail stuck in the tire, he proceeds to scream at me from behind the counter that I had an attitude. So then I did get an attitude. I reported all of this back to customer service because they seem to be the only ones that actually cared about what I went through with their car. So if you were in a car from budget from the airport, be prepared. It was a nightmare.

Our rental experience was not great. We reserved a Prius because we were going on a long trip and wanted the best gas mileage. The car they tried to put us in had a Maintenance Required light on the dashboard and was missing a piece of the body behind the rear window. They had to move us to another car that was a hybrid but got less than half of the mpg of the Prius. This change cost us about $100 in extra gas on our trip.

The counter was very racist as we ordered a premium vehicle and they gave us their worst one possible and said that was the only one available. Just a reminder that I am Indian. Not only this but the person at the counter accused us of being rude as we said the car didn’t have its own navigation and Apple CarPlay didn’t work. Plus the Lexus they gave us was an incredibly old model. These reasons are the reason that I suggest that this Budget Car Rental is racist.

My rented car had an engine fault during my trip! I called the roadside service and they towed the car away but gave me an exchange location that was 2 hours away without an Uber/Lyft ride!!! After the disabled car was received Budget directly closed my contract and stopped providing Uber or exchange car. I called roadside service they said the case was closed and put me into customer service line then the customer service said they can only start a new rental and cannot provide an Uber ride and let me call roadside service. I was pushed around several times and decided to give up. This rental caused me at least $1000 lost and the Budget just left me at the hotel without any further plan.

100% , satisfied with my rental. I reserved small vehicle, but I was upgraded for Toyota tundra for same price , can't beat that. Pick up and drop off was so easy. T y budget. ?

Rental was in excellent condition, Mazda CX-5 SUV. Customer service was excellent when I needed to extend & wasn’t able to process online due to upgrade when reserved compact car wasn’t available.
