Renting with National was as easy as it gets. Everyone from pick up to drop off was super friendly and the vehicle was just the right size for my weekend needs. Would definitely rent from National again!

I love renting from National. Emerald Isle is the only way to go! QUick in and out and they let you pick your car! such great service and friendly employees!

Usually have no trouble with National, but this time, even though their was a good selection of cars in the Emerald and Executive area, I was limited to what I could choose to two or three vehicles, never happened before and not sure why that is. Car was fine, just as Emerald Executive member thought I would be able to get something else

Yan told me I wasn't his customer because I went through priceline. Very unhelpful, long story short, I will not rent from them ever again because of his attitude. Quick to get smart with me over a fixable problem.

Horrible customer service by a guy named Jeff. Very rude! Ran my card 3 times for an amount I did not authorize without my consent. It froze up my card and I had to contact my bank to unfreeze. Jeff stated after he runs a card 3 times he cannot run it again. He didn't explain that to me or inform me he authorized my card for a higher amount other than what I agreed. He made me wait an hour until there were no customers in line. I did so. Once I proceeded to the counter he said he couldn't help me. I asked him why he ran it so many times and why he added xm radio and premium insurance and additional fees to my account. He refused to answer my question I threw my driver's license and credit card at me. I picked them off the floor and aksed him nicely to calm down as he was shaking and turning red in the face. I stated I'm traveling for work and it's urgent I get the rental my company booked. He insisted on being volitile. I reported to airport security and higher management. I have the whole thing on video and employees reviewed the video and stated they were apologetic and embarrassed for his actions. This man does not need to be dealing with the public with obvious anger management problems like this. I don't understand why employee's think they can ask this way and there won't be any repercussions

I'm giving this review 5 stars, not for the vehicle which was satisfactory by the way; but for the customer service at the counter. I had the pleasure of working with Justin, who is a new face I haven't seen at this location. Not only was he knowledgeable, but he also took the time to explain all of the charges and was very conversational throughout the process. But the icing on the cake was when I returned the car 5 days later. Not only did he remember my name immediately but he even remembered that we were coming back from the Greenbrier in WV. If that's not great customer service, I don't know what is! I look forward to working with Justin in the future and I hope Hertz continues to hire friendly, knowledgeable workers like him. Fingers crossed!!!!

I am only giving a 1 star because it is the lowest permitted. I made an online reservation to pick up a 7 passenger vehicle from Hertz Rental Car at the Roanoke Airport. I arrived to the airport early so that I could be prompt for my 8AM reservation. I was directed to the hertz desk within the airport, and the employee (GARY) was preparing to open the desk. I quietly stood several steps away from the counter to allow him to continue as I waited patiently for him to open at 8AM, even smiled at him and glanced away. After several minutes of waiting he snared and rudely said, “I’m NOT opening until 8AM exactly”. I walked away and returned at 8AM disregarding his rude demeanor. When I returned he said what do you need. I said I had a reservation for this morning at 8AM. He found my name on the list proceeded to get my license and credit card and then throws in since you booked last minute and I printed my list last night I only have a five passenger vehicle available and it is my fault that I booked last minute. I told him that the reservation was confirmed and I was upholding my agreement to not cancel and had my payment, but he said he had his list printed last night and that puts him in a bind so he can’t do it. His only resolution was that my 80$ reservation be replaced by a minivan which is well over 250$ to reserve. I advised him I could not budget that last minute and he said oh well you booked last minute. I walked away and checked with the other companies but unfortunately they didn’t have a vehicle available for that many occupants, but It wasn’t advertised and confirmed like it was at Hertz so totally understandable. I called back shortly after leaving before being charged additional money to park at the airport for nothing to get his name for when I contact customer service tomorrow during normal hours, the initial call rang for well over one minute, the second call was answered and hung up without a greeting or opportunity to even say a word, the third call answered promptly this is Gary. Horrible first and likely last experience. Terrible customer experience, would not recommend if you need a reliable rental option or a company to uphold their end of a reservation. Worst of all, would not recommend in effort to avoid such a horrible and rude encounter from a terrible employee who represents this company so poorly.
